By what authority do you command my charge!? *MK stood fast, gripping the naginata tightly, though trying not to act too aggressive, in the case that the person before them was a leader of some sort*~AMK

'Surely as a fellow Guardian, you don't question the inferiority of the females?' the man retorted, his expression somewhere between confused and angry as he eyed MK. A woman who was still bowing near his seat got up after receiving a nod and grabbed a hold of a large sword, carefully passing it to the Guardian, in case this newcomer wanted to start a fight.

*Making a quick assessment of the situation, he shoveled the s**t on fast and hard, silently gathering more information from around him with Origin*Not for a moment. And forgive our intrusion into your abode. We have traveled far and long to seek out a true solution to our problems. This one... is no good on her knees. She was sentenced to death for having weak legs, but I have found my uses for her, and we have been away as was my condition for bearing her life as my burden. ~AMK

'Any particular reason why you allow her to travel around dressing like a harlot? Or is that part of your uses for her?' the Guardian smirked. He waved a hand lazily at the woman who had grabbed his sword, indicating to her to put it back down. He outstretched a hand for Markuel to shake. Sexist pig! Asphyxia furiously thought, clenching her hands tightly into fists.

*He loosened his grip on the weapon, and took the guardian's hand in a shake*One which is easy on the eyes is easier to work with, do you not agree? The name is Markuel. We've been away so long, it seems, who is in charge these days? *He turned around a moment to give Asphyxia a wink, letting her know that he was handling things in their favor, then pretended to slap her upside the head in order to remove any suspicion.*~AMK

Asphyxia turned away, trying to play the part of the subservient slave, but was still fuming inside, which made it difficult for her to be convincing. 'Heh heh, she still looks like she's got a mind of her own,' the Guardian said, talking about Asphyxia as though she was not there. 'And I'm Kaius. Drink, Markuel?'
He strode across the room, over to another woman, who, like the rest of the females, was dressed in rags, and looked slightly frightened of the men. Snapping his fingers at her, she produced two mugs, and began filling them with ale.

'Sounds like a plan,' Kaius said, passing a mug to Markuel. He then headed back outside, into the snow and the wind.

'It's a tough job, but somebody's got to do it,' he replied, taking a large swig from his mug. The other authoritative looking man inside stood up at that moment. He carried the same air of smugness around him that Kaius did, and was rather elderly; once a Guardian too, but now had to retire. He looked as though he was enjoying his retirement a lot, respected by the others, no longer having to lift a finger, and getting to boss around anyone else who was deemed "inferior" to him, the males who were not Guardians, and any female.
He fixed Asphyxia with a cold glower, looking even more disapproving of her than he did the rest of the women.
'I don't care what that new Guardian says, you'll bow like the others,' he ordered, grabbing her by the shoulder, and forcing her to kneel. Not wanting to aggravate the man, Asphyxia mimicked what the rest of the women did when they entered, and bowed so far that her forehead was practically touching the floor. She felt...incredibly disappointed, and upset. The more she was learning about her own people, the stronger her desire grew to get away from them, and back to Area-21. She had been looking forwards to the idea of potentially meeting her birth parents, but was horrified at the idea of her mother being kept as a slave to an a*****e of a husband.

Well enough, though surely in all this time I've not been the only one to try and leave the ice shelf. Overpopulation or not, keeping alive in this frost is a full time job all its own. There are much fertile lands beyond where feet can travel. You didn't answer my question though, Kaius. Who is running things here? ~AMK

'Haha! You should have toughened up before becoming a Guardian!' Kaius patronisingly laughed. 'I barely feel the cold now - not to the extremes the temperature drops to, anyway. We're run by an imperial government, that can't have slipped your notice? Supreme authority granted to one man, making all the decisions. The drastic cure to the overpopulation problem, classing women as inferior beings to exist to make our lives easier - quite the common mindset, a rule which made him very popular, naturally.' As Asphyxia knelt before the retired Guardian, she had a sneaking suspicion that she was being laughed at. She dared to raise her view, and his expression darkened. He lashed out, striking her across the face. Taken aback, she cried out, holding a hand to her cheek, and then realised her mistake, hastily bowing again, wishing furiously that she, MK and Bristan could just take their chances and run.

Perhaps the warmer lands have spoiled me. Yours is the first building that came to view upon our return, so we have not yet been amongst the populace. A popular idea, perhaps, though what if the women revolt? What if they bear no fruit? Too easy could the tables turn, and the use of force would only quicker to end us all. -Was that a scream just now? ~AMK

'It has been of some concern for a few, but the women are weak. Their powers aren't nearly as strong as the men's, and the same with their physical strength. I personally think it would be as likely as being held hostage by a kitten,' Kaius said, and looked back to the door. 'I guess your friend is misbehaving. Ausric is in there, a retired Guardian. Some even say that he's tougher on the women than the rest of us.'

Seems you have some info that could be of use. *While Kaius was distracted, MK blackjacked him with the base of the naginata, then dropped down reforming as Origin to absorb all the information about the Akumoni as he could. Leaving the man in the snow, he burst back inside to rescue Asphyxia*~Origin
