The wave of magical energy caused Joe to shield his eye, not in discomfort so much as in annoyance, like a bright glare had just flashed in his face. He growled, "If whatever you summoned doesn't want to be here, it might try to kill the little one. Will you be all right while I go make sure she's OK?"
As he spoke, he tried to stabilize the ground with some of his mana. He hoped it would make it easier for the others to walk.

Krisa rolled her eyes when Joe pretty much suggested using her as a Guinea pig. 'If she survives, it's safe for the rest of us.' But before she could give more than a low growl of irritation, the tower began shaking. Instinct kicked in and Krisa dug her claws into the ground, waiting for things to settle down.
When everything was over, she could hear a voice in the room they had just left. When the small winged human suggested going back to check it out, Krisa's fur bristled. It went against the grain to let the smallest, possibly weakest, member of the group go into danger. But if she wanted to risk her life, who was Krisa to intervene?

Still gripping the wall, Merasha turned and glared at Joe. Well, it wasn't so much of glaring AT Joe as looking at Joe while her face was still wearing an upset expression from the way her flawless plan had been, well, flawed. She waved her hand dismissively. "Fine. Go ahead. Check on her. I just figured she could move the easiest because she could fly, and therefor run away the quickest if it was dangerous."
In all truth, Merasha knew she was the weakest person in current company, but she was not about to point this fact out. Really, she only sent the second weakest member. Merasha's eyes drifted to Talmaya. Then again, even that place might be tied. All this woman managed to do was get her hands burnt by Joe thus far, and then be disagreeable.
Talmaya seemed to remain neutral in the current dispute, not showing any outward expression that she agreed or disagreed that Merasha's decision to be sound. Then again, any expression was hard to read as she'd readjusted her hood to shadow over her most of her face. She stood perfectly still, leaning against the wall opposite of Merasha.

Standing up the small creature looks increduously at the being floating in midair. "Did you say summoned? That is impossible. I mean it literally, well not impossible, but really extremely difficult. How many casters had to work to do this? I mean where I am from it takes at least, oh 5 usually, but that exhausts them. Oh my, I'm rambling aren't I? Well can at least tell me what plane I am on? I need to know so that... I don't really know, but that is what I was told to do in case of emergency... Unless I am not on a different plane, but an entirely different dimension?" The small creature continues to babble for a moment, and then looks back at the thing. "But my aren't you small. Why kind of thing are you? Oh sorry, I have forgotten to introduce myself. My name is Darasuji Nomentanerim Dolcarin Feenshijasin Macor, I am from the capital city of Mal-Hadur, 1st caste, High Prince." The creatures tail moved quickly resting just in front of the "thing". "And what, if I may ask, is your name, my lovely one? "

"Was flight the only thing you were worried about?" Joe lifted a few inches off the ground with a shrug. "I'll be back."
He glided back to the room in time to hear the introduction. "A prince, huh? That makes things interesting." Joe's hand rested on his sword.

She landed on the ground as he began to talk on and on. The small fairy was trying her best to keep up with him, and once he was done, her brain had remembered so much stuff at once she felt it was going to explode! Addressing his first question, she said with a small chuckle. "Yup, you were summoned here. I'm guessing it's easier to summon here since it only took one person to summon you here. As for where this is, it's a place called Ahret, and I'm guessing it's in another dimension then where you're from. As for me, My name is Rena, nice to meet you mister umm..Macor!" There was no way she could pronounce his whole name, so she hoped that saying the last of his last names wouldn't offend him. "And as for what I am, I'm a wind fairy from Roak. I don't know much magic at the moment, but I'm still doing my best to be useful to master! Oh, and speaking of that, we have to meet with Master now since they're waiting for us. We need to help Master find her half brother if we want to be sent home again!" She hoped she explained it well enough. When she turned around and saw Joe, she gasped and said. "Hey what are you doing here? Shouldn't you be down with Master? And why is your hand on your sword? He's not going to hurt anyone!"

"Came to make sure everything was OK," Joe said. "And we don't know this guy, so anything is possible. Just being cautious, you understand." He kept his eyes on Macor the whole time.

"Preposterous!! Dimensional magical differences cannot vary that much, can they? I am personally more willing to believe that an extremely powerful caster called me here. But why? And please call me Daras. I forget how much trouble surface dwellers have with words, I shouldn't expect so much, with one so young. Magic? Ah you probably know who ruined the floor. Was it this tall, rather gaunt individual?" Turning to the tall man and bringing himself to full height, an imposing 3' 6" he says, "I do not appreciate you stupid... whatever-you-are's ruining a perfectly good floor! Do you have no respect for dwelling places?" Turning back to the fairy, "Ahret, Roak, I do not know these places, you must fill me in on the details. My world will be very pleased to know I have discovered two new entries for the Catalog of Dim. Now as for this Master business, I can not agree. Unless the parameters of the spell specifically dictate, I am no ones slave. But I'll be helping this caster, as it is through her, I will be able to learn more of this place. Hearing the fairy comment on the large man, he states, "I personally would feel more concerned about him if I were you, Miss Rena. This oversized individual could no more hurt me than a pebble could. Carrying magical equipment isn't going to change that." Remembering the floor, Daras bends over running his hands along the stone. All the stone from the doorway to the smoothes into a flat surface which slowly raises into an intricate spiral pattern. "All better." He says with a small smile. Looking back he says, "Well then let us be on our way!"

When the creature began talking again, she listened to his words until he was done explaining and scolding. She felt kind of bad that he was angry, but it was something that was out of her power, so she put it off as one of those things she couldn't help. She gave a small gasp as he began to manipulate the floor, and her wings instinctively took her to the sky a bit as the floor smoothed and made itself into a pattern. Landing on the now safe ground, she turned to Daras and said with a smile. "That was amazing Mister Daras! I've never seen anything like that before." It was to be expected, since all of the homes she had seen before were made of wood, and no one knew about earth magic in her village and forest. Continuing from before, she said. "I'd be happy to tell you all about my forest home, but for now you should meet Master." Turning to Joe, she said in a voice which held a tone of warning. "Without fighting with anyone."

Krisa growled in surprise when the floor suddenly was fixed right before her eyes. What in the name of the goddess was going on here? Walking forward, she saw a strange little creature standing in the room with Rena. "A prince, huh? Good job, 'Master'." She examined the new arrival, and suddenly it struck her why she had the odd feeling of de ja vu. "Huh, you know, I've heard of a species on my home world that looks like you. Only I think they're supposed to be smaller. What are they called again? Dilar... Amro... Dildoarmos?" She tilted her head thinking for a moment, then shrugged it off as unimportant.

Joe listened as the "Prince" spoke, especially the part where he refused to call the summoner Master. "I like him!" Joe said brightly, dropping his hand from his sword. "You're all right by me, Daras." Joe touched back to the floor and rejoined the group.

Merasha and Talmaya had been waiting patiently for the rest of the group to rejoin them. It irritated Merasha a little that everyone felt the need to go investigate, leaving her defenseless. However, she was through trying to order them about. The only one who really listened to her was Rena... and this troubled her greatly. She shifted her feet a little as the floow righted itself and smoothed out. But still... there was the issue of the charred bodies littering the hallway, and the sight was certainly unwelcoming to a women who knew not carnage.
"...Everything fine?" she called out.
Merasha was, in the least, relieved that the portal had finally sent the last summon. However, a small part of her worried it might just keep popping more beings into this dimension, but she rationalized that if she was long gone, then those who managed and patrolled the prison would have to deal with them; not her.

Rena flew ahead of Joe and Daras so that she could tell the good news to her master. Smiling happily, she landed on the floor and said. "Daras is really nice. He won't cause any trouble. Though I think you will be able to explain things more better than I can once he gets down here." She had told him as much as she knew herself. Only Merasha could tell the whole story about why they were here. Walking back a little bit, she took her position in the rear of the group once again. No matter what, she would keep them safe from an ambush!

Assured by Rena's report, Merasha inched closer to the room the summon ing had taken place in hopes of seeing this 'Daras' that Rena had mentioned. Of course, she'd heard bits of conversation from down the hall, but nothing clear. Her hearing wasn't necessarily keen for her kind, either.
Seeing the small plated creature shereached up and rubbed her cheek. Gee, another small creature. Oh well. "I am Merasha, she who brought you to this world. I will explain everything more clearly once we are out of this prison... but for now understand that you won't be able to return to your world without my cooperation, and finding my elusive half brother. For starters, we need to get to the stairs down the hall... you can take up the rear with Rena."
Talmaya had seen Merasha move, and so she followed. Talmaya tilted her head, peering at the new arrival. Her eyebrows raised, and had her face not been obscured by hood and veil, one might have noted a tiny smile upon her stern face. However, she kept her thoughts to herself for the time being.

After several days of awkward silence, Joe sighed. "Well, I'm bored," he declared. He walked boldly down the stairs, prepared to strike down whatever was in the way.
