Did you know that while you sleep, spiders that generally like to live under our bed frames (where it's dark and moist) will generally climb on top of the bed and crawl over? Statistics say that most people swallow over 3,000 spiders that happened to crawl into their mouths during their sleep.

I don't care about eating them in my sleep...as long as I don't see them. And anyway, they're good protein, right? whee And there's something like 6 insect legs in every bar of chocolate...mm-mm good. xd I think I have been desentsitized to the evil-spiderness. Curses!

No, the eight is from another spider statistic -- you're never more than eight feet from a spider.

Fears dependant on sexual orientation? Im afraid thats all up to the individual fear.
To support this I would have to mention the general fears of being mugged, abused by strangers or those who dont like your disposition on something (i.e. gay, religion, politics, care bears), and those sorts of fears. These fears are shared by nearly everyone but their level of intensity is determined by the person (sexual orientation, race, politic standing, wealth..) and their environment.
George Bush is being afraid of assassinated; Im afraid of guys at school who might want to take some drastic measures to change my mind about liking girls. (There are jerks and fanatics like that, the chances are small..but still there.)
To disprove this hypothesis, I would have to say that fears are completely individual in their entirety. You may be scared of spiders, I get stage fright. :: shrugs ::
Of course, there are other hypothesis' too. You have to ask how we develop these fears. Something that happened in our childhood? An unexplainable fear? This leads to my idea of reincarnation and if you drowned in a previous life, you're scared to death of water in this life.
My two cents worth of thoughts!
My Fears: The bathroom at night Singing a solo Rejection
Top three at least.

JoVo MaiKun Oh god, No. gonk *Dies.* I'm not usually afraid of spiders, but that's going to have me looking at my feet every other minute. *Goes to get shoes on. Seriously.* That's why I always check my shoes. Did you know the hunter spider can actually create a nest inside a shoe overnight? So you stick your foot inside your shoe, and suddenly... SNAP! Then it's always a fun ride to the hospital to stop the infection. Spiders can cause massive infections. They're not all poisonous, but you do have to worry about gangrene. I've seen someone get a spider bite that got infected. They had to get their whole leg amputated. It was very sad. sad *Beats JoVo.* Stop that, Nargh! I now feel retardedly paranoid of spiders. I'm just like that. How mean. gonk
