WITCH ROZEN

If Rozen's face could have been pulled anymore out of alignment, she would have smirked. It was a fight between beasts now. This would make it easier in the end...

Rozen winced at the sudden chance in atmosphere. Towers of ice shot into the air around the witch and she looked up, momentarily in horror as the wind blew her hat off and away. She brought her eyes down again, closed them, and reopened them to show the once worried, brown irises had been replaced with solid black-brown pupils; cold and hard like marbles.

The earth seemed to rock back and forth beneath the permafrost and Rozen managed to jerk to the side just enough to be caught in he side, but not impaled. The ice snatched her on her ribs and pulled her up, but tore halfway up. Rozen, meanwhile, clawed the spire and slid shakily back down as her side knit itself back together.

It was getting dangerous. If she'd been hit dead center as was intended, the slippery structure would have made it impossible to pull herself off and she'd be stranded up in the air.

"KHHHHH--HSSHSHH..." Rozen realized a second too late that the circle of spikes was creating a fence around her. In a last-ditch effort to escape imprisonment, she pushed herself off the center into the wall of spikes, successfully lodging herself between two.

Under less dire circumstances, it would have appeared comical how Rozen's hips managed to be too wide to fit through the ever-growing towers, but the roach woman flailed like a caged animal.

"KSHHHH!! KKCK--KKCK--KKCK!" like she was choking, she struggled to pull herself out, but to no avail. For a brief moment, that familiar look of anxiety graced Rozen's hollow, black eyes and she reached back with her lower arms.

The upper set dug into the spires as she braced herself. Several more sickening pops sounded and the lower set of arms contorted themselves, pulling out of their sockets to rotate around her back. The shiny, brown leather of Rozen's gloves seemed to harden and pucker on all four arms.

Rozen winced.

SSSSSSHTHCK

It didn't sound as bad as it looked; like taking a bat to a punching bag. Rozen's wrists now had a serrated edge, and her abdomen was missing itself.

She didn't even bother catching herself, being too concerned with the pain. A dull thunk could be heard on the other side of the ice spires as the witch's legs fell dead on the ice and began to shrivel and freeze. The crackling sound of Rozen's healing was just starting up as she struggled on the ice, weakly shuffling herself across with her arms. She'd be back to normal once her entrails finished picking themselves up, but until then, she was virtually immobile.

Luna Luminesca
The Ice Witch - The White Wolf of the North

User ImageLuna knew she had to finish this off, and with Rozen temporarily immobile, it gave her a perfect chance. She still felt bad having to hurt Rozen in the first place, but Luna had to survive.

Luna ran at top speed towards Rozen, weaving in-between the frozen spikes with great agility, especially for being on such a slippery surface. She could see Rozen regenerating, and she knew that she had slow it down enough for her to get far away. She had no illusions of being able to actually kill Rozen, nor did she have any will to.

Once she was close enough, Luna attempted to pounce upon Rozen, trying to sink her teeth into Rozen. Just like how she could freeze things solid when she touched them in her human form, she could to it in wolf form, but only with her bite. She rarely had a need for it, freezing someone solid required her to bite down on them and stay that way for a while until she turned the water in their bodies against them. It was usually quicker to just bite a vulnerable area where the damage would debilitate her enemy, like the neck. Rozen, however, freezing her solid seemed the only way to win. And since she had moved the battle away from the cold snow fields where she lived and to a warmer plain, she would be sure that Rozen would thaw eventually, after she was able to get away.

WITCH ROZEN

"KEEEYYYAAAAGGHHHSSSSH!!" the monstrosity screeched as Luna sank her fangs into her side. Ice tore through her flesh in hyper-accelerated frostbite, crackling down her left stump of a leg, freezing it mid-regeneration.

The right leg finished rebuilding and Rozen swung it around in a faux-break dance maneuver, to spin in a wide arch across the ice, trying to sweep Luna's legs out from under her. The roach witch flailed awkwardly to control herself. The lack of a left leg was screwing up her already shaky balance. Her jerking movements were more akin to a fish than an insect as she struggled to break the ice off her stump.

Even the witch's wavelength was frantically snapping and flashing around the iced-over bite wound that was refusing to heal properly.

Meanwhile, Rozen's mandibles chomped wildly. If she could just grab her with those... It wasn't just the protrusions' fault she was drooling everywhere. Her saliva was toxic, containing a multitude of illnesses. Her initial plan had been to wound Luna and infect her, essentially doing her job, but at least giving the younger witch a fighting chance to get help once she'd left. However, this was hardly about the mission now. Rozen instincts as both a witch and a cockroach had kicked in and she was just trying to survive.

Luna Luminesca
The Ice Witch - The White Wolf of the North

User ImageOne of the benefits of being a four legged creature was that it was much harder for you to be tripped or lose your balance. Rozen sweeping a leg or two off the ground wouldn't cause Luna to fall as it would if she was in her human form, as long as her two hind legs were firmly planted and she had a tight enough grip with her teeth.

Luna knew it was now a waiting game; she just needed to endure until Rozen was too frozen to move. She shut her eyes and dug her teeth in deeper, letting her ice magic spread. If she could just keep herself clamped down on Rozen for a bit longer, this whole thing would be over. She just needed to endure.

She had hoped that Rozen wouldn't have been able to do anything to her except thrash around and hope to shake her off. Luna's jaws were powerful enough to prevent that from happening. However, she didn't expect Rozen to try to bite her back. She was completely unable to defend against the attack; she wouldn't have been able to see it even if her eyes were open. She just felt the pain as Rozen clamped down on her hind leg. Luna felt like screaming in pain, but she fought the urge, making sure to keep ahold of Rozen.

...Nngh...My leg... This might be bad...

Luna didn't have any idea what that saliva could do, but she was sure it couldn't be good. It didn't burn, so it probably wasn't acid, but it could still be poison. She didn't know how strong it was, so she could only hope it wasn't fatal. She didn't know anything about neutralizing poison herself, and it wasn't like there was some hospital she could just waltz into. She just hoped she didn't survive this fight just to die of poison later.

...Can't...think about that now. Just...got to...keep holding on...

WITCH ROZEN

Rozen had stopped screaming now. Her jaws had clamped down on Luna's hind leg and was reduced to muffled hissing. She jostled her head as she squirmed under Luna's own bite. It was clear Rozen was trying to hold back and not completely crush the limb, but the situation was becoming more dire as the ice spread across her torso.

It was a tearing, burning, numbing sensation--in that order, like she was being devoured. Her black eyes widened. She could feel the ice beginning to permeate her thick skin. She unintentionally bit down on Luna's leg and flailed her sharpened arms wildly. The ice was seriously impairing her flexibility as it worked its way over. Her leg wouldn't be growing back any time soon. At the very least, it had gone numb a while back. It was everything else that hurt.

The witch's saliva wasn't meant for combat purposes. It was just there; probably to make Rozen's life as a witch that much more awkward. It wouldn't take effect immediately, but over time, an affected target would feel feverish, nauseous, like the flu, but without the option of getting over it without medical intervention. Rozen just wasn't meant to associate with others outside her kind...

Luna Luminesca
The Ice Witch - The White Wolf of the North

User Image Luna was holding on for dear life, she tried to block out the pain, but it was beginning to be too much for her to bear. She could feel her flesh tearing and her bone beginning to shatter, not to mention the venom now coursing through her veins, making her feel even weaker. Now that she thought about it, it was foolish of her to face Rozen in a test of endurance, she'd probably faced more pain in a single day than Luna had in her whole life.

Luna yelped in pain, her grip loosening just enough for Rozen to shake free. And the roach witch still had a strong grip on her leg. Now Luna was just being dragged, unable to make any offensive moves of her own.

N-no! I can't lose! I can't!

No amount of will on Luna's part could change her current situation. At first, Luna tried to struggle free, only inviting herself more pain. After a few seconds, Rozen would be able to see that the wolf seemed to go a little limp, as if she had stopped trying. Luna seemingly accepted her defeat and gave up fighting.

...I guess...this is it. It was stupid of me to think I could ever challenge Anemone, I can't even hold my own against Rozen...

WITCH ROZEN

Rozen's mandibles twitched and shook a bit as she felt Luna's own grip loosen. Still missing one leg, she shuffled against the ice and tossed her head, letting go of Luna to slide her across the ice. The Roach Witch let her head go limp against the ice as she just stared at her opponent with blank eyes. She hadn't won; Luna had just lost.

With a sudden lurch, she pushed up with her arms, and began the process of dragging her own body across the ground. Quiet scraping in no particular rhythm was all that could be heard against the silent tundra. Rozen's jaw relaxed. She didn't want to say anything. For all she cared, Luna was just a dead animal left out in the snow--attacked by a larger, uglier, more savage beast. Trying to talk would only serve as concrete evidence, proving to Rozen that she was, in fact, a murderer. Worse than an animal. That she had human dignity and just chose to throw it away. For what, again?

Besides, if neither of them spoke, Rozen could just assume Luna was actually dead without having to actually confirm. She didn't want to brutalize the poor creature anymore than she already had.

Scrtch...Scrtch...Scrtch...

So that's how it was. A five-limbed witch, dragging herself off the battlefield. She hoped Anemone would be proud. She certainly wasn't.

Luna Luminesca
The Ice Witch - The White Wolf of the North

User Image Luna stayed down, her eyes shut tightly, waiting for the blow that would end her life. Only it didn't come, Rozen instead started walking away. Could she have thought her job was done and was being careless, or was she giving her a chance to escape? All she knew was she should take the chance to scurry off with her tail in between her legs like the beaten dog she was.

Once Rozen had faded from view, Luna got up, her hind leg causing her snow white fur to be soaked in red liquid. Even if she wasn't under attack anymore, she could still die from losing too much blood. Her best bet, probably her only choice at the moment, was to go into death city and hope someone would see her as a wounded animal and take care of her. She started making her way in the direction of Death City, trying to keep weight off of her hind leg.

She knew she could have changed back into her human form and rode her guitar to Death City quickly and painlessly, but she didn't feel like showing her face to the world at the moment. She was a failure, even when she was resolved to do something, she still couldn't pull through. She'd just have to go back to trying to stay alive, to forget freeing Rozen from Anemone's grasp and focus on her own survival. It made her feel selfish, but she had already proven she wasn't strong enough to save anyone else. She was barely strong enough to save herself...

Luna Luminesca
The Ice Witch - The White Wolf of the North

As Luna and Ai made it to the fields, Luna finally felt it was safe and shifted into her human form. She let out a sigh of relief; she had never felt trapped when she was in wolf form before and had spent months at a time like that, but not having the option to change back into this form made it feel a bit more stifling. As Luna looked down, she noticed that the green bandana was still around her neck. She cocked an eyebrow, but just as quickly shrugged her shoulders and accepted it.

"Ai, I'm glad I have this chance to speak to you. There were a few things I wanted to tell...and ask from you. But you said you had some questions for me? Okay, what do you need to know?"

Luna seemed a lot more cheery than she was before. Maybe it was because she looked up to a witch as strong as Aelita, or maybe it was because she had a home and people who cared about her. Either way, she looked pretty happy.

Aelita watched curiously as Luna transformed back into her original form. ''It's nice to see that you're doing better, Luna.'' She grinned and reached in her metal collar, pulling out the envelope once again. Aelita was glad she didn't have to call Luna Huanan-something she can't remember. ''First of all. If you're okay with it. I'd like to ask you what happened earlier.'' Indeed Aelita was referring to her battle with Rozen. Knowing Ai, she'll probably get the name from Luna and hunt her down later. Aelita didn't like people messing with her friends. She'd have no qualms with taking them out. ''To be honest...i was really worried about you.'' she admitted and rubbed the back of her head meekly. As she did this, the leviathan on the back of the note, made the figure of the number seven. One more number in the countdown. This made Aelita raise her brow at the envelope. Perhaps her suspicions were correct.

"Oh...that..."

Luna didn't really want to speak about the fight with Rozen or remember it, because doing so would just remind her of her failure, and the fact of how weak she was. But Aelita had saved her life, so she supposed she could. Luna's eyes trailed to the ground as she spoke.

"Well...Anemone sent someone to my lair to finish me off. The witch she sent though...it had to be the only one that was my friend. She...she's kind and gentle, and doesn't want to hurt people. But that Anemone has twisted her mind. Anyway, we fought not to far from here. She's still my friend, and I could have risked killing her if I fought her in my lair where I was most powerful. But she was stronger than I thought...or I was weaker than I thought, and she won. And she, well...she didn't kill me. And I just shudder to think of what Anemone will do to her when he finds out I'm still alive..."

Luna then raised her head, looking at Aelita with a determined gaze in her eyes. She needed to get stronger fast, and Aelita was her best chance at doing so.

"I have to save Rozen from him. Once Anemone is gone, she can be herself. She's like us, witches that don't want to cause destruction and chaos. She thinks that being with Anemone is the only way she'll be safe...I thought that myself for a while too. But with Anemone gone, she'll come around eventually. So I have to...have to beat Anemone, somehow! And Ai, I was wondering if...if you can help me. I need to learn to fight like my mom used to, my powers are stronger in hand-to-hand combat, but I'm, well...not much of a fighter. Do you think...you can help?"

Aelita crossed her arms and cocked her head to the side with a calmed look as she listened. From what she heard...Doucheman sent her lackey to go do her dirty work. They happened to be friends, but they fought anyway and it ended up in a draw. Knowing her sister...she was too stupid to figure out that Luna was still alive. Aelita found it rather comical to listen to Luna's rambling about Anemone. She had never heard anybody talk like that about her before. it was indeed something new. non the less she admired it. Luna had guts.'' Well, I'm sorry to hear that, but don't worry. She'll probably be fine as long as Amoomoo knows you're dead.'' Aelita replied with smile. Apparently Amoomoo was her sisters old nickname. It sounded a bit too cuddly...''So you want my help?'' she asked, slipping the envelope back inside her metal collar. ''Alright, I'll teach you everything i know.'' Aelita smiled and nodded her head. So far; from what she gathered from Luna is that she specializes in the 'ice element.' Luna also said she was good at hand to hand combat. That was also a good start! There was only one question she had on that topic though. Aelita blinked for a moment and slowly cracked her knuckles. ''How are you at evasion? If you can manage to dodge my siblings tentacles you'd be in the clear.''

"Err...well, I'm pretty good at evasion in my wolf form, but my control over my powers is a little weaker. I can only freeze things with a bite, but in this form I can freeze them with a touch. That's why I lost to Rozen, I tried to bite and freeze her, but she bit me harder and poisoned me. I don't really know how well I can evade in this form, I usually either use ice to block, fly out of range, or change into my wolf form..."

Luna remembered all of the times she had seen her mom fight, though most of the time it was just practice. Those shibusen students that killed her, they had gotten lucky, really, she had pretty much been dominating them for the whole fight without even fighting seriously. That was what Luna wanted to be like.

"My mom, she knew martial arts or something. She would fight with her hands and with each blow, come closer to freezing her opponent solid! I know my magic won't really get stronger until I get older, but If I were a better fighter, maybe I could actually...fight..."

Aelita listened to Luna quietly. Her eyes hadn't strayed once from the young witch. She hadn't even blinked. From what Luna was saying. She could tell it wouldn't be that hard to train her. Though the note Aelita was holding had suddenly sent a surge of electricity through Aelita, causing her to twitch a bit. She just ignored it and continued to listen. When Luna had finished Aelita nodded slightly with her seemingly soulless eyes. ''I understand. If that's the case. I can teach you everything i know.'' She gave Luna a faint, but genuine smile and lightly gripped her hand. Aelita her herself with her sharp teeth and drew a small pentagram on Luna's forarm. ''This is a shield that will protect you from getting....Electrocuted, torn, ripped apart, crushed. Anything I'll throw at you.'' It was only a safety precaution because with Aelita...accidents did happen. Shortly after. She turned and knelt down on the ground, smearing her blood on the ground as well, making a complex circle. It looked old enough to be recognized a long time ago during the Salem witch trials. ''Like i said before. If you want to beat Anemone, you'll have to be extremely evasive.'' she continued in a calm monotone and placed her other hand on the finished circle. It lit up a light blue and .....it looked like something was arising from it, but it was hard to tell through all the smoke the circle produced. Aelita stood up slowly and gave Luna a slight reassuring nod before turning back to the circle. A short figure emerged through the thick smoke. Oh dear...it looked JUST like Aelita. ''This is an old trick some witches used to use. It's a hex that replicates the body using your natural elements. Though this one is designed to attack you. Your job will be avoiding everything it throws at you. If it does by chance hit you, that blood charm will activate and prevent it from harming you.'' Aelita explained, spitting out a small portion of blood. That didn't look healthy...''Right now i have an extremely urgent task to attend to. I'll return and check your progress momentarily. I apologize for the inconvenience, but I'm afraid it can't wait.'' She said with an apologetic glance and smiled. The letter she was holding had even started glowing furiously. The numbers on it started going haywire like some sort of casino slot. Death....should really check this out and make sure it's not something that will KILL people. Aelita shot Luna a never seen before, bright smile before turning and hovering off. ''Be sure..to watch out for it's fists.'' She yelled back before fully disappearing. The clone just watched Luna with soulless eyes and straightened it's posture. It seemed to be waiting for Luna to cue that she was ready, how generous.
