And then we have Sanae... Who originally came from the outside world... with two gods... And is still human, mind you.
And then we Have Nue, whom may end up older than Yukari, since she looks younger than her, dispite being about 200 or so years apart. That is, IF Yukari dosen't manipulate that boundary.
Now if you excuse me... I gotta spin like a top.

EAT IT, HINA!

So what happens if they die on an accident they themselves caused? (And, is "they themselves" grammatically acceptable? sweatdrop )

Uhm...not exactly no, humans don't die unless they are killed right, BUT again, supporting Einsteins theory.

People don't turn into youkai when they die, where did that even come from? I'd imagine the Netherworld would be pretty much pointless if death was simply being reincarnated as a youkai, or going straight to heaven/hell. Being a normal human and being immortal is perfectly possible within Gensokyo, so long as you don't mind a life of an ascetic hermit. Super long life, ridiculous strength and spiritual powers, with the only drawbacks being that straying from the path will kill you, and youkai will be much more aggressive in hunting you for food. Hanzo Komeiji That in and of itself implies that they have control over how they look at any given time. The only reason Remilia has visible wings is because she's not able to transform enough to hide them.

It's true that people don't turn into Youkai when they die. At least, not immediately. With enough attachment, they can become a lingering ghost at the very least. Depending on the amount of will or stron emotion they have at death, they can be quite formidable just like that.
Then, depending on their circumstances (becoming feared, etx) they can gradually form into a youkai like much anything else. Murasa is a perfect example of this.

Daughter of Tepes You have NO idea how many times I've thought about turning Sakuya just so she can stay with me. She enjoys being human though, so I won't deny her that. It's just...going to be tough watching her grow old and eventually leave... What if Sakuya simply were to drink a Hourai Elixer...on the rocks. She would still be human, just immortal. Plus maybe she could use her maipulation over time to help keep her body from succumbing to time. Lady_Theia Now if you excuse me... I gotta spin like a top. *Tries on the prototype drill hat, and head-stands.* EAT IT, HINA! *Spins* Plays music as you spinI got to stop linking non touhou related amvs...but I have been frequenting amv.org so I got them on the mind. sweatdrop Well here is one with at least some relations to touhou if its of any consolation. {Eternally Young Scarlet Moon} Well, I am lord of the night, so please excuse me.______________________________ » » » » †
If she hasn't taken it yet, I'm sure she isn't going to. Besides, I don't think Eirin would make one for her. Also, her power over time is going to wear her out over time. She can't keep it up forever.
As for music, I prefer this selection.

Dunno. Ask Remilia, she's the one who was worried about Sakuya... ...now that I think about it, Remilia's fate manipulating ability can be rather h4x if used at the full extent of its possibilities.

She can't keep it up forever. As for music, I prefer this selection.I am sure there are ways around that, though Eirin seems to be the best bet for enternal life. Wotan Manasal But Sakuya wants to die someday. If thats the case, we could bring Koishi to the mix. Start up a conversation with her and say things like "Don't you think the core of human behavior is their survival instict, doing anything in their power to stay alive, even if it means doing so through supernatural means?" and stuff til she gets the impression of humans being that way. Then you have her talk with Sakuya til Koishi's manipulation of the subconscious subconsciously manipulates Sakuya's subconscious (We could hire those guys from that movie, but the going rate is so expensive...). I know overwrting her will is wrong but...*throws selfish tantrum* I don't want sakuya to die! crying MidBossVyers That's right. Souls cannot be created or destroyed, only transported from 1 vessel to another. But shrine maiden or not, Reimu's still human. Normally, deciding reincarnation would be Eiki's job, but I'm saying Remilia might be able to use her fate manipulation to persuade the little miss Judge of the Dead. *stops whining and crying for a moment* I suppose, but even if its the same soul its not the same Sakuya... Besides why is Sakuya so concerned with being human when she is a "'mythical being' that all of us have heard about, but have never seen" Wotan Manasal ...now that I think about it, Remilia's fate manipulating ability can be rather h4x if used at the full extent of its possibilities. *nods* Most, if not all, of the characters in touhou have the potential of being immensly overpowered if but in the wrong hands. Probably due to parameters on what is actually possible with each power being left vague.
