"We could split up, and each go a different way," Suzy offered. "Don't split the party." Eli looked at Suzy darkly, and she threw up her hands in mock surrender.

Kaok nodded back to Emma.
"Whichever way we go, we need to make sure we walk so that we don't have a blind spot. We don't want anyone or anything to sneak up behind us."

"Oh you foolish old goat whore. While you guard from threats from outside, Suzy and I could kill all of you when you least expected it."
"A fantastic idea, Empress! Suzy and I will guard the rear!" Romulus exclaimed.
"Oh no, you don't! You walk up front where I can see you!"
"I think not. I don't need you breathing down my neck like a lion in heat."
Remus growled in frustration.

"You will walk up front, and I'll do my very best to keep Remus from harassing you. Does that sound fair?" She asked, but it didn't sound like she was going to leave any room for negotiation.

"No. How about Suzy and I will just go our own direction? Staying with your group is clearly not going to work and what do you all care if anything happens to us?"
"Fine by me." Remus muttered. "Splitting up completely is a bad idea, but shedding you two would be fine."

"You never split the party," Eli insisted again, growling deep in his throat. "We can just - split you two up, if Remus is so sure you're going to cause us untold harm." He certainly had been very antagonistic. Frida nodded.
"I don't know what's down here, and I don't think anyone else does either. I am not going to squabble and kill someone just to get eaten by some - some horrible fiend from the depths!" Suzy was certainly more concerned with her own safety - and that of Rom's - to attack anyone, were anyone to believe her. Fat chance.

The two Fletcher brothers looked at each other and seemed to shrug simultaneously.
"We'll both walk in the middle." "Side by side." "Agreed." "Do you want to shake on it?" "No." "As you wish."
And like that, the Fletchers' little squabble ended. For the first time in who knew how long, they both could agree on something.

"Great." Emma, if they start fighting again, feel free to mess with their heads a little. A picture or two of a Lenaar stripper should do.

With pleasure.
The nobles swept past the brothers to the back of the group, fully intent on watching the Fletchers in case of further violence.
She was covering another round of contractions with an impassive expression and ramrod-straight posture.

The Fletcher brothers remained silent, though they would occasionally glance at each other and look the other direction if they made eye contact. The tension was so strong that if one were to walk between the brothers, they would have felt an angry heat that would almost burn.

Suzy, then, was clearly destined for the front. She would be, perhaps, the only one; Frida placed herself beside Emma, and Eli was obliged to follow. And there was no way Suzy would stand beside Kaokie. "To the right then," she offered, with no one else offering ideas other than the crazy thing in the first room.

Both nobles gave their consent, working similar spells to summon their swords; both rapiers, free of wirework or embellishment. They were not for show. They were strictly 'stabbing only' weapons.

The end of the hallway showed yet another door. This one had a padlock, but it was lying on the floor. Clearly, someone had broken into it.

((Er... another another?))
Kaok, who had been walking somewhere in front of the nobles and behind the Fletcher brothers, wondered briefly if it was a good idea to proceed into a place that someone had forced themselves into. It was a guarantee that someone was there, but no guarantee that they were friend or foe.
