Throngar shrugged, then growled at Alcharius, "Oi, hat, that's your cue. Make yourself useful for once."
Alcharius paused before answering, "Well," he began slowly in a rather sage tone, "I believe we were plotting a course for the land of 'give a ********', but we seem to have lost our way, and now seem to headed in the direction of 'can't be arsed' via the lovely slopes of 'who can screw the pretty elf girl first?'. I suggest proceeding cautiously."

"I got two gold pieces saying some tall blonde guy comes and does it first." Gorum stated, raising his hand slightly in the air.

Jinx slapped the hat and watched it land on the dirty ground almost in the fire pit. "Rude much!" she exclaimed.

"Oh, this is normal for him," Throngar responded casually with an offhand gesture. "Still..." Suddenly he was on his feet and stamping Alcharius further into the ground with his feet. "BE. USEFUL. STUPID. PIECE OF. HALFLING HIDE." All this rough treatment elicited loud protestations of abuse from the hat, which went entirely unheeded by Alcharius.

Jinx turned her back on them and sat down in the grass. She kinda felt bad for Alcharius, but she hoped that he will learn his lesson.

"AAAAHHHHH" came the familiar cry as the fiery-haired Gorum landed belly first upon the hat, before standing up and peeling the fabric off his gut. "Help us, or I stuff you in my armor next to my armpit for a week." He threatened.

"OI!" Throngar, who had dodged back before Gorum could squash is foot, now gave his twin brother a hefty kick to the flank. "Get off my hat, idiot, I've got to wear that thing and I don't want it smelling of you for the next week!"
Alcharius meanwhile just gave a serious of muffled squeals from beneath Gorum's bulk.

"Meh." grumbled Gorum, standing up. "And let that be a warnin' to ya." He dusted himself off. "Now then, it appears that halfling turd excuse for a hat refuses to help us." Gorum complained, strapping his axe to his back, before stretching slightly. "Suns coming up. Hey, bro. Somethin' I been meaning to ask."

Throngar squinted at his brother. "Oh yeah?" he grunted. "What's that?"
Alcharius just gave a feeble whimper on the ground. "Help me...~"

Throngar shrugged. "It's possible," he admitted in a gruff, serious tone. "They're pretty dumb beats by themselves, but creatures like these usually have some sort of higher intelligence guiding them, just like in all those tales about Gorak and his orcs. I remember one of those old farts in Krondar always used to say: 'evil for evil's sake always summoned is'." He got up off his log and picked up the still whimpering Alcharius. "Which, if you strip out all the pretentious language s**t, I figure roughly translates as, 'you don't get evil minions without an evil sorcerer'." He stroked his bearded chin thoughtfully. "But what sort of enchanter controls vile things like the Blecks?"

"Aw I dunno." Gorum replied, remembering his bottle of whisky tied to his belt and taking a long swig from it, then wiping his mouth and speaking again. "We ain' exactly the world's biggest experts on the rudders."
