Shanya watched as the king once again left. He seemed so quiet and distant, and the slave couldn't really blame him. His childhood was most likely nothing compared to the king's. After all, his life only consisted of losing his parents when he was born, though he didn't remember when he had heard that, and then he spent seven miserable and annoying years on the streets until finally he was arrested for no absolute reason that could be understood and was punished to become a slave. To anyone, that may be the worst life a human can have, but to him it was nothing and very unimportant.

The king's life, however, was much worse than that, right? Sure, Shanya now knew that the king had suffered a great loss of losing his mother and had the annoyance of the whole town coming to complain to him about an annoying beggar who he had no choice but to enslave, but there had to be much more to the king's life than that. There had to be a reason that he was so... stoic, if that was the right word to use.

"Hey, Miyabi," Shanya began, "how did Kitsuma get his job, anyway? I'm sure I'm not the only one who doesn't think he's the right person to be an advisor. Advisors are supposed to be wise and just, right? That's what I heard from the townsfolk." He froze a little. 'Stop speaking like someone who lives here! Don't get used to it! You're a slave, you're not supposed to be talking like you're just adopted,' his mind screamed at him.

Miyabi laughed a bit, saluting the king as he walked out. When he heard Shanya speak, he stopped and thought a bit. He wasn't really sure, but he could have Shanya ask Leila? No, that was stupid. Leila was an assassin. Telling Shanya the story may lead so him suspecting her of a higher position than a slave.

"Hm... I believe there was some threatening involved, some money and power, and oh yeah... Something about trying to kill the present king. I don't know, you're going to have to ask somebody else." Miyabi sighed, scratching the back of his head. "I'm useless for this kind of stuff. Someone like Raziel would know. Definitely his majesty and Kitsuma. Try ask Shitsuma, Kitsuma's nephew. He's a good guy if you get to know him." He smiled, tossing a bag of sugar at Shanya.

"We gotta make more sugar cubes. It's kind of easy work, so I'll let you do that, okay? Instructions are in the back with the wash basin." He pointed toward the back of the stable as he grabbed a pitch fork.

"Oh, okay," Shanya said, walking over to the wash basin. There was a peice of paper near it with writing all over it. Perhaps those were the instructions for making more sugar cubes. As he got closer to the paper and read it, his thoughts were confirmed.

Before long, Shanya got started on making the cubes. Miyabi was right about this process. Making sugar cubes was pretty easy. Maybe being a stable slave wasn't as hard as he thought, but it's only his first day. He would most likely do harder jobs later on, so he might as well get used to it. The whole being a stable slave might not be so bad anyway, since he liked horses.

"You can't possibly allow this type of conduct to continue!" Kitsuma sighed in exaggeration at the young king. Reiba sighed with annoyance and turned away. "I mean, slaves talking to each other? They could be forming a conspiracy!" The advisor went on, droning on the endless possibilities.

"And what if they're not and just talking? Socializing, like this stupid banquet that we are hosting here?" Reiba asked. Anger slightly tinted his icy blue eyes. "Can you possibly ever think that all slaves are not trying to revolt against the royal court?" He sighed, running a hand through his chocolate hair.

"Why should I not? There was a rebellion while your father was ruling. Now, I must say, your father did put it down swiftly and quietly, but you're not like your father at all!" Kitsuma said with defiance. "Besides... Shitsuma has told me that your slave hasn't been doing too well in the kitchen. Is that why you moved him to the stables?"

"No, not at all. There was too much workers in the kitchen, so I moved him out, Simple as that." Reiba said, standing up from his chair and walked out of the room.

It wasn't long before Shanya finished making the sugar cubes. He was just about to walk back to the stables when he bumped into either someone or something warm and solid. Hoping that it was just something solid, he looked up at whatever or whoever he had collided into. There were eyes that stared back into his, and he wondered if his mind was playing tricks on him. The sun in the sky had caused light to blind him for a moment, so he couldn't really figure out what the shape was.

At that moment he was scared, since he didn't know what would happen to slaves if they bumped, even by accident, into someone who was of higher authority. When he was still a beggar, he had seen slaves get condescended and continuously told how worthless they were and he had even seen some get beaten just because of that. Seeing as this was the castle and there were many other higher authorities, some he was told not to trust, anything can happen to a slave at the castle, right?

"Ooh~ Howdy!" Leila laughed, looking down at the bewildered boy. Her long blonde hair was pulled into a tight bun on the top of her head, and she was wearing an attractive cotton gown. At parties and special events, slaves are given something nicer to wear. "Sorry, did I hurt ya or somethin'?" She asked, since Shanya looked dazed.

Reiba walked downstairs, ignoring all of the eyes that followed him down the hall and down the stairs. 'What is he doing?' 'I didn't know the king was allowed out right now.' Were just a few things among the whispers that he head. He wasn't sure why everybody was getting worked up about him walking around. This was his home, couldn't he walk around it?

"Oh, it's just you, Miss Leila. Um... You didn't hurt me at all. I was just surprised," Shanya said, relieved that he had only accidentally bumped into Leila. "What are you doing here anyway? Did you need something? I'll be happy to get it for you, if you want." For some reason, he couldn't help but think that Leila looked pretty in the gown she was wearing.

Blushing, Shanya looked away. It was improper to him to be looking at girls who had higher authority, even as slaves. He didn't know how he thought of that or why, but maybe his experiences on the streets led him to believe that he was nothing. Well, he couldn't blame the people, since nobody likes a poor person. It had always been this way in his life.

Leila looked down at Shanya with a surprised look, but then began laughing as she swung her arm around his neck. "C'mon boy, I gotta go get somethin' from the stables." She smiled, literally dragging Shanya along side her.

When the two made it to the stable, Miyabi immediately perked his head up from behind a pile of hay. "Oh, hey sis." He smiled as his sister, who waved back in return. "Need something?" He asked, wiping his hands on his pants.

"I came to give you your clothes." She said kindly, handing him a small bundle. He took it quickly, noticing the bundle as familiar and not the bundle of clothes that it resembled. He thanked her, then disappeared in the back. "Shanya, do ya think you can Hinata and bring her out for me? Reiba took Kumori out a little while ago, so I'm going to go find him since he hasn't come back." She said.

"Sure," Shanya said, walking over to Hinata's pen, opening the door, and entering it. He held a few sugar cubes in his hand to feed the horse, though he didn't really see why he would need to do that. Maybe he was afraid that Hinata wouldn't trust him.

Gently taking hold of Hinata's reins, he led her from the pen and outside the stables. Shanya was somewhat tense and wary, as if something may happen at that very second. It wasn't like he didn't trust that Hinata was friendly, as implied by Miyabi, but he couldn't help thinking that in a few seconds he'd be feeling pain.

Leila turned slightly to see Shanya coming out of the stables with Hinata. The horse looked happily content, seeing it's owner sitting on the fence must have made the horse just as happy as it made Leila. The blonde girl slipped off of the fence, and skipped over to the stablehand and the horse, slapping Shanya on the back really hard.

"Thanks buddy! I owe ya one!" She laughed, taking the saddle she had propped up on fence and putting it onto Hinata's back. She leaped onto the horse in one leap and kicked into the horse's sides. The horse dashed off into a full sprint towards the forest. 'I have to find Reiba... I have to find him.' She kept on thinking in her mind. 'I have to.'

Shanya yelped as Leila gave him a hard slap to the back, probably leaving a huge sore mark there. It's hard to actually believe she's not angry. In that case, he didn't want to know what would happen if she got mad, and he would feel sorry for whoever got on her bad side. Whoever did would probably be in pain for the next few days then.

Watching as Leila rode off to the forest, Shanya sat on the fence so he could wait for the ache to fade. His back was probably already sore from the beating he had before he was turned into a slave, or Leila was just plain old strong. He voted mostly on the latter, though maybe both were true.

Reiba sat on Kumori as the black horse galloped through the dense forest towards a small clearing about five hundred feet in front of him. 'Almost there.' He thought. An elderly couple sat on the porch, and they both stood up when he arrived. The young king, wearing a dark robe to cover his face, slowly slid off of the black stallion with a basket in his hands. As he made his way over to the cottage, the woman came up to embrace him.

"Reiba... it's been so long." She smiled, looking him up and down. "You've grown." She mused, leading him up the steps.

"Yes, obaa-san, ojii-san, it has been a while." The younger boy said, giving her the basket as they walked. "I'd hate to be brusque about this, but I really must be going. I left the castle in utter chaos." He muttered sheepishly.

"Go ahead, we understand. Just come back soon." The man said kindly, waving at the boy as he rode off in the same direction he came. While he was riding, he ran into a tall blonde who immediately pulled Hinata to a stop. Reiba nodded and the two of them rode back towards the stables.

Shanya remained on the fence, waiting for some order to assist the horses or their masters. There seemed to be nothing to do at the moment, which was strange to him because he thought slaves were always busy. Maybe he thought that because there were so many slaves.

Getting off the fence, he walked into the stables to see if the horses need anything. Well, it wasn't like he could understand the horses, but maybe some instinct or thought in him will let him know if the horses were in need of something. As ridiculous as it sounded at this moment, he couldn't help but decide to let sudden thoughts control what he would need to do.

Reiba handed of Kumori to Leila, who immediately jumped back on his hind legs and began to cry out. The blonde assassin played slave handed the black stallion back to the young king, who took back the reins with an annoyed tug. Kumori immediately followed after the chocolate haired boy as the two of them quietly made their way back to the stables.

Leila put back on her less serious, more happy face as she entered. " 'Evnin' Shanya! Found Sir Hide-a-lot out in the woods, so we're returnin' Hinata." She smiled as Reiba quietly made his way to the back near Shiro. The white horse huffed quietly as Reiba walked passed and led the white horses other half into its stable, locking the door as he closed it. He gave both of them a soft pat on the head before he turned and left without a word.

Shanya nearly jumped a mile when he heard Leila's voice. It had been so sudden in the calmness of the stables. He hadn't expected Leila to be coming back so soon, but she is pretty unpredictable. She would be in one place and the next thing you know she's someplace else, or so Shanya figured from today's experience. No wonder Leila was a slave of higher authority.

The passing figure of the king brought Shanya out from his thoughts and he watched him leave the stables. There was a meloncholy aura around him, though he didn't know why it was there. Thinking about the king, Shanya found himself remembering someone in a dream. There had been someone that his younger self called Brother Rei, but he didn't know where the dream took place and who the person was. Rei was just short for a different name, perhaps short for Reiba.

The childhood dream was probably just a dream. There was no way he, even as a child that Reiba and his father took in, would call the king Brother Rei. Maybe Brother Rei was just someone else Shanya had met who had 'Rei' in his name.
