It has indeed been a while, he agreed with an amused rumble. Mine and I have been well. We saw you there at the Hatching, though you did not see us. It is an honor to meet Serinth up close as well. The Brown looked thoughtful at the little Crimson's inquiry. What am I to her? I would hope and guess a friend, although I cannot really speak for Yours, he replied back honestly. You have chosen a very special woman as Yours. I do look forward to seeing you two work together.

It was at this point that S'ren made it back through the crowd and over to where the small gathering stood. "Good day, Ofie and Serinth," the Brownrider greeted with a friendly smile. From her perch on his shoulder, his crimson flit Ruby gave her own chirp of greeting. "I do hope that you are both doing well."

V'tur. I see Tereth as well as some others. Iweith warbled to his fellow brown. He had moved to where the other dragons were gathered and was exchanging pleasantries with Malvren and Trine. Hello there. We should not have to be here.

I see them Iweith. I will come up and join you. The older rider moved swiftly through the crowd and gave a half wave. "Hello there S'ren. And hello there, Crimson rider."

"Ah...greetins ta ya as well, Brownrider. I'm Ofelia, an' this 'ere on the ground is mah Serinth, though I'm afraid she'd bein' a bit snippy right now so ya might not wanna step inta talkin' wit' 'er jus' yet."

Almost as suddenly as she's been surrounded before, there were two riders and two sets of brown dragons now gathering around Ofelia and her new lifemate. It wasn't such a bad thing, she adored the color brown and naturally that meant she liked brown dragons, though there was something snickering in the back of her mind about the fact that these were browns. . . and she had a crimson. did that mean one day that either of these dragons would fly Serinth? Ofelia already. . . knew S'ren, so say the least, but this man who just approached was a complete stranger with a large dragon. A bit unnerving, but what could she do about it other than simply smile and take in his greeting?

. . . .I will take your word for now, but just remember that she's mine and will one day fly in the skies with me. You'll do well to follow behind us, because I'm going to be amazing. You'll see. Ofie will be amazing with me at her side.

It was amusing to see how quickly Serinth had decided her course of life with Ofelia at her side, but likely she was just trying to talk big in front of two huge dragons. Her rider stood nearby and listened to every word with a mild smirk on her face, though that expression quickly faded the moment a young woman came walking over. . .with a massively large crimson dragon. Serinth's interests instantly turned away towards the one of her own color, a monolith in her own right, and Ofelia was glad to see another female rider.

Greetings to you too then, Moriath. I'm Serinth, and that is Ofie. She doesn't like to be called Mine at all, so I'm going to call her Ofie. I wish she wouldn't be so picky this early in, but. . .what do you mean by circumstances? I know we're here for something tragic, Ofie had said and felt that much, but I get the feelings from her that she doesn't...care as much as everyone else. I do not understand, please explain.

It was Ofelia's turn to bow in response to the greeting, but shards if the Tanner had any manners at all that were proper for a rider or a Weyr. Instead of bow she merely bobbed her head and extended out her hand, a familiar doofy smile gracing her lips as she gave her own greetings.

"The name's Ofelia, but most jus' call me Ofie. Mah little one there is called Serinth, no nickname for 'er. It's really nice ta be meetin' another female rider, expescially one who's on a Crimson - seein' as the only other rider of my level is a man. Kinda hard ta get a feel on what it's like to be a female Crimsonrider from someone like 'em, yeah?"

No, I have not tried this tasty meat, Galvanth replied to the little Bronze, rather enchanted. The sheer number of dragonets was impressive alone, without the additional consideration that there had been two Bronze hatchlings in Brakiath's clutch. But I am not hungry, thank you. He had had two nice young bucks only the day before, which was more than enough to tide him through the day, if not longer. It would assuredly be longer. Adult dragons, after all, did not have to eat with the frequency of their much younger counterparts.

He was oblivious to the interest being turned his way by dragon and rider alike, caught up in entertaining the little ones. You are aware that you are utterly ridiculous, right? came S'raid's rather mocking remark. Galvanth graciously chose to ignore it. He was obviously just jealous. He did not have dragonets coming to greet him. Between Moira, Serlaith, Ianath, Lifth, and any others that might linger nearby, the Bronze was quite content with his company. There was not little Crimson today, but perhaps that was for the best.

"But of course, Weyrwoman. Who among the Benden riders would not want to know such a thing?" S'raid's eyes caught on Erilyn's, and held. He knew, and she knew, that this was not merely for his benefit. He was doing them a service, and he expected to be compensated for it."Your hope will not be in vain." There was, however, no reason to draw further attention to the subject. Now that the circle around the Weyrwomen was widening, he did not care to reveal even a hint of his planning.

His plotting, really.

Galvanth, for his part, did not feel in the least bit fallen. We are honored by your respect, the Bronze sent back to Gold Brakiath, with every bit of the delicacy he reserved for Queens of her stature. You may tell her, Galvanth, that I will have her copies for her when the time comes. Rumbling his agreement, the Benden Bronze passed that message, too, along. S'raid will be ready, and acquire the copies that the Weyrwoman desires. He would never presume to address a Weyrwoman as anything else, especially with S'raid prompting him.

When Abigail took her leave, the Bronzerider bent into another graceful bow, straightening to incline his head at the Trine Weyrwoman. "It was a pleasure, Weyrwoman. A good day to you, then." And what a mind! Ah, but he would have enjoyed fencing with her further. Erilyn was every bit as mentally agile, however, and he turned to her with that faint, polite smile. "A fine group. Malvren has been fortunate in its dragon's selections." The past conversation disappeared into nothing, and he allowed it to fade into obscurity. After all, it would not do to reveal themselves before an audience that might well contain a mole.

His eyes scanned the young faces that encircled the Weyrwoman, and he nodded to each of the in turn, with a slight bow for the young Goldrider. Her remark startled a bit of a chuckle out of him. What was it with Queenriders and wit? Well, that was a good sign, if nothing else. "Not at all. You have shown yourself well." From him, it was a high compliment indeed-- but he was not opposed to throwing those out where he thought they might do the most good. When she beat a hasty retreat (dragon prompted, naturally), he inclined his head to her as well.

Why, that Silver was quite the prince, wasn't he? Perhaps it was simply the nature of the Atypical dragons to be ranked as they were? It didn't sit well with him, but with such a fine example of that very breed behaving so graciously, he could not help but entertain the thought. There was certainly much to ponder, here. Much that he had never considered before arriving at Trine. "It isn't at all off putting. Why should it be? You are the young stars of your own Weyr, surely. Your Silver certainly carries himself well."

And Erilyn certainly seemed to agree. Hmmn, she was justifiably proud of her little brood. It was rather refreshing to see that these youngsters didn't seem to hold his predecessor's actions against him... though he was becoming somewhat accustomed to that attitude. Then again, these were Malvren riders. They were somewhat distanced from the tragic events that had put such a shadow over Trine Weyr.

I share your sentiment, Iweith, Tereth replied, eyes whirling faintly grey again, but that is why we should be here all the more.

S'ren nodded to V'tur's words. "Much the same. It has not been an easy time for sure." The Hatching had been a pleasant event, as well as the feast, but the funeral served well as a reminder of what had been lost and endured. The Brownrider was grateful that Benden would be returning to their own Weyr in just a few days time, but he didn't at all like the smug look that Masterhealer had been parading around with. He still didn't trust him.

Tereth found himself to be mildly amused by the little Crimson's assertion. I have no intention of ever taking Yours from you, nor do I doubt that you two will be amazing together, he said simply. As far as following behind... Heh, she certainly was an ambitious young thing, wasn't she. He was five Turns her senior though, so they'd just have to wait and see where the pair ended up.

~~~~~~~~~
Miss Cherie
There may not be an opportunity, he told Lifth. But if there is one, I would like for you all to take it.
If the timing is favorable, I will certainly speak to Mine on the matter, Lifth replied, eyes whirling a pleasant shade of blue. As much as the young Blue enjoyed his solitude and the entertainment of his own thoughts, traveling to another Weyr for a bit of extra 'fuel' so to speak couldn't hurt. And the Bronze really was quite the unique one. Try not to catch one before we can fly then-- or if you do then continue to fly her in the future so that we may come and see your offspring.
Xaotl
"Oh, turns now." He shrugged, having to admit he hadn't kept an exact count. "I think I was...hm. Well it was a little over ten years ago." He gave her the vague span with an small hand gesture. Had it really been that long since Primath had been that small?
...Shards he felt a little old thinking about it.
We are not old. We are experienced. S'raid is old.
He's two turns younger than I am!
... He acts old. Primath answered back, trying not to sound slightly embarrassed by this faux-pas, but then again she did have a dragons memory. We aren't old.
"It's actually fairly amazing how much time can go by without you noticing." He chuckled faintly, as though apologizing for being relatively removed from her in age.
"Ten Turns? That's quite impressive," G'brel replied with a smile. "I'm sure you two must have had a lot of nice times together." It truly was amazing how quickly time flew, but given her age she couldn't fully appreciate such a thing yet. A few Turns from now however might yield a different story. "I would certainly be honored to meet your Primath at some point. Is she over with the others near Galvanth?" The teen remembered seeing another Green near there, though she didn't know if it was the same one.
'Oh, I didn't mean the meat. Though that's pretty tasty too and Mine makes it taste even better.' His eyes whirl with happy thoughts as he pads back towards the larger bronze. 'Mine lets me sample what he eats. There's so many flavors!'
Yvoth rumbled amusement and blinked an intelligent eye at A’li. You may tell yours I do not mind it. Her rider, however, was a different story. K’la didn’t say anything directly to her green, but Yvoth didn’t have to look to the tables and see the tall woman’s stoic expression to know she was disapproving. Desperate for polite conversation though, Yvoth decided to take the silence for permission. A finding game sounds fun. I wish I had thought of it. In Benden our racing games are done flying. There’s a copy game too. One flies ahead, and the rest try and stay on their path as close. If the lead tucks and dives, the other do too. If the first banks and scratches claws against the rock face, the others do as well. I haven’t seen much rock in this southern place, but maybe you could skim water.
F'ren had been sitting in the back, away from most of the gathered mourners, Toulonth curled beside him resting her head in his lap as he absently stroked her smooth hide, suddenly he spied the Wherhandler and only slightly cringed, he'd been quite rude (privately) about Whers, but if that bond was even just a fraction of what he had with Toulonth then there was something worthwhile about it he guessed.
Before he could stop her Toulonth had got up and nudged the back of the wherhandlers legs, as he hadn't been that far at all, F'ren sighed, getting used to her getting people to talk to him. Mine, if you dont speak to others how can we be a good pair in flight, we can be the fastest in the Weyr but we must communicate to others.
F'ren got up from his sitting position and called over to the man with another sigh, You're lucky you're my dragon he said with a mental chuckle i know replied Toulonth smugly. "Relys, hello" he said to the Wherhandler holding his arm out to him in a friendly gesture, knowing he'd get told off by Toulonth if he didn't.
Brought by his two former fellow traders then promptly abandoned, Relys watches Optheli and S'kor head into the funeral crowds. He chuckles and rubs the back of his head; everyone else was related to the Weyr somehow. "Talk about a tunnel snake among the wherries..." Needless to say he felt a bit out of place and so mainly stayed along the fringes.
"Oooof!" Walking along and minding his own, the butt to the back of his legs came as unexpected. Relys twisted to see what or who was trying to knock him over. "Well hello there little green." He wondered why a little green would come knocking on his legs. "Not lost are we?" A slightly familiar voice comes out of the crowd.
Relys turns seeing the lad who'd helped him for a week. He gives a wave back and strolls over to him. "Hey Farellen! How are you? Staying out of trouble or do you want to come work for me again?" His friendly grin and wink take out any sting the question might carry. He clasps the younger man's arm politely, then let him go. "Say would you know who that little green belongs to?" Points to Toulonth.
F'ren smiled grimly "i'd say your first guess was right, i'm trying to stay well clear of Benden" he said then looked at Toulonth who seemed to almost wink at him. "it's F'ren now Relys, she's mine" he replied looking fondly at his small dragon. Since Mine didn't introduce me, i am Toulonth she said to Relys, at almost the same time as F'ren told the Wherhandler her name as well. "she's Toulonth" he sighed and sat back down, caressing her and offering Relys a seat "how is your Wher doing? i'm sorry i forget his name"
"It seems like all little ones have a bit of a chip on their shoulders, especially the Atypes. Don't worry, once she is older and you guys have been together for more than a day, she will do just fine." V'tur assured the both of them. He had a cup of cool fruit juice and was watching the Benden bronze rider interacting with some of the new Trine riders. He frowned as some of the others moved about freely but as they were not causing a scene, he particularly did not care.
Iweith chuckled at the little crimson dragon standing so tall and proud. He listened to her chatter on about her rider and what they were doing here. He settled down, crossing his front legs and resting his head comfortably. I call my rider V'tur. And yes, I am sure you will be amazing.
"Can't wait to see them gone. I wonder what that Healer is acting all uppity about... The rumors have been running fierce. Did I tell you bout what Xan and I have been doing these past few days? I think I can talk about it now." V'tur asked his fellow brown rider.
She nods. "You're right. Everyone is just distracted. I can't really blame them for watching Benden out of the corner of their eyes." When offered the redfruit, she smiled. Taking it with thanks, she peeled and bit into the ripe fruit. A finger catching drips that ran down her chin. "Thanks! That's good. Who else do you know here?"
If a dragon could have blushed, Dynith would have. When she offered for Daroth to find her something, she did not expect him to actually find something. She wanted nothing more than to sink into the ground at Her's feet. Oh, thank you Daroth. Her voice soft and shy. You're right. It is pretty and.... a pause while she sniffs it. It smells pretty as it looks. Noticing the bright red flower, Optheli grins. "Here let me help you." She leans down to pick it up and nestles it against Dynith's headknob. "There Dynith! You look beautiful. Thank you so much Daroth."
N'ymi bit into her redfruit, trying not to spray juices or make a mess since she was dressed formally. Normally, she wouldn't care but they had been lectured several times about being on one's best behavior and blah blah. Waiting until she had finished swallowing, she answered the question. "Well. Only really kno' one person. An' tha's La who got teh black draggin. 'aven't caught up wi' her yet. Dun' really kno' a'one else."
The little blue swelled with pride. He was immensely proud of making Dynith happy. He knew he could do it! And there was so much he could do! Did you hear that Nasuymi? She said thank you! I did a good job!
"Yes, ya did. G'job! Now dun be botherin' her too much." N'ymi decided not to correct him about her name this time.
He pauses and goes cross eyed for a moment as the little dragon speaks. Looking at F'ren with surprise, he points to the green. "Did she just speak to me? Isn't that unusual?" While use to his wher, a dragon was a different matter. "Hello Toulonth. It's a pleasure to meet you. Relysk is doing well. Probably still asleep actually. Optheli enjoyed the redfruit bite by bite. Hopefully none got on her blouse, it was one of her favorites. "Hmm, I guess your really one up on me. I don't really know any of the former candidates. Oh maybe one or two, but that's just cause we had dealings with them as traders. Ya know the boy with the brightly colored scarfs? That's one." She nods as if that explained everything.
Dynith's eyes whirl happily. She was happy she'd made the blue happy in turn. Of course, she was equally happy that his attention was on His. What would she do if he asked to make her happy again? Surely he'd get tired of getting flowers.
Shards! R’vik wished he put more forethought into deciding to wear his flying leathers. The heavy leathers were weighing him down, and he could feel the sweat trickle down the side of his face. He pondered returning to Xalth and peeling off his jacket, but dropped that thought as he felt Xalth’s disapproval. In all honesty. R’vik should have remembered how it felt at the Hatching Feast and worn something lighter. Then again, at the Hatching Feast he had some spirits to distract him. Trine’s selection of beverages weren’t bad, but he personally preferred a stout Benden beer.
To ease his discomfort, R’vik paused to fuss with his jacket, opening the collar. Ahhh, much better! He lowered his hands and turned, nearly crashing into V’al. “Ah! Pardon -“ R’vik glanced at the boy’s shoulder-knot, “Weyrling. How fares you and Yours?” Another glance at the boy’s shoulder revealed that he had Impressed a blue. There was some common ground, at least!
F'ren nodded, he'd forgotten that Whers took after their handlers names, he should have remembered the Wher, since he remembered the man. "depends on the dragon i guess, she likes to .... 'help'" he said emphasising the word help as sarcastic, "i'm sure that you had other business to attend to instead of the hatching Relys, after all your Wher is awake at night, i gues you'd sleep then too" he said with a shrug, not really bothered whether the Wherhandler attended or not. Absently he ate some spiced meat, *Toulonth are you hungry?* he asked lamely, since the hunger growling in his stomach usually echoed hers Yes i am F'ren mine, but i dont much like the cooked meats here, where is the butcher? i want something fresh she informed him and started towards where she could smell the meat she wanted. "I'm sorry Relys, i'd better follow her" he said, "feel free to follow, who knows what trouble she'd get up to" he said with a slight chuckle at his dragon who was working her way around the crowd, bumping into a few people here and there.
Syrie
Cavenath heard the recently hatched silver's reply and warbled back at him; throwing back another gentle insistence at His to join them as soon as it was prudent.
'Hello Sakath, it is good to meet you. And Sakath's rider! Mine will come when he can.' The massive silver stopped a few steps from the smaller silver and dipped his head to touch noses in greeting; once he had done that, he turned his head and made a pleasant noise at Kelvari.
'You will be as big as me, because Yours will take good care to oil you twice a day and not let you tire yourself as T'ronmine did for me.' On this, he was firm, because for him, his growth had been so explosive, his hide so sensitive, that T'ron had to oil his shining body far more often than usual. They also got tired quite easily, so that had to be taken into consideration...T'ron had actually carried Cavenath around like a large puppy when he had first hatched.
Delighted by the notion of growing up big and strong, Sakath turned to his rider and warbled at her for assurance.
Cavenath says I must be oiled many times a day, and you shouldn't let me get tired.
The little silver said, his whirling eyes obviously amused by the idea. Blinking, Kelvari tactfully decided against reminding the little dragon that she already carried him most places (and didn't only when he insisted on walking) and that his sensitive digestive system was already giving her a run for her marks. As energetic as Sakath had been at his Hatching, and as robust as he was after... he was showing most of the Atypical frailties in his digestive tract. Looking at Cavenath, she doubted that HE had such issues, she'd been raised in the Weyr and knew something of dragon growth rates, and this silver was bigger then most for his age. Sakath, as much as he would like too, probably wouldn't be as big as Cavenath due to simple nutritional differences. Best not mention it though...
"It is nice to meet you Cavenath, and please tell your rider to take his time. I'm sure he's busy." Kel replied, charmed by the senior silver's excellent manners, if a little intimidated that his rider had just been conversing with the Weyrwomen. Hopefully Sakath would be just as impressed with Cavenath's manners and learn a thing or two.
Cavenath! How soon did you and Yours fly? Dannath tells me that it takes longer for some young dragons. Have you had firestone yet? What is Malvern like? Have you met any Benden dragons?
Or... he could jump right into a barrage of questions. Resisting the urge to sigh, Kel just scratched Sakath's eye ridges absently and reminded herself that she had asked him to ask questions.
Sakath, one at a time dearheart.
Oh, I'm sorry.
Having shown off her brood, Malvren's Weyrwoman let the conversation wander for a few minutes before she too cut in, "And if you'll excuse me as well, S'raid, I should be making the rounds. It is not often such gatherings happen. Don't let me keep you, either, I'm sure there are those among the crowd you wish to speak to." She inclined her head and backed up a step, "It was a pleasure speaking to you, Bronzerider. I will keep you mind." She offered a brief parting wave before she (semi-) disappeared into the crowd. It was hard not to spot a Goldrider - everyone treated them differently in one way or another.
Hungy and interested in what she might hear, Eirlyn headed over towards the snack tables while Abigail was wandering the crowd once she'd assured no one was hurt with the roaring dragon. Condolences and reassurances abounded, given from and to the Weyrwoman, but the atmosphere was lighter... It was a relief.
