I've always like Syaoran, but my sisters thought it wsa odd that i liked a, what, 10-12 year old anime character from a poorly dubbed and incredibly shreadded anime. (thats why you get the fan subs, silly girls)
now that he's older, it makes more sence to them. I have this thing were I like charcaters with sad pasts, maybe its because you constantly want to hug them to make them feel better, i dunno.

little_kitty_chan little_kitty_chan sadly for you people, i dont like him alot...i like kuro. but...i did like him(syaoran) in ccs.....sigh. what happened to the bad temper and the millions of blushing?!!! -sakura well, if you've seen the 2nd movie or even the very end of CCS, Syaoran is much like his TRC self because he has told Sakura that he loved her so all the uneasy blush-y-ness is dumped on Sakura.

[Kibou] *joins* He's easily the best character in Tsubasa, I think. And he's a lot more mature than the CCS days. ^_^ He also has the most CLAMP-ish anime design. =] i...but i liked it when he was immature, and all angry and blushing-like! what was wrong with that? -sakura

Yeah, I believe TRC Syaoran is just an extension of his personality. The biggest thing about Syaoran is his naiviety, which is counter balanced with incredible determination and power.
Besides, thus far in the manga, it seems to indicate that Syaoran had a frieghtening past, making him angry and sad in his youth, much like CCS Syaoran. However, Fujitaka and Sakura's love seems to have melted his cold heart, making him much like he is later in CCS (the scene where he admits his feelings to Sakura stands out in my mind in particular xd )
Oh! And please sign me up for this! Syaoran is my favorite CLAMP character ever. I think he's adorable, and such a dreamboat when he's older heart
