I Like both Mer De Noms and 13th Step. I don't like eMotive very much because all but two of the songs are covers, and they mutilated Pet with that remix, "Counting Bodies ike Sheep to the Rhythm of the War Drums".

Technically, aren't all of the songs on Emotive covers? Passive is a reworked version of Tapeworm's "Perfect Enemy" and Counting Bodies......eh well I guess that's just a remix. Awful one.
I really liked Freedom of Choice, and some of the other songs but as their own and not comparing them to their original versions. I thought Depeche Mode's People are People was better

Yup, I think I expected more from it too... maybe too much o_o I still like the album though, but I'd say it's just... nice, compared to the other two, which are absolutely more than "just nice" o.o' There's no doubt that their original stuff is much better, Passive (if it counts as theirs... anyway, it's part Maynard's I think xp (and I thought Tapeworm's was called "Vacant" sweatdrop )) was the best song from eMOTIVe, as -for sure- many of you think too...
The remix was bullshit o_o
From the covers I liked Imagine, and the rest of them were cool too, considering I haven't heard all the original versions though...

I think what happened with Passive is that it was originally a demo called "Perfect Enemy" that was either written by Trent Reznor alone or him, Maynard, and Danny from Tapeworm. (either way, Trent was part of it's initial creation) Eventually after the project was deemed as dead, APC did a slighty different live cover of it and was labeled as "Vacant". Then it was reworked some more and tossed onto Emotive as "Passive". Someone asked Trent about it at nin.com:

Didn't eMotive and 13th Step come out in the same year? You can't expect greatness from so little time. Hence, the long wait for Tool albums.
