I am a Practitioner of tibeten buddhism, the Gelug sect(also known as the yellow hat sect). I found this buddhism to be right for me because of the stress it puts on helping other people...

Zen with a little bit of Theravada thrown in mainly because i feel that wisdom is just as important as compassion especially when it comes to reaching enlightenment (or as i call it harmony). I am not merely Buddhist however. I am a Buddha-Pagan. My faith is a combination of Buddhism and Paganism.

I was raised a Southern Baptist in the Bible Belt of America (down in GA) but right now I'm doing like the Buddha said and learning before diving headlong into something.
One thing I know for sure though: Faith and Me don't get along very well.
I think I might end up Tibetan with strong Mahayana leanings, though.

xxxTickle Me EMOxxx um am I the only Lay Buddhist here? What do you mean by Lay Buddhist? Usually that indicates you're a Buddhist who isn't ordained as a monk/nun or priest, which would be most individuals in this guild as well as worldwide.

I dunno what sect I am or will become. I havent found sufficient research on the stuff... so I am not sure, beside, I am a newer buddhist, so I probably wont chose a side yet. And if I did, I most likely wouldn't just be that, but a mix of other buddhism stuff biggrin

I primarily study in Tibetan Buddhism, but I'm also partial to Zen. I've dabbled in them all, but those are the main two that I have followed the closest.

I've yet to pick a school to "affiliate" with, but I'm currently leaning towards Mahayana.
Right now, I'm a Christian with a generous smattering of Buddhism thrown in.

I'm very new to Buddhism so I'm not sure which path I will follow. I was raised LDS/Christian, but have also investigated Wicca and various forms of Paganism. It was actually my affinity to the Goddess Kwan Yin/Quan Yin that led me to investigate Buddhism.
I hope that with the help of this guild I will be able to learn more and find the path that will be best for me.
