These are all the documents I have prior to my birth. It's strange, reading back on all these events, all these journal entries, all of these exchanged letters. I barely remember my father; certainly, I remember his presence, but I never knew what sort of person he was.

I see a serious man, caring in his own way. One who'd likely not know what to do with a baby when she arrived. But one who'd still try, brow knitted in stern concentration.

The people he and my mother mention in these entries are mostly unfamiliar to me, save for a few notable exceptions. My brother, Boyan. My niece (despite her being my elder), Melody. My uncle, Vilden. Tsu-Tsu, the godfather I can only recall as a feeling.

Anandra, if I recall correctly, was something of a plant sprite whose species briefly made itself known on Gaia. I never got a chance to meet her.

Chence Ramory is my Uncle Vilden's partner in their organization; the closest thing Neilan has to a military. It's more of a self-defense force, really. There's more to it than that, of course, but it's easier to explain it that way. Lillian Haladet is their commanding officer.

I don't recall anything about Naida Johansson. She was present when my mother first opened the Jejune June's doors, and its very first employee, but she was gone shortly after I was born.

And then, the creation of Jokeph. The strongest constant in my life, the one who has always been by my side. It's surreal to see him referred to as a piece of furniture. To think of him as a thing being built. He was born shortly before I was, his soul tied to my own. And so we have spent our entire lives.

As for events... I recall Halloween of that year being a rather chaotic time. Ransom, another child conceived through the GMFC, was more heavily affected than I, but I couldn't tell you how or why. And the strange woman in the clinic who assaulted my mother and caused my mind to develop the way it was-- Sometimes I wonder what I would have been like had I been born as a normal half-breed, the product of a mating between Human and Neilani, with constant exposure to the Porcelain. I suppose, perhaps, I would not be too different.

Junyi had seen enough movies to know that the process of being in labor was a hellish ordeal that involved a lot of screaming, cursing at the father, and embarrassing situations involving water breakage.

Of course, it seemed that she was due to learn that life wasn't what she saw on TV.

"You know..." she hissed, glancing over her shoulder at the tall man huddled on the floor in front of her. "...Tsukiba is going to be so pissed that I had to come HERE, to his cottage, of all places."

Jokeph glanced up sullenly, looking very much like an overgrown child. His lower lip was stuck out in a pout that would be comical if it weren't so heart-wrenching, his too-small clothes hung in tatters around his broad frame, and he sat curled in a ball, his hands wrapped around the bottoms of his bare feet.

He had no idea who Tsukiba was, other than the faint projections of exhausted joy that came from Luna at the mention of his name.

Joy...

His pout receded and his eyes closed briefly as he let that one projection wash over him.

Joy.

That was good. If she just focused on--

"Oh, s**t," Junyi squeaked, gritting her teeth together as a fresh wave of pain slammed into her full-force.

As the pain hit, Junyi squeezed her eyes shut, her mind a jumble of half-formed curses, prayers, wishes, and apologies.

She didn't want to put Luna through this. She COULDN'T put Luna through this.

But she had to. She still had Yeu's locket, but for Junyi to be isolated from Luna's mind at that time... how could she forgive herself if something went wrong?

And it sure as hell felt like something was going wrong right now.

Jokeph could only watch helplessly as the baby absorbed the pain and projected it as if it were her own.

Junyi had said the baby was fine. The baby didn't SEEM fine, but there was nothing anybody could do. Jokeph couldn't protect her while she was still inside the womb, Jokeph didn't know how to remove the child from the mother, and while Junyi continued to assure him the pain would be over soon and that Luna was completely unharmed...

It nearly drove him mad, but all he could do was watch.

As the reflected projections of pain reached his mind, he hugged his legs even closer to his body, a lone tear sliding down his cheek and splashing on his knee, bleaching and eating away the fabric that covered it.

Nothing he could do...

And as the pain subsided, he simply rocked back and forth on the floor, burying his face in his knees.

Nothing he could do.

Dammit, where the hell is YEU?!

Junyi gritted her teeth as a fresh wave of pain seemed to slap her in the belly and she bit back the urge to scream.

How long has it been? Ten hours? Twelve? TV said the birth would only take fifteen minutes!

Yeu yawned as Yun dragged him along; he wasn't exactly sure where they were going, nor did he really care... or actually, he reminded himself, he's a she now.

Yeu stumbled after a very insistent Yun, not that's out of ordinary, you should see when he found out there was mochi in the house.

Although she was able to keep from actually screaming out loud, the mental noise Junyi was giving off was akin to a thousand sirens screeching at once, setting off a thousand car alarms, while a thousand yappy dogs yipped at the top of their lungs and...

Jokeph, still huddled at the foot of Junyi's bed, literally WINCED at the noise, and buried his face in his knees.

It's debatable if the fact that unless he's absolutely awake, Yeu was about as deaf as a... well, deaf man, telepathy or no. Yun, however, wasn't so fortunate and cringed at the mental noise. Which caused him to tug even more insistently at Yeu's sleepy a** and towards where the origin of the noise is.

When that particular wave of pain was over, Junyi flopped against the bed, panting heavily. "...Dammit..." she muttered, her eyes filling with dramatic tears. "...This is NOT going well. Not going well at all. I am stating the obvious, but this is not going well."

She seemed to be speaking to the ceiling. At this point, the ceiling was her best friend. It was quiet, comforting, and always there. And ceilings protect from rain. And hail. And snow. And--

"...Son of a...!"

Suddenly the door burst open, and Yun deposited a still very out of it Yeu at the floor. She blinked several times as to get used to the different lighting, then noticing Junyi, she waved stupidly... most of her braincells were definitly still on vacation.

Jokeph immediately leapt to his feet, his eyes wide with panic. His first impulse was to flee, but where was he going to go? Out the window?

Besides, Junyi seemed pleased by his presence, and so did... Mistress Lunaaaaaa~~

"Where the hell were you?" Junyi hissed, her nails nearly ripping holes into the sheets. "Yeu, I need HELP. NOW."

"Huh?.... what?" Yeu mumbled absent-mindedly. "What are you talking about?"

"THE BABY!" Junyi finally screamed.

"The baby, oh ya, you told me there was one..." Yeu scratched her head as she stood up and yawned. "What about it?"

Junyi leveled an absolutely murderous glare at Yeu. "So help me, if you are SERIOUS, I am going to kill you when this is all over."

"How do I help?" Yeu said a bit lazily. "It's IN your belly you know, unless it's coming out, how am I suppose to help?"

"She IS coming out!" Junyi shot back. If only she could foam at the mouth!

For those who were more in-tune to the mental noises, that loud pop you just heard was Yeu's brain overloading and blowing a fuse.

"Well?! Hurry up!"

Yeu stood here, looking... quite stupid. Yun rolled his eyes at the former man and kicked him in the leg... hard.

With a loud yelp, Yeu reconnected to reality.

"...Please..." Junyi begged, her voice shaky. "...I d-don't think things are normal."

"Well... errr... okay. What am I suppose to do? Should I call for a doctor? Who do I call?" Yeu was starting to panic.

"I think it's too late for--" With another gasp, Junyi gritted her teeth once more, the room once again being filled with deafening mental noise.

Yeu, thankfully in one of his 'deaf' days, tries to think hard what she can do as she wrings her hands. Yun, however, itsn't so lucky and nearly doubles over from the noise.

"Just... deliver her... okay?" Junyi finally choked out. "Or SOMETHING."

"How do I do that?" Yeu nearly screams. "You know I flunked biology!"

As if that one statement literally summoned him, Boyan stormed into the back room, swaying from the projections but still alert enough to project EXACTLY what Yeu needed to do. Boyan would know; he's done it before.

Yeu looked a bit dumbfounded as to where the hell Boyan had come from, but he'll put those things aside for now. Asking Yun to fetch some hot water, Yeu tried to summon his barely-there telepathy talents so he could listen to what Boyan had to say.

....Boyan SAID it's not that DIFFICULT.

With an irritated sigh, he brushed past Yeu.

Boyan will do it. Just comfort Junyi or something before she explodes.

That he... she can do. Quickly going to the head of the bed, Yeu took Junyi's hand and held it tightly.

Yun returned with some hot water and towels, and setting it next to Boyan.

Momentarily shoving his overwhelming hatred for Yun to the back of his mind, Boyan glanced at him.

Boyan will need some help. Could Yun work with those?

....And he'd better be taking notes, because he's going to have to do this himself someday.

Yun nodded, oblivious to any negative emotions, and wet the towels while Yeu continued to try to soothe Junyi.

Junyi's... glad that Yeu could make i--

The last of her thoughts abruptly cut off as she squeezed the daylight out of Yeu's poor hand.

It would hurt like hell, but having got the same hand crushed by rocks a few times before somehow prepared her for this task- you never know where you get your practice, ne?

Boyan's eyes widened. Oh... SICK!

Human births were officially gross.

Yun offered Boyan some wet towels, either to clean up or to blind himself with.

As tempting as blinding sounds...

Boyan decided Yun should do the cleaning. Boyan thiiiiiinks there's just a little more to go.

Frowning lightly, Yun steeled himself for the task. And swearing to himself that he would never put himself in this position again, a vow most likely be broken.

As the loud mental babbling of an uncomfortable, overwhelmed, and extremely cold baby filled the air, Junyi's deathgrip on Yeu relaxed, and she sank against the pillows, too dazed to move.

"Ow," she whispered hoarsely. "Oh my god. Ow."

"Good work." Yeu murmured.

"Shut up."

Boyan staggered under the weight of the baby, stumbling backwards slowly. "...H... Help..." he choked out, unsure if Yeu would be able to hear him if he simply projected the feelings.

Yeu looked to be a little uncomfortable leaving Junyi's side, but Yun rushed over to see what Boyan needed help with.

"Yeu..." Junyi choked out. "...Take your daughter before Boyan drops her."

Yeu frowned lightly, but did so. He guessed that Junyi had momentary forgotten he had a fear of blood... just a little bit.

As soon as Luna was picked up by Yeu, she immediately turned her face towards Yeu's chest. One didn't need to hear the projections of exhausted hunger to guess what she was doing.

"...She didn't even make a sound," Junyi mumbled sleepily, yawning. "She's okay, right? Just projecting is enough? ...I screamed a lot as a baby, but I don't know if my brother did..." she babbled.

Trying not to gag, Yeu nodded and tried to wash the baby free of blood, leaving the two Porcelain to do any after work.

"...Give her to me," Junyi finally croaked, holding out her arms. "...I.. I'll do it. And then I'll sleep."

Yeu nodded again, making sure her daughter was clean before placing her in Junyi's arm. Then she kissed the other woman's forhead.

"Good work, she's beautiful."

"She's... your baby, too..." Junyi mumbled, already nodding off.

"That she is." Yeu smiles. "But you did most of the work."

"Mm.." Junyi yawned. "...Sorry... I yelled..."

"It's okay, that was just a rude awakening."

"If you were here, it wouldn't have been a surprise."

"I'm sorry, I got caught up in work." Yeu said. "I didn't notice the time."

Junyi was already asleep.

Yeu smiled lightly and tucked the blanket securly around Junyi before turning to help the others clean up.

Jokeph could only watch silently as Luna was fed, cleaned, diapered, and moved to one of the baskets that the Porcelain babies had slept in.

It was a tight squeeze, but she didn't seem upset about it at all.

However, as soon as the room emptied out, Jokeph nearly DOVE across the floor, sprawling awkwardly on his stomach in front of the basket, peering at Luna through large, sparkly eyes.

Mistress Luna...

For the first time in his short life, Jokeph smiled.

"..Aahh," Luna declared, one arm awkwardly flailing against the side of her basket as she regarded Jokeph with a vague sense of curiosity.

Jokeph's mouth opened, as if attempting to mimic the sound from Luna. He still remained silent, however, and simply watched Luna with a look of pure adoration on his face.

His smile grew wider as she poked at his mind curiously, and he grew more relaxed as she began drifting off to sleep, her mind a pleasant, gentle hum.

Mistress Luna. Beautiful, PERFECT Mistress Luna.

Oi. Giant. Boyan brought dinner.

Carefully squeezing into the room, Boyan lugged a tray inside; one bowl contained plain, bland chicken soup. The other had five-alarm curry. Setting the tray on the floor, he picked the bowl of curry up and slowly moved to Jokeph's side.

...Is he hungry?

Jokeph only had the vaguest idea what hunger was, but his stomach HAD been hurting and making funny noises. He regarded Boyan with suspicion, but seeing as how he knew how to make poor Mistress Luna not hurt anymore...

He gingerly took the bowl and pulled himself into a sitting position.

Boyan smiled gently as he set a fork into the bowl, gesturing wildly.

Jokeph should put the food in his mouth, chew, and swallow. Then he won't be hungry anymore.

An emphatic nod punctuated his instructions.

Jokeph stared at the bowl and the fork apprehensively, but he finally picked up the utensil and clumsily maneuvered a bite of curry into his mouth before chewing and swallowing.

His eyes suddenly lit up as he dug into the curry, looking much like a two-year-old as he devoured the food and attempted to learn to use a fork correctly, all in one sitting.

When he finally finished, his face was covered in curry, but he didn't seem to care. He simply let out a long breath, curled into a ball next to the basket, closed his eyes, and was out like a light.

Great googly-moogly, it hurts to move. I know childbirth was supposed to hurt, but holy crap.

Boyan's prior driving experience came in handy when I decided I needed to go to the hospital after the birth.

Good lord. That was an awkward experience. Boyan was too short to both steer AND reach the pedals, so Melody had to sit underneath him and work the pedals. I think I had enough jerky starting and stopping to last me a lifetime. We didn't get pulled over, and we didn't crash into anything (Thanks to Boyan's expert instruction: "PUSH THE PEDAL BUT NOT TOO MUCH BECAUSE I DON'T WANT TO GO OVER TEN MILES PER HOUR"

I'm glad we had a car seat; Luna didn't seem fazed by the drive, but I think Jokeph was about two steps away from shitting a brick.

Long story short, I required stitches. ....And I was scolded for not coming in sooner, like WHEN I WAS HAVING THE BABY.

A little late for that now, aye?

On the way back, we stopped by Ian's store for some clothes for Jokeph, because I'll be DAMNED if he walks around in those tattered clothes and no shoes. That Celestial Chaos thing? Total lifesaver. It helped Boyan pick out things that would actually fit; who knew it could do that?

Well, that's what I assume, really. In truth, I fell asleep in the car.

Luna's a handful, but a good handful. She's EXTREMELY quiet. I think I've only heard a peep out of her once, and it wasn't even a cry. She projects really loudly, though, so I guess that's a trade-off. She always thinks she's starving to death. Gah.

I'm surprised at how coordinated she is already. Yeah, she's pretty jerky as far as movements go, but I didn't think she'd be able to grab my hair and gnaw on it! You learn something new every day.

Speaking of which, she's awake again, which means she's starving to death.

Moo.

When I woke up just a few minutes ago to get a drink of water, I noticed that Luna was missing! I, being the good mother that I am, promptly panicked.

Nevermind the fact that I could still sense her. Nevermind the fact that she seemed perfectly happy. Nevermind the fact that she was obviously nearby and comfortable and healthy.

I am such a dork.

I found her in the living room with Jokeph. He had wrapped her in his scarf and was actually holding her! That's a new one on me; I thought he absolutely hated human contact. I guess this is a step in the right direction for him; especially since he seemed happy when I peeked in on them.

Jokeph was sitting on the floor; tons of books surrounding him. Boyan must've picked them out; the one right in front of him was "Green Eggs and Ham". There were other childrens' books around him, and a few kindergarten workbooks with half-completed exercises in them.

Luna was happily chewing on this weird plush that I don't remember buying for her. What's a Dough Mo-kun? It looks disturbing.

They seemed so happy and peaceful together like that. Warms the heart, really.

When I got back from the kitchen (I had taken quite a while; I was REALLY thirsty), Jokeph sprung another surprise on me. I peeked back into the living room, and he was busy scribbling away on a notecard.

It read, "Mistress wants something less fuzzy to taste."

I know he's been studying for a while, but it caught me off guard, nonetheless. I guess it didn't occur to me that he already KNOWS language; it's the letters that give him trouble. In either case, he's doing extremely well.

I couldn't find anything non-fuzzy and baby-appropriate for Luna right away, though, so I gave her a baseball.

..........What?! It was clean!

In other news, Boyan and Melody are starting to disturb me. They've been singing this weirdly catchy tune ALL FREAKING DAY. They also raided my desk and used up all my double-sided tape. Now there are two balls of linty tape stuck to my dresser. I think there might be a pixacat stuck in there somewhere; I keep hearing this tiny, pitiful mewling.

Thanks a lot, guys. REAL mature.

I'm going back to sleep.

Even though it's Christmas, I kept the shop open anyway. I don't celebrate Christmas, and you never know who's going to want to come in for a cup of coffee. Most of the people who live in Port Gino live by themselves; it's only fair that I stay open in case they need someone to spend the holiday with.

As luck would have it, people DID come, which always warms the heart. I love their money presence.

I met one woman, however, who seemed to be troubled... I wish I could help her, but I think that all of my attempts to relate were met with failure.

She's also the first person to notice right off the bat that I'm not exactly human, which is a little unnerving. I'm closer to human than most of my race, and for ME to be noticed... I think I'm going to have to report it, even though I don't really want to. We've got this whole "Men In Black" thing going, so...

I won't think about it for now.

We have a Christmas tree set up in the house, because most of the people in the household DO celebrate Christmas. I was a bit worried; I've never had so many sparkly objects in plain view of Boyan before, and I was honestly afraid I'd come home to find him a vegetable in front of the christmas lights.

...I found him sitting in front of the TV with a Dynasty Warriors game, beating a** as his namesake.

I guess that's marginally better.

He had somehow managed to convince Jokeph to play; I suppose it's only fitting that he picked Zhang He.

Luna was asleep in his lap, bundled in his scarf again.

The scene was just so... CUTE.

Just adorable.

Now I want to know where all these legos on the floor came from. stare

1.06.05 - A New Year
Yeu

It's about time this journal gets another man's touch, although technically I'm lacking the Y chromosome right now, but I think we can forget about that little detail right now, ne?

Luna... is more beautiful than I've ever imagined. Too bad I haven't been home too much lately despite my efforts. But I'm hopeing that all the work I'm doing now will entitle me to a long vacation afterwards.

To catch up on where I left off the last time, my mother returned my call. To make everything short, she immediately tried to make me the daughter that my sister wasn't and started to propose of all the mother-daughter thing we can do together, much to my horror that is. I decided that hanging up the phone was a logical step to save my sanity when she started to talk about getting me into my sister's old dresses.

Li... she's not too happy about being a aunt (I think our family all have a phobia against growing old) but with her work, that's the last thing on her mind right now. I just hope she's taking care of herself.

Yeau... I can't find the dude. I seriously can't. It seemed that he took off from my parents one day and just... left. Like he always does. He says that he's a floater and I should just let him be, and I say him being the oldest son he should take more responcibilities.

Dad in the mean time, are having tea in the background while I go off the wall about everything. Then comments that I probably need more sugar in my diet so I would have more energy. Yes, quite the normal family I have here.

And reminder to self: Tell Junyi that my mother wants a box full of Luna's snapshots. She might also borrow her for a day to perform some ceremonies. Although knowing my mother... I won't trust her with any magical tailsmans.

Who's a good Luna? Who's a good Luna? LUNA'S a good Luna!

Boyan grinned goofily as he hefted the giggling Luna onto his shoulders, only momentarily staggering under the weight.

Is it just him, or is she growing like a weed?

Luna simply continued to giggle and pull at Boyan's hair, projecting clearly giddy thoughts as she echoed Boyan's mental coos toward her.

Luna's a good Luna! Luna's a good Luna!

Haha-- ow. Ow. Ow!

Still, Boyan continued to grin and coo at Luna, bouncing her on his shoulders as he carried her into the kitchen to investigate the food-like smells coming from within.

Oi, is Jokeph done with dinner yet?

Jokeph jumped slightly as Boyan barged into the kitchen, but quickly relaxed as he saw the giggling Luna atop his shoulders.

He paused for a moment to smile gently at Luna and her giggly thoughts, and then turned back to the saucepan on the stove. He slowly stirred the bubbling sauce within with a wooden spoon, and then held a small amount out for Boyan to taste.

Boyan blew on the sauce before taking a taste... and immediately let out a muffled shriek.

Hot! Hot! HOT! gonk He struggled desperately to keep his emotions in check as his eyes watered, his sinuses drained, and his mouth BURNED.

MEDIC.

He almost cried out for water, but suddenly remembered what happened the LAST time he tasted Jokeph's cooking and asked for water afterwards.

Right. Five-alarm chili plus water equals ten-alarm chili.

Instead, he begged for milk.

Jokeph stared at Boyan a while, processing the demands. Finally, he retrieved a glass, strode to the kitchen, and poured Boyan a glass of milk before turning back to the sauce.

.___.

As Boyan chugged the glass of milk, Luna could only stare at the pot in wonder. It smelled tasty! 4laugh

With a happy, quiet squeal, she reached out toward the pot.

Luna wants to taste!

Jokeph blinked, glancing at Luna. If the sauce did that much damage to Boyan, he didn't think it'd be safe for Luna to taste...

But as Luna's demands grew more and more insistent, he quickly relented and lifted the spoon out of the sauce, blowing on it before holding it out to Luna.

Luna happily leaned forward and took as much of the spoon in her mouth as she could, drooling and tasting with gusto. She showed no sign of discomfort whatsoever as she chewed on the spoon, instead giving happy projections that could be taken as an "Mmmm!"

Jokeph could only stare at Luna as she attempted to devour the poor spoon. She wasn't damaged, which was a relief to Jokeph; he wouldn't have forgiven himself for caving to her demands if she had gotten hurt.

And the fact that Mistress Luna enjoyed his cooking made his heart swell with pride! 4laugh

Jokeph gently removed the spoon from Luna's mouth and dunked it back into the sauce. He didn't mind the presence of Luna-drool in the sauce, and since Boyan likely wasn't going to eat it- or let his daughter eat it...

More for Jokeph! 4laugh

Luna once again turned her attention to Boyan's hair, and began chewing on his hair once more. Awwwwwwr!

Awww-- ow.

Boyan simply stood there, letting Luna drool on his head as he waited for the burning to fade away completely.

He's going to go pass Luna off to Melody while he takes a bath.

Jokeph nodded; as long as he could sense Luna, he would be fine.

Boyan couldn't help but grumble as he meandered through the large house, searching for Melody and Luna. They had been out in the back yard before, and Boyan could still sense them...

...So why couldn't he find anything in this damn house?!

He let out a long breath, sighing loudly. He would find them. Just... follow the sound of giggling babies.

Within minutes, he had traced the sound all the way to...

...The master bathroom?

This couldn't be good.

With images of Lunas in the toilet flashing through his head, Boyan flung the door open...

...And nearly fell over himself with shock.

Luna sat on top of the closed toilet lid (Much to Boyan's relief), dressed in Melody's old dress from when she was a child the first time. On her face was the carefully drawn makeup of a Porcelain female.

She waved her arms happily, the fabric of the sleeves flowing wildly around her as she giggled, projecting happy, giddy feelings.

Melody knelt in front of her, supporting her with one arm and admiring her handiwork.

Boyan stepped forward, frowning lightly.

What's going on here? What did Melody DO?!

Melody glanced over her shoulder, smiling cheerfully.

The baby was interested in Melody's makeup, so Melody thought she'd put some on Luna! Wasn't Melody wearing it like this when she was Luna's age? And Luna's a girl, right? So Luna should be wearing the makeup!

Look how happy Luna is!

Boyan couldn't help but smile, watching Luna.

Well... that makes a little bit of sense...

....But what about the clothes?

If Luna is going to wear Porcelain makeup, then Luna should wear Porcelain dresses, too! It fits, see?

But Luna isn't--

Melody frowned. Luna is Melody's auntie (as weird as that is), and Boyan's sister. She is also Uncle Grumpy's sister, and Auntie Yousei's sister, and Mommy's sister. She is also Grandpa Tsukiba's godchild. Take that into account, along with the fact that she already SPEAKS like a Porcelain...

Wouldn't Porcelain dress be appropriate?

But Boyan doesn't know how Junyi would take to--

Melody thinks that the important thing is how Luna would take to it, and Luna likes it.

...True.

Boyan finally smiled.

Besides, Luna looks REALLY damn cute like that.

With a quiet chuckle, he turned and left Melody and Luna to their own devices.

Today, Luna learned why it's a bad idea to pelt strangers wtih mental pokes.

It's a little horrifying just how weak my mind is. I didn't even notice what she was doing until it's too late. She's learning to be quite subtle with her abilities, and all of it goes right under my radar.

Commander Haladet started an exchange program for other Neilani children. Vilden's been sent to supervise, and I've been asked to help the children if they seem a little too lost here, since I've been living here for quite a long time.

Jokeph doesn't seem to be mellowing out at all. Maybe I should just give up trying to get him to be less nervous around people.

Or maybe I'm just going about this all wrong...

02.02.04 - The Promise
Yeu

"You know somethin', Yeu?" My friend began to say.

"No, why don't you enlighten me?" I replied, feeling a bit annoyed. "AFTER we are stranding on firm ground?" Why do people always want to talk when they are crawling in a tunnel somewhere deep underground?

"You are being very touchy lately." He observed.

"That's just your imagination." I almost snapped back. "And if thats your worldly revelation, keep it to yourself next time."

"You are being touchy, especially after that 'incident.'"

"No, I'm not."

"Yes, you are." He said. "Anyway, I was just thinking that after you became a woman..."

I didn't want to hear what he wanted to say, nor waited for him to finish before letting him meet with the bottom of my sand-filled sole, face to face. Okay, maybe I am being a bit touchy, just a little.

"OW~!!!" He reeled back from the kick. "What the hell was that for???"

"Keep your frickin' voice down!!!" I hissed. "You wanna cause a cave in?"

"You just *BEEP* kicked me!" Although I can't turn around, my friend is probably trying to wipe the sand off of his face, and I can feel his annoyance at me.

"Well, you should *BEEP* learn to keep your *BEEP* mouth shut when we are in a confied space!" I wasn't feeling very well, and the heat of the desert right after getting rained on for a few days REALLY got to me. I don't understand why I can't keep calm anymore. Mother tried to explain it's a part of being a woman, but really, I didn't want to hear it.

The argument went downhill from there, and when we finally reach somewhere where we can both stand, we were more interested in cussing each other out than seeing what's around. Which we really should have done, since apparently the room we reached is a part of a tomb that's set up with a trap to catch any thieves (which in case, is us.) Before we knew it, slabs of stone come slamming down out of nowhere. Sealing us in tighter than... well, tight.

"Oh s**t." I murmured, somehow the fight just didn't seem that important anymore. "Oh *BEEP.*"

As I slump against the stone walls, I wondered if I would get out of this alive. Sudden regrets filled my thoughts; I should have bought Junyi something last time I went back home, I should have called my parents more often and showed them more respect, and I should have played with Luna instead of busying myself with work. I bet she barely knows her father.

If I get out of this alive, I promised myself, if ANY god's listening to me, please get me out of this alive so I can spend some quality time with my little Edae. It's time I reorder my priorities.

It woke Jokeph first.

A loud, muddled projection of absolute terror, horrifying in its vagueness. It was a quick mental cry, followed by a sleep-addled stream of quiet, shaky thoughts; desires for warmth, comfort, love...

Nightmares. Luna's.

In a flash, Jokeph was on his feet, his heart pounding in his chest as the most profound feeling of panic washed over him.

Locked out of the nursery again, but with enough effort, Jokeph could at least rip the doorknob off... or tear the door off its hinges or...

Now wasn't the time to contemplate such things. The important thing was that Luna was terrified and alone, with no chance of her mother hearing her if what Jokeph remembered was accurate. And Jokeph would be DAMNED if he let that continue unchecked.

He took a few steps backward, raising his hands and aiming them at the door.

He never did understand what the orbs di--

As soon as the thought crossed his mind, the orbs began to glow, burning hotly as they seemed to charge...

And suddenly, the door disintegrated. Before Jokeph even knew what he had done, a loud bang echoed through the halls; the result of a fast-moving ball of acid slamming against Luna's door and eroding everything it touched. Paint peeled, the carpet bleached, holes were eaten through floor, wall, and ceiling, and Jokeph's own nightclothes hung in tatters around him, but he didn't notice.

All that mattered was that he could get to Luna. Without a second thought, he rushed inside and instinctively scooped Luna up, not caring that he was covered in acidic goo. Not caring that she was cradled against bare skin. Not caring that his flesh crawled at the touch, even from Luna.

As the projections began to fade, Jokeph simply held Luna protectively, pressing his forehead to hers as if that would solve everything. The feeling sent shudders down his spine, but he didn't care. She was safe, she was unharmed, and she was no longer alone. She calmed quickly, and Jokeph relaxed, his own discomfort at being touched beginning to fade. She was safe. Jokeph couldn't harm her. Jokeph--

"What the HELL?!" Junyi shrieked, frozen at the doorway to Luna's room. Her chest heaved frantically as she stopped to catch her breath, eyes wide and heart racing. "What was that noise? Jokeph, what did you DO?!"

Jokeph simply clutched Luna even more tightly, his eyes briefly meeting Junyi's.

He was right. She DIDN'T hear.

It's harder to juggle a baby and a ancient text than she originally thought it would be, especially considering that both need careful handling and need to be kept apart. Finally, deciding that her arms are getting tired, Yeu sets the baby down on the floor, letting her played with the pair of infants already on the floor, hoping that the three won't make a mess.

Why does she suddenly feels like her study has just become the new nursery?

Luna blinks, eyeing the others with some interest before scooting back toward Yeu, her projections happy, bubbly, and full of curiosity, as if to demand to see what her father is doing.

Lawfer really couldn't care for what the others are doing, although he did watch Luna with curiously when she's first set down. His twin, however, paid much more attention to the their new companion. While the red adu played with his ball like Yeu had asked, Lezard crawls towards Luna, mischief already apparent in his eyes.

:O, answers Luna, turning her attention toward him. What is THIS newcomer? A friend? A sibling? Does he wish to play? She grins at him, projecting a faint greeting in his direction.

Lezard, although still unknown if he possess any telepathic ability, nerveless still reply with a smile. He flaps his leathery wings a bit, and tries to the best of his abilities, in his baby talk, asking if Luna wants to play.

Again with the strange noises. Luna seems less interested in what he has to say and more interested in the wings on his back. Her eyes lighting up, she quickly navigates toward him, reaching for the wings.

If only Yeu knows what's going on, she should probably be thankful that Lezard's wings aren't sharp like Lawfer's, or Luna might find her tiny soft hands blossom like a peeled onion. Lezard on the other hand, already knows early in life that of all things, he does NOT like his wing pulled, so as Luna approaches, her chubby arms aiming for his wings, he backs away.

With a frown, Luna plops on the ground. That.... that's no fair. .__.

Temporary safe, Lezard's mind is already beginning to work. Crawling forward a few inches, he tempts Luna to chase after him.

Luna easily takes the bait, crawling after him curiously. Why does he tempt her so? Is he made out of things that taste strange? There's only one way to find out, of course...

Lawfer gives another look at the playing pair, part of him wishes that he can join, but another part of him has a very (primal) feeling that his twin is up to no good. So he decides that stuffing the soft rubbery ball in his mouth might be more fun.

Lezard continues to tempt the girl infant, keeping his pace slower so she can think she's gaining on him only to pull away at the last moment.

Yeu is in a blissful heaven as she tries to decipher the new map that she had bought in a flea market, it looks promising, but there are only one way to find out...

Luna continues crawling after Lezard, eyes wide. Slow dooooooooooooooooown! crying

The young adu's eyes suddenly sees something in the back of his vision, and his eyes narrows slightly. Purposely stopping in a certain spot, he watches with anticipation as the other closes in on him.

FINALLY! With a happy mental squeal, Luna dives...

Hmm? What is that over there? With a almost way to perfect timing for one so young, Lezard moves out of the way of the incoming plunging torpedo.

Luna SLAMS into a pile of books, sending them tumbling over as she squeals unhappily.

Lawfer looks up from his blissful chewing of the rubber ball just in time to see a flash and a *BANG* That's going to leave a mark...

Yeu, jolted out of her happy world, accidentally drops the pen she's using. She quickly turns around, and eyes widen at the mess with her daughter as it's filling. Just as she gets up, she see the large, disfiguring stain on the precious new map and scrambles to save the ancient document from absolute ruin. But then there is her daughter, for all she knows, suffocating under all the books. With tears in her eyes, Yeu unwilling lets go of the map and starts to dig for the baby.

Lezard in the mean time, has returned to Lawfer's side, and takes over the ball that his twin had dropped in shock, but also dropped the toy after noticing how drool covered it was.

Luna sniffles loudly, clinging tightly to Yeu as her mind is an incoherent babble of discomfort and shock. crying The books attacked her! They fell on her! She fell into them and she thinks a corner scratched her cheek and...

Seeing that her hand's going to be full with three babies, a piled of books (with one of the said babies as it's cream filling), and a soon to be unsalvageable map.

"Yun, Boyan!" She shouts. "I need your help, NOW"

Then her mind catches up with her. "I mean, MELODY!"

Eh? Help from Melo? Melody RACES into the study, beaming proudly. Melody is here to help! What does Yeu need help w...

She suddenly stops when she sees the scene in front of her.

Is the chibi okay?!

Yun arrives about five paces behind Melody and almost face faults at the scene. He just cleaned the room this morning! He finally put all the books back in order! He finally... then the Porcelain locates the two Aduthule in one of the corners of the room. The red one is currently cowering while the blue one looks suspiciously innocent.

That deserves to be noted.

"Help me get the books out of the way." Yeu directs. "Oh god, Junyi's going to kill me if she's here."

Melo thought she was at work! In either case, she frantically begins flinging away from Luna, not caring where or how they land. They're just silly little bundles of paper; a life is much more valuable than those!

Luna, however, is not pleased. She begins sniffling audibly, tears streaming from her eyes. This has just been a HORRIBLE day!

Yun almost faints at the mess that Melody's making, but she's right, Luna's more important than any books, Yeu can always find another copy. Right?

The said person would love to agree, but seeing her precious collection ruined so only brings tears to her eyes, why do they HAVE to do that to her precious... wait, is that a arm she sees? She digs faster, hoping to free the baby before any permanent harm is done.

Luna flails frantically, her choked cries becoming more desperate.

Can't... breathe...

Throwing 'Twelve Ways to End the World' and 'How to Resurrect Ancient Evils' aside, Yeu picks up 'Creatures that Should Not-Be-Named' and tosses it aside, the parent finally locates the baby and pulls her free.

Seeing that the young one is safe (for now,) Yun immediately moves on to the next thing on the list. Locating the cause, and he has a pretty good idea who is responsible as he glares at the twin adu.

Luna sucks in a wheezing breath, finally able to cry properly... and cry she does. She buries her face in Yeu's chest and sobs pitifully, hiccuping as she sucks in gasping breaths between sobs.

Melody is simply glad Jokeph is practically passed out. @_@

Comforting the baby in low and gentle whispers, she turns around and sees that her map is indeed, unsalvageable. Choking down a cry, she continues to gently pat the baby's back and murmurs comforting words, since she also needs it herself.

Yun on the other hand, advances on the other pair of young babies to the side. With Doom and Gloom in his eyes.

Melody follows Yun, her gaze stern.

Someone is going to get a time-out.

Lezard is finally looking a bit fearfully at the two towering(from his POV) Porcelains while Lawfer looks like he's about to faint.

Yun sends out a warning, whoever cause that mess to happen BETTER come forward, of they both gets it.

And Melo will make sure they don't get cookies, either!

Her threats don't seem to be very threatening.

The two adus looks at each other, each obviously knows who's at fault. But as much as Lawfer wants to make that point, he couldn't. Lezard, however, doesn't have that ethics problem, and pushes his twin foward so that the other lands flat on his face. The red Adu looks at in fear at their prosecutors, maybe wondering if the two's going to eat him.

Melody stares at Yun, frowning. She doesn't think the red one did it. ._. Did Uncle Grumpy see how willing the other one was to backstab him? >O

Yun suddenly realizes one thing though, more important than finding the criminal. How are they, a species communicating solely with telepathy suppose to communicate with a species that as of yet, HAVEN'T showed much aptitude for such ability?

Melo thought Yun could write?

Yun blushes slightly. Did she say write? Yes. But writing coherently is another matter.

Meanwhile, unable to understand their debate, Lawfer is nearly wetting his pants.

Melody gently leans forward and pats Lawfer's head, but is certain to glare at Lezard. She is nearly certain that the other one did it, the backstabbing sneak. >O

Now, now. Yun disagrees. There is nothing proving anyone's innocence, which also means there isn't anything to prove anyone's guilty either. But Yun's SURE he stacks the books well enough that it won't fall from anything less than a charging baby. What does Melody think they should do with them since Yeu's still busy comforting a crying baby and trying not to cry herself?

......Melody has no earthly idea. .__. She does, however, continue patting Lawfer's head.

Yun thinks about it for a few moments. Should they... punish the two?

Why should they punish them if they're not even proven guilty? And what kind of punishment did Uncle Grumpy have in mind, anyway?

Well, that's a good question, what can you punish a baby to do?

Spankings, sitting in the corner...

Melody thinks they should sit in the corner!

Yun tilts his head to one side. They are babies, can they sit in a chair without someone supporting them?

They could just get a time-out, couldn't they?

Good idea. Yun nods as he picks up Lawfer, leaving the suspicous one for Melody.

Melody quickly picks up Lezard, glaring harshly at him as she drags him off to another corner. He is going to have the time-out of his LIFE! >O

Getting the inking that he's NOT going to like what's going to happen, Lezard turns on his baby cuteness and puppy eye super tech to full power and directs them at Melody. Can anyone looking like THIS be guilty? No way, right?

Melody seems to melt for an instant, but her expression quickly hardens. Those sort of tricks aren't going to work on MELODY. She pulled the exact same things as a baby, so she knows what to look for, see? She plops him down in the corner, spins him around until he's facing the wall, and steps back, still glaring at the back of his head.

Yun, from farther down the hallway. Stops and looks puzzingly at what Melody's doing. Aren't they just going to put the babies back in the nusery and into their cribs?

.............Oh. That works too.

With a sigh, Melody picks Lezard up and begins dragging him out of the room.

Yun sighs and loudly begins to complain how he's going to have to rearrange the entire study, right after he cleans out all of Yeu's tear stains.

Melody frowns, her lip trembling. But it's not the CHIBI'S fault! She didn't know any better!

Yun turns to her, did he even mentions the Luna yet? Did Melody see the stains on her? That's going to take some heavy washing and... wait, did Melody hear the water running?

Melody gasps audibly. Luna's MAKEUP! It'll be washed off! Melody has to go get the makeup RIGHT NOW! What if Luna is getting SPLASHED?

Yun almost facefaults again and decides to take a detour down to the bathroom. There, he picks inside of the small room, and his eyes widens.

Oh boy.

Is Luna okay, Melody wonders?

Melody might want to look for herself.

Melody peeks in the bathroom... and immediately whirls away. She can't watch!

Yun nods. Yes, Yeu obviously doesn't know what she's doing, what's she thinking NOT using the baby's bathwash?

Melody is just... going to put this one in his crib... and then find Luna's makeup. @_@;;;

Yun shakes his head, he'll do the same, and helps Melody find that makeup.

Lezard yanks on Melody's hair to make sure she still knows he's waiting to be pampered.

In reply, Melody drops Lezard angrily.

Yun instictively dives for the dropping child and catches it in time, then he realizes that maybe he should have let Lezard drop. The boy can use some lessons.

Melody quickly pulls Lezard out of Yun's arms and continues dragging him down the hall, sighing loudly.

Yun watches Melody disappears down the hall, and fliches at a particularly off-key in Yeu's barely passable song. Sighing, he follows her and decides that maybe, leaving Luna alone with her father for once won't kill her.

02.20.05 - Journal Entry
Junyi

I never thought things could POSSIBLY get this hectic. I still want to support my own weight, especially since I feel horrible for imposing on Yeu. First the baby, then moving in, then all the chaos as of late...

It's somewhat sad how quickly money slips through my fingers.

First, there's the coffeehouse. Business is going well, but betwen the upkeep and Naida's wages, there just isn't much left over.

I'm getting TWO paychecks from the Neilani government; one is for keeping an eye on the Neilani exchange students running amok around Gaia, and the other is for something I'm not allowed to disclose. In either case, they're meant to cover expenses, and they do exactly that. They, however, don't leave much left over.

Which brings me to now. The Clinic was hiring, and since I already knew the procedures and protocol, for the most part (After all, I've been there!), Dr. Kamiki hired me on as a temp. The pay was enough to get the much-needed repairs on the house made, thank GOD.

I never really understood until now just how popular such a clinic was, though. I was asked to help sort through applications, and ho-lee s**t. So many of them! Were there this many when I applied? How did I even GET THROUGH?

The horrible thing was that we couldn't even accept all of them right now. How do you decide who's more worthy of having a child? How do you even BEGIN?

Somehow, we managed.

My first day on the job was a learning experience. Shuttling back and forth, doing behind-the-scenes work... It's fulfilling, giving back to the clinic that helped me have Luna.

I think I'm going to like it here, even though I won't have ANY free time anymore...

In the middle of it all, I learned that Vilden donated samples for the clinic. Um... YUCK. I even had to handle the cups; had to move them to another shelf.

Ew. Ew ew ew ew ew. There are some things I don't want to handle, and the body fluids of my older sibling is one of them.

I've been washing my hands obsessively since then, and I STILL feel dirty. Yuck.
