"uh-oh..." By turning into a wolf Ryan had effectively freed himself. Because wolves' fangs are generally much shorter than vampire ones, he could now detach himself from the wall with relative ease. Kitty fought, and nearly lost, to maintain her outer calm facade as she backed through the doorway.

Kitty waits until she is out of sight trough the doorway before she runs, not wanting to trigger a canine chase instinct. After that she runs straight back to the first place that Mizuki had hidden her and stays there listening.
