Aaron straightened his hair from the play, turning to look why he wasn't hearing hooves following them. What was that the girl was looking at? He would ask once they were on the road though. They were losing daylight! "Then south we shall go." He said, giving the sun a glance as he headed down the path to the main road. Once there, he turned down the most southerly direction of the path, trotting briskly.
Rummaging though her bag, Tzeitel pulled out an apple to chew on, smirking at the faces Khali made as she thought. The girl seemed to really like being the lead of things. With a direction in mind, she headed down the path as well, pausing once to glance back at the meager hut that she had only moments ago called home. Her family would have to wait, just a bit longer. She smiled as she left the hut behind, thinking of, praying for, how this journey just might give her enough to send for the family, and provide her enough to make one of her own.

For the longest time she walked without making a sound. Khalidah hadn't been this far away from home in her life and the sounds, smells and over all aura of the forest had her under it's spell. Even as chilly as it was, to her, it was as beautiful as spring.
She leapt over logs and dodged between trees, all the while smiling.
That is, until the sun left and her legs burned. "Can we stop now? I'm tirrreeeddddd." She whined.

Not wanting to break the pleasant silence, Aaron just watched the scenery change, save for the ladies he escorted. Buds grew on the trees around them, and flowers were poking up from the ground, making their way through grass that was now more green than brown. When Khali spoke up again, he turned, a little surprised. She didn't seem the type to actually let a whine into her voice. But when how late it was came to his attention, a yawn broke through his lips, the day's work and excitement catching up to him.
Tzeitel had hoped to get further, but it was just the first day. Khali probably wasn't used to day long walks either. "Sure." She said, trotting off the path and looking around in the bare light the rapidly hiding sun was giving them. "I suppose it will be too dark pretty soon for safe travel. Lets set up camp for the night."

It felt odd, being so far away from home and ready to bed down. She rubbed her arms and yawned. "I'll start up a fire." Khali maneuvered around some craggy brush to pick up twigs around the base of the nearest tree. Something wriggled across the ground, giving her a wonderfully evil idea.
"Tzeitel, look! I have a surprise for you." She trotted closer and held out her hand, palm side up, to display a little earthworm.

Aaron pulled out his thin sheet from his bag, kicking a bit of space clear for the three to sleep and digging a shallow hole for the fire.
Tzeitel laid out her own sheet and pulled out a bit of food for everyone. She laid out the small spread, standing up as Khali came over. "Huh? Oh!" She squeaked, poking a finger at the worm. "We can't use that on our trip, Khali. Better put him back before the night cold comes in too much." She sighed wistfully, shaking her head, unfazed by the creepy-crawler. "I could have used more like him at home for the garden."

Khali pouted, breighing irritably before sitting the little guy back down. She gathered the twigs back together and organized them in Aaron's pit, taking out her fling to start a fire. When it was good and full, the teen spread out her own sheet and wrapped up in the blanket Raiden gave her earlier that very day. "What kind of garden would you have? I mean, when you will have one."

Aaron settled in front of the fire, adding some dry paper to heat the fire a bit more, aiding the flames. Then he took his share of the meal and ate silently as he thought about what might be ahead.
Tzeitel cocked her head as she sat down, handing Khali a bit of bread and fruit. "Well, I like carrots and lettuce. Potatoes and the like. Nothing too exotic." She smiled. "Actually, I've always wanted fruit trees, like apple and oranges. Lemons. My family had a green apple tree outside our bedroom window. I remember sneaking apples at night from that tree." She bit into the bread, sighing softly. "Well, what about you? Would you like a garden some day?"

Khali took a bite of the fruit and listened. "That must have been nice. When I was a kid, I'd take Raiden's apples at dinner time when mom wasn't looking. But that was before dad came back." She smiled, resituating herself.
"Honestly? I wouldn't mind a few apple and orange trees, but I want to live the beach. Where it's warm all year round and the lightning turns the sand to glass." She sighed and licked juice off her fingers. "Of course, thats after my journey. What about you, Aaron?"

Tzeitel smirked lightly. "You and your brother are an interesting pair, I must say." She listened quietly, smiling at Khali's wish. That did sound nice. "Afterward, of course."
Aaron blinked, looking up from his thoughts. "What? Oh, well..." He put his fingers to his chin, catching up with the conversation. "I've actually always wanted to live by the water." His free hand unconsciously traced his tattoos. "After living on a farm my whole life, I think the water would be a good change. Not right on the water, but near it. Maybe if it was fresh water, but not otherwise." He shrugged. "The weather wouldn't matter to me. Give me enough time each year to grow a good crop, provide for me and... my family... and I'll be happy."

"Interesting, huh?" She murmured, thinking it over. Khalidah wrapped her arms around the joints of her forelegs. Thats one way to say it.
Those aren't...markings, are they? Listening to him, she couldnt' help, but watch the way his hand moved. If they were tattoos, why there? "Freshwater would be nice if it was big enough, otherwise I would prefer an ocean. Even with the harbor back home, it always felt like were running out." She yawned and shook her head. "A family? Like, true love and all that? I didn't think boys thought of that."

Tzeitel smiled. "The size wouldn't matter to me. Well, at least, it'd have to be big enough to sustain itself, of be small with a big source. Fresh water would be wonderful to live next to." She nodded.
Aaron flicked his ears, nodding slightly. "Well, something like that. I'm not sure if there's an actual 'true love' out there for me. Or anyone. I wouldn't complain if there was a girl out there for just me though. Then I'd be just for her." He chuckled softly, giving Khali a wink. "You'd be surprised at what some guys are capable of thinking about. And besides, I'm not a boy anymore." He smirked, giving one of his proud biceps a teasing flex. "You see any 'boys' walking around looking like this?" He laughed, shaking his head at himself.

"And fish," Khali added. "You can't forget about the fish."
She yawned and flipped the blanket up like a hood over her head. The teen smirked, wriggling around to get comfier on the ground. What was bale of hay when you needed it? "My deepest appologies, my Lord. You'll have to wake me when a man approaches." She teased.
Khalidah was now yawning every other word so she figured it would be alright to just close her eyes. Her head slumped down onto her chest, and soon enough, she was out like a light. It was a quality her mother valued; no matter how energetic she was, if you put the girl in a warm place she would fall asleep in seconds.

Tzeitel shrugged. Fish wasn't so great. Maybe once in a while. She noticed Khali starting to fall asleep, so she ended her part of the convers, chuckling at the interaction of the girl and Aaron. She curled up on her blanket, closing her eyes and falling asleep nearly as easily as Khali had.
Aaron snorted lightly. "'Lord.' I could get used to that." Actually, it felt quite odd to be referred even playfully in that manner. After the ladies had fallen to sleep, he remained awake a little longer, giving the perimeter a once over before settling onto his sheet. His mind traveled along the coming trials, and the hopeful triumphs, before he too fell to sleep.

In dreams anything could happen.
Most times they did.
Khalidah visioned herself flying over mountains with wings like a harpy and long, flowing hair that curled around her cheeks. She had a sackful of gold tied to each hip that chimed as she dodged big, puffy clouds. On an upward gust she broke through the morning cover to see the sun and it's blinding light woke her up.
"Nnngh." The teen groaned, rubbing her eyes. At some point during the night she had gotten all turned around and one leg was in the fire pit. "That would have been....traaagic." She yawned. After a look around, she remembered where she was and quietly stooped to grab a fresh top from her bag. Might as well. They'll be out for a while. Or at least, she thought.
With a look over her shoulder, Khali trotted off to find a stream.

Waking from dreams that were less eventful that Khali's, Tzeitel blinked her eyes open, stretching her arms over her head. First, when her senses returned, she looked at where Khali had been sleeping, hearing a gentle rustle in the brush. the girl's movement must have woken her. She took her time standing, cracking her back and smiling at the low morning sun. Then she smirked at the only one still asleep. "Rise and shine, sleeping beauty." She said, gently kicking the male's side.
Aaron woke with a gasp and a small flail. "Tzeitel, you brat." He groaned, ruffling his hair with a hand. When he noticed the sun up he groaned again. Had he really slept in that much? Normally, out of old habit, he woke with the sun's rays, not the sun itself. He was going to feel off the rest of the day now. "Where'd our fearless leader go?" He asked, answered by a vague point into the brush. He nodded and started packing their blankets back up.
