Lilith

Lilith opened her mouth. Closed it. Opened it again, a slightly baffled look on her face. How the hell could she gave a bloodthirsty assassin to stop killing people? Shelet the expression quickly fall from her face and bowed respectfully. "I shall do everything within my power," she replied, hesitant to say that his will would be done. She could try all she like, but Koji likely wouldn't listen to her. He didn't do things unless there was some sort of personal benifit. She stepped backwards, briefly lowered her head one more time to him, then turned and followed after Koji at a brisque pace.

When she walked through the doors, she immediatly saw the dead corpses. She frowned in response, carefully stepping over the pool of blood that was slowly oozing towards her. she clapped her hands loudly, and after a dozen seconds a duo of guards appeared. She nodded towards the corpses, and they understood her order. Koji was out of sight now, so she increased her pace to a run. This was an impossible mission... but she had to try, The Shadow had asked it of her, so she would do whatever she could. She caught sight of him, gritted her teeth, ran a hand through her hair, then called "wait!" She cringed, feeling like calling out to him was losing some how. Right now, she was asking him to do something for her, it felt... pathetic. She shook her head once. What she felt was irrelivent. This wasn't about her.

KOJI KASSHIN

Koji halted, but it wasn't Lilith's cry that stopped him. He considered his options. There was a slight bend behind him, only a small amount of protection; an alcove roughly man sized, although Koji wasn't sure his muscular, if agile and flexible, body could get in there, especially with a statue to share it with. That left one option. He turned as Lilith came within striking distance. He threw her to the ground, but slid her to the window, just out of sight from beyond the glass, and ran forward. He threw a knife to shatter the glass, not wanting to lose his forward momentum to kick it. He caught the arrow that came sailing in, spun, and threw it back at the assassin. It caught the unlucky man in the chest. He carried on with his leap and landed next to him. He grabbed a handful of cloth and threw the man into the castle, following him with another leap. He calmly picked the man back up, and shoved his hand into his throat. Not a blade concealed on his wrist, just his hand, held like a weapon itself. He ripped out the man's jugular and threw both man and entrails out the window, hearing a thump as they hit the ground. He turned to Lilith. "Now, what did you want," he asked, as though he hadn't just saved her or ripped an assassin's throat out. Just another day on the job.

Lilith

Lilith was, for the second time today, rooted to the ground in shock. She had managed to break her fall when she was thrown to the ground, and now sat with her legs in front of her, bent to the level of her chest, and her arms stretched uot behind her so that her palms were on the floor and she was leaning on them. "That... I .... I knew he was there," she lied, flushing from the embarassment of being saved. Finally in the land of the living again and she felt like crawling back into the rock. The Shadow was right, though, Koji was reckless, but he was strong. In turn, Koji was right as well, as much as she hated to admit it, even to herself. He was an invaluble asset. Only an assassin could have seen the attack that was about to ensue moments before it occured and acted that quickly.

She quickly stood, turning her head to the side. She scowled, feeling even more pathetic. "You know I hate you for that... but..." the word caught in her throat, like a repulisve creature she wanted to keep hidden. Her brow knitted together with the sheer effort of uttering the single word, but eventually she managed to mutter it, "thanks..."

She then switched gears, her head snapping to face him so that her hair flicked outwards. She was acting like the incedent had never happened. "The Shadow asked me to talk to you... about killing all his men. He says that you're too valuble to get rid of, but also damaging in a way... So how about teleporting straight to the throne room from now on, and just... hiding your face or something, so you don't have to kill so many well trained guards."

KOJI KASSHIN

Koji looked at her, and although his eyes smiled, he did not. "Hiding my face isn't enough. My figure stands out enough, as you well know from our days together." He didn't need to elaborate on that any further. He looked at the blood on his hand and wiped it on the wall before turning to her again. "Tell him that he doesn't need guards at the doors. You know I can sense whatever happens there, and I refuse to teleport directly to the throne room," he smiled, "you're cunning, in those crucial seconds it would take me to recover from being disoriented, as is what happens every time teleportation is executed, and kill me." He looked at her with the I-know-what-I'm-doing look. "You know how skilled I am. By the way, in forty five seconds another assassin will leap through that window and attempt to kill us. If you agree with me and tell him to keep his guards away, I will kill him as soon as he comes through, otherwise I will let him wreak havoc." He looked at her, hand poised over his katana, ready to draw it and kill the intruder should she agree.

Lilith's mind reeled. Forty five seconds. It wasn't so much about the assassin as it was about the guards. The assassin was just a time limit for her to make a decision. Compromise or have more guards killed. He couldn't be easily manipulated, she knew that, yet she had to try anyway. Fourty seconds. She stared directly at him, ignoring the window. She could take the assassin for sure since she knew it was coming, but to be frank, dealing with subtle or hidden things weren't her strong points... Planning, fighting and magic were.

Thirty seconds. She had to ask The Shadow permission of course, she couldn't decide on her own whether to move the guards, but she could give a likely answer and try to convince the Shadow of whatever she decided. It seemed like it would be in everyone's best interest to keep the guards outside. Fifteen seconds. She wasn't even thinking of the coming assassin as a threat, but as a ticking clock. Dare she leave Koji, one who wanted to kill The Shadow, as the protector of the very man he had as a target?

On the other hand, a few guards couldn't stop him if he really wanted The Shadow dead, fifty guards couldn't stop him. In the end, it didn't make much difference. Ten seconds. She exhaled quietly then said, "then you'll protect him from his enemies... and I'll be the one to protect him from you," she agreed, with five seconds remaining. She still had tricks up her sleeve to try later, if she thought Koji was a danger to the Shaodw.

"Good decision," then he revealed the needle he had poised to stick into her neck had she disagreed. He put the needle back and drew his sword with blinding speed, cutting the assassin in half even as he appeared. He wiped the gore off his blade and re-sheathed it. It was rare, and a privelege for those watching, for him to draw the katana. He was a master with the weapon, comparable to first echelon sword masters. He looked at her and tapped the blade to remind her of his skill, "if I really wanted him dead, do you think you would have you could stop me, let alone the heart to kill me on the off chance you beat me?" He let the question linger in silence for a few moments before continuing, "and you better be right about this kid's skill. If he is beneath me in fighting skills you know I'll tear down the heavens to kill him, to keep him from disgracing the Shadow's legacy."

"I would destroy anything that threatened The Shadow. No matter what or who it was," she replied, her voice grimly serious. She wouldn't have killed him for any other reason or person. But for The Shadow, she would do so in a heart beat. "As for whether I could beat you... I'm not certain. There's only one way to find out for sure, but I rather value my life," she smirked.

"You shouldn't question him," her smile fell once more. "He was chosen by the very essence of darkness to sit upon that throne. If you tear down the heavens to kill him, I will raise Hell to protect him... But my words won't change your mind, just as yours wont change mine, so there's not much point in this is there?" The smirk returned. "You always were stubborn."

KOJI KASSHIN

Koji listened to what she said. She was perhaps the only person he would almost always listen to. "He smirked back, "was that stubborness what drew you to me?" He circled her slowly, drinking in her figure as if it had only been yesterday, remembering was destructive. He stopped smiling, "I know what I found attractive in you, though. It was that loyalty, and your figure, but the loyalty was what really struck me. Something I would never be, yet you worked perfectly with it, as if you had mastered it's finer aspects, like my mastery of assassination." He stopped in front of her again, "and none of that has diminished, not even after all this time. Yet I can't say I would ever be that loyal. It's intriguing, really, people, even you, always like what seems untouchable." He resumed his walk down the hall, "don't let that loyalty destroy you, it's all that's holding you together." He disappeared into another portal, making sure, if she tried, she could track him and follow him. Hell, part of him wanted her to follow him. He smiled as he took up a position outside of another minor noble's mansion. Let the killing begin anew.

Lilith didn't reply, watching him walk away. The portal remained open for a longer time than normal. He could have closed it in a second, but it lingered. She hesitated, as if torn. Her head turned from the portal to the throne room and she instantly made her decision. "I would have thought you'd learned by now," she said quietly, though Koji couldn't hear her. "If you make me chose, it will be him. Every time." She turned away from the portal and moved towards the throne room. She'd have to discuss with with The Shadow the deal she had made with Koji. It hadn't been much of a choice though, its not like the guards would have protected The Shadow from Koji in the end.

Her decision was made without regret, though not without some small longing. It was true though. The Shadow, to her, would always be the most important thing. More so than herself, and more so than Koji. It wasthe unalterable truth.

KOJI KASSHIN

Koji left the building. This time it had been done with cold effeciency, which was the trademark of most of his hits. He arrived at his home, it was more of a safe house, the best assassin in the world couldn't afford the luxury of a real home, too many assassination attempts. He looked at a few of Lilith's possessions that remained from a time long ago, more around 150 years ago. He threw them all into boxes and put them into storage where he wouldn't be reminded, then began mixing poisons, poisons that killed very slowly, pisons that were undetectable. He put it into a small tablet, one that could be dissolved in the Shadow's wine. If the Shadow detected it or survived it, he was one step closer to be being worthy for Koji's services. He put it into a special pouch and headed out. He arrived at the castle and snuck into Lilith's room. One more night couldn't hurt before he completely turned his back. Sex was a powerful urge, and not even Koji could deny it, not even for 200 hundred years, but he considered rape below all things. In fact, if he ever found someone guilty of rape, he would kill that person with no remorse whatsoever. Koji was sure he could probably succeed in seducing her again, but only time would tell, and he wasn't sure that, since Lilith, any other woman would be good enough anymore. He waited in a chair, admiring her room. It was decorated lavishly, of course, anyone with the Shadow's favor would have lavish decorations too.

{[[With the exception of Sly's spoken words to Galbrix, completely disregard my last post; it's seems everyone else did.]]}

SLY

It noticed the mortals' confusion. After the two ignorant ones left, it spoke to the First. "Your confusion of what I am is not unfounded. I am not conceivable to mortal flesh, though many have named me. The Shadow, as he liked to call himself, referred to me as 'Slyshanee,' and you may do the same." Familiarity was not something it liked, but having the First feel safe around it was its goal for the day. It understood, however, that the Assassin would be the biggest problem aside from the Warriors, and that something must be done to fix his insatiable urge to kill. It understood many things, but this man was a mystery to it. "Apologies, First, but I must attend to a disturbance," it spoke to the old man. It felt the presence of the stupid one, and it would not let the chance go unanswered. Before a reply could be made, it disintegrated.

It reintegrated four feet from the Assassin who sat in a chair in the Second's room. It knew the man would either retaliate or be unaware. If the first happened, he would regret it as he would phase through it and feel searing pain throughout whatever touched it. If the second, then it would simply appear closer, inches, even, from the man. Either way, it would speak to him. "Your stupidity will cost the Darkness more than you can imagine. I am here to warn you."

DAHN

The figure looked back at the people who implored he stay. Their arguments were valid, but he would not break his rules. He would only attack Drow if attacked first. He would not kill women, nor would he kill children, no matter what the circumstance. He was not ruthless.

Nor did he want money from noble blood. His eyes deepened in anger. The looked straight at the prince. The figure had saved that boy once, and had killed twenty men to protect him by order of the King. He would not be paid for a job like this, especially not from one who just so easily accepted his fate.

However, he did break one rule as he spoke. His voice had not been heard for two decades or more, and it was deep and raspy. "Thou must understand, that I cannot kill my own blood. I shall kill any man thou tellest me to kill, but I shall never kill my own blood unless attacked first. And I shan't do this for money, not from you. Thou must only show me thy quest is meaningful."

KOJI KASSHIN

Koji felt the thing, not even a comprehendible mind, he didn't understand it in the least, didn't understand it's being, it's complexion. Koji knew it would be a mistake to fight it, it was tough to fight something seemingly without form, and although many likened to Koji as a shadow in truth, there was a liquid grace with which he moved, but this thing didn't seem to even have that. He only realized his throwing knives were in his hands when he almost threw one. Dammit, although he knew he shouldn't fight it, instincts had nearly killed him... for once. For the first time in 150 years he felt something, memories of younger years in his eyes...

Koji looked at his master, a man revered by those on the street. "Again," he commanded. Koji lifted the small training sword, fitting his thirteen year old hands perfectly. He swung at his master, Hayato Sensei dodged his attack and dug a fist into Koji's gut. The boy dropped his weapon, and, even as his master drew nearer, the hot shame of failure grew, his cheeks flushing red. "Your failure must be cleansed, you must die, my apprentice." That was it, his master saw him only a failure, but Koji wasn't going to end this way. Screaming he stood up with a speed never shown, his master's eyes grew wider, Koji snatched the sword from the ground and neatly cleaved his master's body in two. He looked at his hands, what had he done? Fear of the law, they would hunt him down and kill him, his only option was to kill them first. He went through the city, with Kanesada, his katana, legendary as it was, in his hand. He killed all who opposed him, every being died in that city. That was when the Shadow showed up, he was there for Koji, so Koji became the best for him, became the best because he couldn't stand losing...

Koji shook his head and returned to the area before him. The creature had stopped, "what's your name, daemon?"

SHEBA

Sheba noddd slightly in approval, the Assassin had honor and dignity. She tilted her head towards the window, then walked over to it, gesturing for him to follow. She stood to one side of the window, her head turned so she could look outside at the town that bustled beneath them.

"You need proof of the value of our quest, here it is. It is present even in such a small scene." She gazed out at the people hurrying by, mothers with children, men laughing and jostleing each other, little girls and boys chasing each other and playing games. The image raidiated energy. "We are protecting the way of life itself. Do not be fooled that The Shadow would be satisfied after the humans fell, next would be the elves. Many races would be eliminated, others imprisoned. You are neither power starved nor ruthlessly bloodthirsty, I believe you can see the beauty we should stand to protect." She was silent for several long seconds, "if there is nothing worth saving in this," she waved her hands at the streets below, and shook her head, leaving the sentence unended, because she believed that there was no way anyone could eel that all of this life and all of this joy wasn't worth saving.

Lilith

Lilith approached the Shadow, kneeling before him once more, her head bent down. "I have spoken with the assassin. He is willing to accept a deal, that if you remove your guards, he will help protect you," she explained. "He is powerful enough that all the guards you could fit in the halls would do you no good against him, they are an innefficient protection. So please, I ask you to let him and myself be your protectors," she requested.

Koji would be able to protect him from assassins and she from any other form of attack... like one from Koji himself. "But I should also warn you that he ignorantly does not have faith in your ability as of yet. I know him well, and I believe that he will attempt to end your life as a test of your worth, though he has no right to judge it. Knowing him, he will likely try poison first, please allow me to bring you any food or drink you plan to take myself to avoid contamination, or at least allow me to test anything before you consume it. Poison, though, will only be his first attempt of many. Do you still wish to accept him as your assassin?" she questioned.

{{I plan on revealing Koji's "true" form later. It's basically Koji on steroids, if that's ok. If not, I'll just change the picture anyways.}}
