It's not that unusual to have a poster a year before a film, especially if they're going to aim for a more viral marketing campaign which in theory work better (Viral is better for films that apply to niche markets much like real Transformers fans).

Twas at Bot'con apparently, the poster has Optimus Prime standing and explosions around him. ( typical )
with Transformers 3 written on the bottom.
My guess is it's just to conclude that there is a third movie. Even though all us fans, already knew that. ||D

I swear I remember a coda on the end of the film version I saw at the cinema with Megatron raising his army but ... it's not on the DVD or Blu-Ray.

I think I know what you are talking about. There was something like that on the end of the decepticon side TF rotf. game.
Megatron returned to the nemesis or cybertron and is like totally surrounded by minions.
I hope they don't kill off optimus again. That would be just sad.
Lol. I always knew he would probably have a hard time ending the movies. I mean the transformers is something that can just keep going on and on.
