Physical Traits: Big bright light brown eyes, high arching angular eyebrows, high spiked coarse black hair, lean small body with noodley arms and legs, and skin that has been tanned from all the time he spends outdoors.
Scars: A deep scar on his left shoulder from where an upset orphan pokemon scratched him
Background: Gon was only two years old when his father brought him to a small remote island called Wailord island. Here he was left with his aunt (Father's cousin) Mito to be raised.
Gon grew up without being around any other children, but he was allowed to enjoy himself on the island, learning how to fish from the fishermen on the island, traversing the wilderness daily where he learning how to live in and with it, and being home school at home by his Aunt Mito and his great grandmother
For most of his life, Gon had been told that his mother and father had died in an accident, and wasn't until he was 9 years old, and a stranger passing through the island told Gon that his father was alive and serving as an Officer in the Pokemon League.
Since then he always dreamed of meeting his father, despite Mito finally telling him the real story that his father Ging, learning from Mito that his father had left the island at the age of twelve to become a Pokemon trainer, had only returned that once to drop Gon off, and has since never returned.
Despite Mito's wishes that Gon not try and follow in his father's footsteps Gon had blossomed and nourished a dream of leaving Wailord island to become a pokemon trainer so he can find his dad, and he certainly had every intention of doing so.
When he turned ten he asked go be able to go, but it would take two years of Mito putting up with Gon's pleading before she finally made an agreement with him.
If he could catch the Gyradose that lived in one of the lakes on the Island in one week, the deadline to when the last ship of the season to Kodo passes their port, then she would agree to let him go. Knowing full well how difficult catching that pokemon would be, since her real intent was for him to fail so he wouldn't go at all, and finally stop asking her. she knew Gon well enough that he wouldn't stop pressing the issue otherwise. He always respected an agreement.
Forgetting of course that once Gon puts his mind to something, he won't quit until he does it.
Gon was at the task for a week, non-stop until he caught the beast on the line of his super rod, the only thing that he had left from his father.
With the help of his Treecko, he was able to reel the pokemon up.
Mito had no choice at this point but to let him go, and he did so with great excitement, Heading to the nearest island that he could go to for a Trainers License; Kodo.
Skills:
Will Power: When Gon sets his mind to something, he does everything in his power and beyond to achieve his goal, adamant of getting his way and fiercely suborn. No one could call Gon a quitter or anything in between.
Outdoors: Growing up mostly in the wilderness of the small fishing port island, Gon spent most of his life out in the wild, where he learned and hones skills such as identifying different plants and animals, tracking, fishing and living, as well as gaining an understanding and love for animals and Pokemon.
Physical: The wilderness lifestyle has also made him a very fit twelve year old, with a great amount of stamina and agility, Gon loves to run, jump, climb and fight.
Charming: Gon is pleasant and friendly toward people, commonly lacking judgment of a person until given a personal reason to feel a certain way about them, though this in itself can be just as fickle and circumstantial as his twelve year old moral reasoning.
Faults:
Impulsive: Gon has a terrible tendency to run into a situation without thinking things through first, sometimes even completely half cocked and unprepared to deal with whats laying ahead.
Stubborn: He doesn't know when to quit, even if it could get him killed.
Selfish: Gon has a very clear understanding what he wants in life, and he will give everything he's got to accomplish that goal, this can make him very thoughtless and self centered at times. More so then he actually realizes, or intends, and can lead to remorseful feelings later on once he becomes aware of it.
Quirks:
Simple: Gon is very simple, complicated ideas and concepts often time fly over his head, or fry his brain if he's trying to pay attention.
Math: Who needs math when you can punch things.

A More Detailed Look
Personality/About: Gon wears his heart on his sleeve, he's honest, genuine and simple. He doesn't approach things with a lot of difficult thinking, he just kind of runs into situations and does his best to deal with it with what he knows.
This isn't to say that he doesn't learn from experience, when he takes an interest in something, he's known to work non-stop until he's learned what he's after. He's hard working, and has a will power that keeps him from giving up or backing down when usually it would be wiser to.
Easily impressed, and generally very good at making friends with people through his genuine interest and open kindness. He takes a person as they are presented to him, making him extremely easy to trick.
