Still, I'm especially thankful that I don't have to be stuck with a party that includes names like Zidane, Quina, and ESPECIALLY a princess named "Dagger". Man, the crap they come up with sometimes.

It depends. Sometimes I name them after my favorite musicians, if they have cool names. Sometimes I just make up my own names. I use creativity.
In the case of Persona, yes, I do name them after me.

Well, technically, Bob is just short for Robert, and that's a pretty cool name. And Percy is short for Percival, so that's... Flamboyantly cool, too.
But it's actually Eric. And I'm happy with it. Plus it's a single player game, so it's not like you'll have to present it to other people and say, "So this character is named Percival." It's a personalized experience. It would be lame if a Percival was creating a game and said, "Let's name the character after me, and then NOT let people change it."
And heck, even Percival is better than Snow, or Zidane.

I don't think my name - Morgan - is so bad, and the female protagonist even kind of looks like me, but I still wouldn't name her after me. It would just be... weird. I don't know what I'll name her.
But yeah, I understand what you're saying with the names, I just hate making decisions. It's slightly better when the character doesn't talk, but if it's one that already has a whole personality, I just really have hard time with it. It's my weakness.
And I don't see what's wrong with the name Zidane. gonk
Snow's okay for me, but I can see how some would find it ridiculous.

Why not Morgan? I mean, it's a ROLE PLAYING game. I used to think that the whole idea behind RPGs is that you put YOURSELF into the shoes of the character. And that's double the truth for Persona, since you're the one who makes all the dialogue choices, that character is essentially you.
Heck, I remember when Kingdom Hearts came out, and I said, "You can't name your character? Then how is this even an RPG?"
