xd I didn't like them anyway. Life Cried has a semi-objectionable song. I found that song to have an interesting meaning nonetheless.

It's not bad. Not exciting or different, but certainly worth the free downloads. 3nodding

So I went to see Unter Null and Cyanotic last night.

First disappointment, the flyer lied about the price. The flyer said $5, so I was excited about getting in for really cheap. I get there and find out its actually $15, a little disappointing but the price seems more appropriate.
So I'm waiting for the first band to go on, which I thought was going to be Cyanotic, which was the band I wanted to see most, but instead a local guy gets up and he was terrible. He had no idea how to mix, his performace was very boring, and he had the bass WAY to high so I had no idea what was going on. The whole time I was wondering what he was doing up there, when it ended I walked closer and looked his gear and found out he was doing nothing, absolutely nothing, there was just a computer and a mixing board, not even a midi controller. He made it look like he was playing the mixer as an instrument but instead wasn't doing anything. It explained his bad sound quality thogh, he had a mixing board up there with him, which messed up the whole sound because he was behind the speakers so there wasn't any way for him to tell that anything was off.
Anyways, his set ended and I was hoping Cyanotic was going on next. Me and my friend went to his van quickly to go get a drink since its cheaper to do that than buy anything there. When we got back the band was just starting so I went in, I look on stage and its Unter Null, then I found out Cyanotic aren't even playing, for some reason that nobody knew. mad
So I watched Unter Null's set, because I did want to see them a lot too, just not quite as much as I wanted to see Cyanotics. But anyways, Erica's microphone kept causing feedback the whole show. I was confused because I couldn't see too much of the set because there were quite a few people in front of me(plus the place was really small, since it was a Thai restaurant, lol weird place for a post-Industrial show right?).
After it ended I looked up on stage and realized why the microphone was causing so much feedback, some idiot obviously doesn't know anything about stage design or sound/anything. They placed one of the powered monitor's facing out in the right direction, and then the other facing more inwards towards the band. That is ******** dumb, if you don't know why I'll explain it to you. If you place a powered speaker, or any speaker really, towards you when you have a microphone it'll cause feedback because you are basically in the direct point of everything and all the sound waves, etc. If they placed the speaker facing just four or five inches to the left of where it was that wouldn't have happened.

I still had fun though, and after it ended I spent the next half hour to 45 minutes talking to Unter Null outside, then walked around Salem(MA, which is where the concert was) but it still wasn't as fun/exciting as I was hoping. Pretty much a big let down, but it didn't completely suck.

I don't usually listen to a lot of this type of music, but after you named a bunch of EBM/Aggrotech bands in that fav bands thread, I started poking around and the one you mentioned that I suddenly find myself listening to a bunch is Nurzery Rhymes.

Nurzery Rhymes is definitely my favorite EBM/Aggrotech band, their album Thorns in particular.

Thorns is the album I've been finding the most songs from. It would appear that I can only grab singles, though, since I can't find an actual album for sale sad

The only other band in this vein that has really caught my attention is Suicide Commando. The nice thing with SC is at least there's a lot of material to be found, though I don't like them quite as well.

If you like SC, I heartily recommend you also look into Front Line Assembly. SC's best period, IMHO, was during the late/mid-'90s on the Contamination and Construct-Destruct albums.

FLA's been around since the mid '80s and most of their catalog is solid (haven't really cared much for anything after Epitaph, personally). For beginners, I'd go with the Implode or Epitaph albums. FLA's earlier material can be a bit inaccessible if you're not a fan of early post-industrial stuff like Skinny Puppy. They experimented with integrating rock/metal into their music on the Millennium album, so maybe that's a good place to start.

Selected mix:

"Provision"
"Surface Patterns"
"Infra Red Combat"
"Fatalist"
"Everything Must Perish"

Hope you like!

Thanks! I'm on my way out the door right now, but when I get home I'm going to take a listen. biggrin

Edit: I got back and played the songs you linked. I really like the MUSIC, but I'm not totally sold on the vocals. I think I like the more aggressive vocal style of those other two bands I mentioned. Still, I liked Infra Red Combat and Everything Must Perish well enough to go ahead and download them anyway smile

For more ideas, I started poking through the older posts on this thread and Xentrifuge caught my eye. The only song of theirs I've listened to so far is Penance, and it sounds pretty awesome. I also liked the bits I've heard by God Module and Grendel. Checking out Die Sektor right now, kinda liking them too.

I still haven't really looking into FLA for some reason.

Like Volvy, I prefer the harsh style vocals to clean ones on most occasions.

Also, I just found this band, and they are pretty awesome. Judging from this video, they put on one hell of a concert too.

That's too bad about the show. I knew how much you were looking forward to that. I felt kind of the same way when I went to my ebm/aggrotech show.

Well, I'll probably end up seeing Cyanotic eventually, unless they break up. But they just put out an album, so I'm guessing this tour was to promote it. Usually bands will do another tour or at least a mini tour half way through their getting songs for their following album, so it a year or less I'm sure they'll be around.

It really wasn't too bad of a show, just a bit disappointing.

@Volvy: Me too, which is why I'm pissed I can't find a download link to their EP, but I'm seeing them on Friday. So I'll probably just buy it off them.
