Name: Hajime Maekawa
Nicknames: Haji, Mae-kun
Age: 17
Appearance:
Grade: Junior
Homeroom: 2-3
Love Interest: None [Before his 'change', he had taken an interest in Yuuki Haruko after she moved to Inaba, but couldn't bring himself to say anything to her. Those feelings seem to have vanished, now.]
Personality: Haji used to be a very outgoing, intelligent, and somewhat excitable person. Loving video games, he could bring together a crowd when he talked about some of his favorites. Now, however, he is very rough around the edges and markedly colder. He says whatever he wants without fear of the consequences, and has distanced himself from everyone he used to care for. His only friends seem to be a strange group now, and the new teacher, Mr. Shirato.
Bio: For the first portion of his life, 'Haji' was a relatively outgoing and intelligent person, and all through Middle School he never hesitated to tell the people who knew him about his dream to become a computer and video game programmer. An avid video game enthusiast, his goal in life was to create and program the ultimate game, linking reality to fantasy all through the comfortable window of a visor lens. His intelligence and his charisma made everything seem possible, and within his group of friends, he was the one who showed the most promise for the future.
During his first year of High School, however, the incidents in Inaba began with deaths and kidnappings featuring students who had been on television running rampant. Police kept their knowledge of the kidnappings on the down-low, but skilled in computers as he was, Haji was able to hack into the system and learn much more about the actual kidnappings than others. It didn't take him long to put the pieces of the puzzle together. And that was why, when the opportunity to show off a high-tech programming code he had designed on a local television show came, he hotly declined the opportunity. Never knowing who could be next, thinking that he might be the one who died, he threw away the chance he had dreamed of in fear.
The rest of the year he was solemn, despondent even amongst his friends, and during the break between first year and second year, nobody heard a word from him. However at his return at the beginning of Junior year, a marked change had occurred in him. Gone was the timidity which plagued him, the warmth and ambition that had been his trademark, and he became immediately distant from all of the people around him. His actions began to seem...almost robotic, but unrestrained. He said what he wanted, with as much force as he wanted, whenever he wanted. And he made no bones about the fact that any future he had seen before was gone to him now...that the world didn't deserve a future at all. And the only people he seemed to grow close with were a strange group of colleagues, and the new professor...Jin Shirato.
