Brett blinked. Open the door…? He was hardly a locksmith, but he had studied a few locks out of curiosity as a child. Maybe he could jimmy this one with one of his tools.
Carefully proceeding to the front of the group, Brett flicked through his clock working tools. He needed to probe the door carefully, in case there was an alarm. Or worse, a trap. Finally he settled on a screwdriver (size 1/20) and gently wriggled it into the keyhole. He could faintly feel the head clicking on the gears of the door, but it was difficult to sense the exact location of the notches through his metal hands. If only he could see the inside of that keyhole!
“Wait…” Brett removed his hands from the door and removed Troi from his neck. The naga was thin, just the right size to slip his head into the keyhole. “I need you to look into this door and find the gears that hold the bolt in place.” Troi dipped his head to show he understood, then slithered around to face the doorway. Brett carefully lowered him to the keyhole, and the naga slipped partially in.
Too late, Brett remembered his father telling him about an anti-magic spell that people occasionally laid on locks. The spell would disable any charms cast to unlock their treasures, and destroy the magic in enchanted objects. If the door had anti-magic in it then Troi would be paralyzed and trapped in the door. Brett was about to yank him out when the snake-like creature hissed, followed by a scraping clank. Troi backed out of the keyhole, his head covered in oily grime, and wrapped himself around Brett’s arm. The door shuddered opened. Troi had successfully tripped the latch without triggering any alarms. Brett sighed with relief. They could look for the Relic now, but more importantly, he had proved he wasn’t a burden on his teammates. Pleased, Brett rubbed Troi’s head clean while turning to the man who had instructed him to open the door, DKay.
“G-go-t-t it." Brett tried hard to control the tremble in his voice. "I guess this... um... mean we can go on ahead.”

Of course she’d stick the two of them in the same group.
Awesome.
Astrid felt a surge of undeserved resentment towards the violet-eyed girl at the front of the room. Of course, the girl had no way of knowing how bad of a mistake she was making.
-----------------------
“We should probably let the others know…That is, if this really is a way in.”
Astrid spoke up, the first words she had spoke since they had departed the club, simply responding to the self-appointed leader’s question about defense with a slow nod.
She had a lot on her mind.
Blood sacrifice, huh?
Well, she was the only Gemini in her group.
The question was…just how much blood was necessary?
It probably wouldn’t be a big deal. Probably only a drop or two. Considering the size and apparent frailty of the only other Gemini, though, Astrid decided it should probably be herself that offered it.
She was also considering exactly how she was going to apologize to DKay.
He had only been trying to help her, after all, and she doubted a simple “Sorry for being such a b***h and ruining your shirt” would cut it.
Although, she had to admit, she wasn’t completely sorry. He looked pretty damn good in that wifebeater.
She suppressed a giggle and turned, beginning to back away from the door.
“I’ll signal them,” without waiting for approval, the gunslinger marched to a more open, nearby space. Icy blue eyes scanned the black, star-strewn sky. After making sure it was clear, Astrid withdrew one of her revolvers from her pocket, cocked it, and fired a shot straight at the moon overhead.
At first, there was no noise except the echo of the gun. Shortly though, the sound of clanking metal reached Astrid’s ears. Armor. Surely worn by guards. Who were pretty close by. s**t.
THAT had not been the best of ideas.
She spun on her heel, hurrying back to the door where she left the group.
“Uhhh guys? We have a problem. They know we’re here.” She called as the clanking grew louder. “There’s at least five, all armed, probably with-“
Before she could complete her assessment, they arrived. Five enormous guards decked in heavy mirrored armor, Mirr’s signature, hulked near the entrance, all carrying various sharp weapons.
Astrid stood in front of her group and drew both her guns, aimed them at the biggest one and prepared herself for action as they advanced.
“What do you punks think you’re doing? This is private city property, and you’re trespassing,” the obvious leader barked as he brandished his sword at Ely. Astrid moved her guns to aim at the captain.
“Back off,” she growled, her eyes flashing red. “We don’t want to hurt anyone.”
“You’re all under arrest! But I can tell you aren’t going to come quietly.” Without waiting for a response from them, the captain began to bring his sword down on the tiny elf. Without thinking, Astrid shot at his leather-gloved hand. She didn’t miss.
The rest of the guards sprang into battle, launching themselves at the division of quest group.

Script stared a wide-eyed stare at the small ripples in the Crystal Lake as he sat on the dock with one foot in the water and the other pushed against the wooden plank in front of him. The breeze off the freshwater smelled like dew and made him long for the hard, salty ocean. His face was trance-like and vacant, and he was bored. His arm hung straight out on his knee, and the holey brown corduroy glove on his hand began to make his hand itch and sweat under the hot Leo sun. The ripples grew wider. There was a giggle behind him and up, but he knew she was standing behind him before she interrupted him with her own practice. She covered his eyes with both hands. “Guess who!”Script frowned. “You messed me up.” “Oh!” she gasped, releasing his face and kneeling beside him. “I’m sorry. You still trying to bend water?” Script gave her an indignant pout. “I was doing it, not trying. Before you showed off your own skill. I know what you want. We will all bow to your power. All hail the great Shiva. We bend to your will.” He ended with biting sarcasm and a mock bow, but the Libra was not as fazed as she would have been if she were a fellow Pisces. “I thought you were just tripping out on something. My mistake,” she sighed as she stood to walk away, although he knew she wasn’t as cool as she put on. Her comeback made him a little angry, though, and he couldn’t recover his concentration long enough to get a firm grip on the lake water. He had been clean for two weeks already. She deserved to be hit with a water ball, but the tight white tank top she was wearing would only add to her smutty appeal. He turned to watch her tiny red shorts wiggle back up the dock, and he rolled his eyes as she stopped to flirt with some unsuspecting Pisces guy, who was grinning as he comprehended what she wanted… Script rolled his eyes and turned back to the water. The sight was much more appealing and much less sickening. “Please give her something deadly tonight and do your part to cleanse the planet,” he quietly prayed to the nameless customer.

Garett was not too proud to admit he was bored. He did so four times a day before lunch, five times after lunch, and twice upon punching out every night. His superior would usually respond with a growl and a hefty knock on the head.
“Ye ain’t paid t’be bored. Yer paid t’guard this here hall wi’ yer life. An’ that life ain’t worth two Ice if waz in this here dungeon git’s gone, so ye guard it. Now shut yer trap and continue wi’ yer patrollin’!”
Garett snorted and stamped his hoof. “Someone as talented as me, reduced to a sentry in a damp, boring tunnel…” he growled. Not that he told his current girl, Alicia, that. She had somehow gotten the notion he was an imperial assassin from a foreign country. Not that he hadn’t insinuated as much. He even faked an accent to keep the dream alive.
The click of his hooves bounced off the stone walls, sounding like gunshots in the silence. Garett wasn’t much of a thinking type, but when all he had to look forward to was pacing up and down a long, dusty hallway, his mind would occasionally wander off to other, more important things. Usually girls.
Today was no different in that regard, but the girl in question wasn’t one he was attracted to. She was human, for one, which held no interest for him, and probably nuts. He had run into her (literally) in the market that afternoon on his way to work, and she had shoved a flier under his nose with the most ridiculous notions on it.
“Relics.” Garett chortled a little. “I could use me some of them. I’d wish myself a billion Ice, and a… er… whatever is more than a billion… girls! No more work and all the ladies I desire.” He laughed again. “Well, I may not have the Ice but at least I’ve got the ladies. No Relics necessary.” He swung his mace casually, similar to the way a police officer might swing their baton, and tapped the stone wall. The underground of Mirr was a virtual labyrinth, and it wasn’t uncommon to find a few old bones lying around in the darker corners or hidden behind false walls. Garett could care less about the history these bones represented; but occasionally they had a bit of Ice hidden among the tattered remains of their clothes, or a gold tooth still stuck in their skull.
Garret reached a corner and paused. Voices. They weren’t the voices of his fellow patrols or his cantankerous superior. The voices were muttering, secretive. Intruders.
Immediately Garett’s heart began to beat quickly, his flanks tensing in anticipation of the spring that would bring him in view of his foes. Alicia would love this; her man about to take out six armed assailants. Garett pounced.
Immediately he was disappointed. For one, the group was armed but hardly a menacing bunch. He'd have to exaggerate that a bit tonight. Besides, the five of them… wait, five? He had heard six sets of footfalls.
Then he realized the last of the bunch was neither human, nor male. She was a centaur. A rather attractive one as well; and she looked about as pleased to see him as you might to see a big fly sitting on your flank.
“Well, well… who do we have here?” Garett spun his mace and eyed them all. An odd mix; Aquarius and Gemini humans, a Pisces wizard, a Saggitarius elf, and a Virgo centaur; not what you’d expect while patrolling the underground of a city. The chestnut snorted. “This place is off limits to those without permission. Of course, if you want some permission, I’d be glad to turn a blind eye in exchange for a little something from your pretty filly there…”
He didn’t get to say any more, because she’d slapped him so hard his ears rang.

There was a stink in the air.
Not a scent that could be detected through any mortal’s senses, however. Rather, it permeated the air as stealthily as carbon monoxide, suffocating victims into unconsciousness without so much of an inch of effort. This deadly perfume, so evasive to any living being’s olfactory system, was really not so much of a stench as a living thing.
“Let’s light the lanterns on the tiered stand.”
Outside of the only entrance into the room where the Mirror of Gemini was so safely stowed away, four guards lay immobile on the merciless ground. Walls, flooring, and ceiling composed of thick metal in the attempt to reduce the risk of thievery, these nameless faces showed only a meager amount of struggle before meeting an untimely death. Their armor, shining and ready for battle, remained undamaged, their swords never even drawn…
So how then, why then, had their breathing stopped?
Insignificant enough to go undetected, save to an expertly trained eye, was the impression of an endless ring, probably caused by some form of rope…no. Not quite. For a rope would have been too harsh and barbaric, this gentle cut that has struck their jugular and halted breath was from a material as fine as a single thread.
“Let’s put peach blossoms on the tiered stand."
Inside of the room, lighted by several torches lining the metallic walls, was a spacious and circular clearing. In the middle of it, elevated on a marble dais, was a simple mirror. Carpeted by a crimson, velvet cloth, the mirror itself seemed nothing extraordinary and easily could have camouflaged itself amongst any merchant’s wares. Yet here, shining in the dim lighting of magical torches that would never fade, it seemed there was no choice but to believe the thing for what it truly was.
The Mirror of Gemini.
“Five court musicians are playing flutes and drums.”
Standing in direct alignment with the open door, his back to it, was a tall, dark figure. Hair of ebony was swept to one side, the jagged edges framing a calculating but otherwise pleasant face, whose cherry lips were well versed in both banal and intellectual conversation. A slightly button nose rested on a complexion of hinted caramel, skin darkened from inheritance and all the while emitting the seductive aura of a natural born Libra.
Adorned in an ivory trench coat, the hemming of it grazing his ebony adorned calves, the dark-haired man stood with one arm crossed while he rested his head against the other free hand. Lightly calloused fingers, agile digits that could utilize most all medicinal instruments with ease, drummed gently against a pronounced cheekbone, lips set into an almost childish pout save for when he whispered his sing-song rhyme.
Most captivating however, of all his Libra qualities, were eyes of the sunset, a pure mixture of orange and dying sunset red. Currently, they remained on the fabled treasure right before him.
“Today is a happy Doll’s Festival.”
There were invisible enchantments all over the mirror; that much was obvious. Once a person was to pick up the item, flames would burst from the torches, incinerating any and all in the room. He even suspected that the whole building might collapse once the mirror was removed from its place…
However, the most annoying enchantment of all was the one created by the mirror itself.
Only a Gemini could even hope to lay hold upon it.
He had been hoping that part of the legend would prove to just be an old wives’ tale. However, all the tricks up his sleeves could not produce the results he desired. He needed a Gemini’s blood.
“Well my exalted doll, you truly do prove yourself an Empress.” Without even moving or removing his stare from the mythical legend, the Libra’s lips parted once again, his voice a soothing and breathy drug, “Nanashi. Find a Gemini, I will be needing that blood sample after all.”
From the shadows closest to the doorway, a silent figure, with features impossible to discern in the darkness, merely nodded before disappearing through the open door and through the maze of halls that was the underground passageway of the city’s capitol building.

Well, here they were. Assuming everyone had followed her to the other side of the building, Vesper turned to face her companions. She swallowed a lump of anxiety as it rose up in her throat. This was no time to be intimidated. She needed to take charge; they were already so close.
“Alright guys, first I think we should all buff up.” She reached into her bag and pulled out a handful of tiny colorful vials. “Red is a strength booster. Blue is defense”
While allowing them all to pick whatever they wanted, Vesper continued on.
“I also have an Invisibility Elixir, should the need arise, a few healing potions, and lots of poison- though I’d rather use stealth over strength to get in this building.” Her violet eyes scanned the area. Mostly, it looked like all the other sides of the building. The walls were made of the same smooth white marble and steel. She couldn’t immediately detect any anomalies in the structure. No doors. No cracks that could possibly lead to a passage… The surrounding area only contained a few street lights, and some decorative planted trees.
“Keep your eyes peeled for anything…out of the ordinary. I’m certain it should be around here somewhere. A switch of some sort…Or a trap door… A tunnel…” Her voice trailed off, and she bit her lip as she thought.
Allowing the others to search the grounds, Vesper began exploring on her own. One of the trees somehow seemed different from the others… She squinted at it. The leaves looked shinier, somehow.
The young Scorpio walked over to the suspicious tree, and began pulling various branches. Feeling silly, she poked all along the bark. It felt odd and artificial.
Then…
There.
Her slender hands found a small knothole nestled under one of the thicker branches. Without really thinking, she poked a finger into it and pushed. Click.
“AHHHHHH!!!”
The ground beneath her suddenly crumbled, and she felt herself falling. Immediately, Vesper threw her arms up, desperately grasping at the air in hopes of grabbing onto something.
Unfortunately, the hole was swallowing her too fast, and she felt herself falling quickly through the blackness. Until…
“OOF!” Vesper heard the sound of several bottles cracking as she landed on her bag. “Ugh…”
She layed, blinking, at the bottom of the hole as her eyes adjusted to the darkness. Fumbling in her robe, Vesper procured a small green vial. Pulling the cork out with her teeth, she swallowed the mint flavored liquid and felt its healing powers creeping to her spine. After a few moments, she figured it was safe to sit up. She looked up at the hole she had just fallen into. It was a good twenty feet above her.
Around her was more blackness. She waved her arms around and didn’t hit a wall until she reached a ten foot radius. Squinting, Vesper could also make out a dim hallway stretching out from where she had landed.
Perhaps she should let the others know. Cupping her hands around her mouth, she called up to the surface.
“I THINK I FOUND A WAY IN! Be really careful though! It’s a long way down! Also, try to find some kind of light or torch! I can’t see anything!”
OOC: Sorry about the time skip and the kinda hogging of discovering everything, but no one else has posted in a while and I really would like to get the first relic soon biggrin Forgive me?

 After the highly boring introductions were done, the large party headed to the capital. As they made their way through the emptying streets the evening street lamps were being turned on one by one. The city radiated brilliant orange from the setting sun the newly lighted lamppost glinting off the white marble buildings. The city at evening was truly a beautiful sight, something Ben had never seen before coming from the sleepy hollow that is Pralene. The problem was with all the dazzling lights Ben kept bumping into random objects along the way.
~~~~~
The capital building was the largest building Ben had ever seen, the size was massive. He was quite stupidly optimistic and thought it would be easy to find the Gemini relic in a short amount of time. Not like this venture into the capitol could take months right?
As the groups separated, Ben was quite excited to be in the group with the adorable lavender girl Vesper. He had a hard time not tackle hugging her from behind.
When they reached the other side of the capital, Vesper turned around and offered the four others in the party a red or blue potion. Ben took one of both because red and blue make purple! He didn’t really care what they did, as he mixed them into one bottle and watched the colors fuse and then shoved the new potion in his bag.
The party split up and started scouting the surrounding area, Ben got down on all fours and took on the full form of a black cat and started sniffing around the wall for any weaknesses. Suddenly he heard a faint clicking noise with his increased hearing ability coming from the direction Vesper was searching in. Ben turned around just in time to see a fluttering of lavender robes as she disappeared down a hole.
“AHHHHHH!!!”
In a single fluid movement Benjamin, turn around and leapt into the air his forearms turned black and leathery and his ears grew even more pointed as he took the form of a small bat and flew down the hole after Vesper.
Even though the hole was pitch black, Ben was able too make a perfect picture using the sound of his voice bouncing off the ragged walls. At the bottom he could make out Vesper’s small frame, he was glad she seemed to be alright. She was yelling something up but Ben couldn’t understand her voice with his high sensitivity ears.
Ben realized that she might die of a heart attack if he landed on her as a bat, so as he flew down he lowered his limbs and shifted back into a cat and landed gracefully on her inviting shoulder.
Ӄitta SiȠai ♌ Upon leaving the bar entirely, Kitta had not forgotten to bring her tiger. Whether or not anyone had done anything when she climbed on its back and rode it didn’t matter. The small female was now off and scouting the area like Vesper had said. Raja was near by as well. A red potion was fixed in her belt, ready to be used at any time.
A yell emitted from Vesper’s direction. Eyes widened like a feline’s as the brunette spun on her heel just in time to see the poor girl fall. “Vesper!” She nearly screamed. Kitta rushed to the edge. She was ready to pull the other out until she notified the group that this was a possible way in. “Good job!” She exclaimed.
Kitta tried to focus on the hole before scouting out her other comrades. She would wait until she was the last to go down. And darn it…she didn’t have a matches. What a fail.I want a new beginning; you ask for destruction.
Sedrick ҞinȺi ♌ Things were speeding up now, and the instant Vesper began to take charge the twins began to listen carefully. However, as soon as she began to babble…Kin had to decline his mind and wander off himself in search of something that looked “out of the ordinary”. However, he did grab a blue potion on his way. Defense was good in case. Surprising he grabbed the blue instead of the red, though despite his egotistical nature, he’d rather have a better defense.
While his sister seemed more worried about the girl, Kin merely glanced up at the yell. Casually, and as if he had no care in the world, walked over and stood next to his twin. “Yeah, good job, Squirt,” he scoffed. Be careful she says. The male’s visible eye glinted with deviation as a smirk spread. For a quick moment he was transformed into a lion, and jumped down into the hole. There was a thump, and quietly Kin morphed back into his human self with the exception of his eyes. Heck, he needed to be able to see and he didn’t have a match.
In the dark he stalked up to Vesper until he was too close for his own comfort and breathed, “Need a light?”
Yeah, he was p***k. And his intention was to creep her out. He would be satisfied if he had succeeded.I want the end of the world; you want the new.
OOC:
QUICK ANNOUNCEMENT!
Hey guys, just posted this in the OOC, but I know not everyone reads it, so I figured I'd transfer it.
I thought I'd let everyone know my plans: I think Team Vesper/Eirian/Twins/Ben is going to actually get to the mirror first, but they'll be useless because they don't have a Gemini with them. They can stand around and talk to Aethen/socialize/discuss things I suppose.
Team Astrid/DKay/Ely/Ali/Brett is fighting off guards. Once they're through with that I think they'll make it in.
I talked to Ixy and Rez, and they said that with Fae's help/convincing, Garret is going to help them through the easy way. I'd like that group (Biq, Fae, Kaiya, Riu, and Sakura) to make it in around the same time as Team Astrid XD (using my own characters for simplicity's sake, sorry). Then Astrid and Kaiya both have the same advantage of getting the mirror. They can talk about it, or whatever. We'll just see how that plays out.
Although I think Biq may get lost in his next post >>;; cause he's an idiot. He'll wind up in there eventually though. XD
Just so we're all on the same page! If anyone has any problems with this, or alternate ideas, just post it here. I'm a lot more active lately, and will get back to you as soon as I can. You can also just message me on AIM, for those of you who have it. I think I trust everyone on here enough though. It's the same as my Gaia username. IMing is just much faster than posting, IMO.
EDIT: Also, be sure to check out the Zodiac Playlist thread, especially if you have songs to share! It's finally open!
heart
To discuss, please post replies in the OOC. (Not here! In fact I'll probably delete this after everyone gets the chance to read it. NO NON-RP BUSINESS IN THE THREEEAAADD cool )
