Interview with Fel!
~~~~~~~~~
~~~~~~~~~
Hi, Fel!
Hello there!
So, you're another of those interdimensional interlopers I mentioned last time! Could you tell us about your homeworld?
It is a world that is populated with winged cat people. Magic is quite common there, but for most people it comes in small amounts. I however come from a long line of sorceresses with great power that are trained to eventually rule.
Does it have a name? And... do YOU have a name? Everyone just keeps calling you "Feline"...
Well, It does have a name, but I find it so difficult to translate my language to this Common that is spoken here. I guess the closest word would be, Purrwen. As for my name... *looks slightly embarrassed* I do have a name, *she purrrs with a slight growl at the end* A literal translation is of it is Shining Air Dancer.
As to why people call me Feline...It was so confusing when I first landed here, because I didn't know the language. People just started calling me Feline, and I guess it kind of stuck. Maybe I should figure out something else, but I don't know what that would be.
So you're not an actual incarnation of your people's goddess...?
Not literally, but if I had taken the office I was supposed to I would have risen up to be the current Goddess of the land. We are a matriarchal society and those of a certain blood line are raised to lead. The strongest female sorceress is chosen at a young age and is strictly groomed to take the throne. When you ascend to the throne you are given a set of crystals that are embedded in the royal jewels. These are what give the ruler their Goddess powers. I was to ascend in a year so I do not know what it is like to wear these, but they say once donned the wearer truly does become a Goddess.
Now that is TRULY fascinating! Are all the other countries ruled over in this way?
Countries? Oh you mean other areas of land! There are ancient stories of there being other areas of land that surrounded us. Some held mystical creatures such as winged horses and *Feline giggles* well you'll never believe it but tiny people like you guys but all covered in fur with a proper tail. *Feline laughs again* Such silliness! That was always my favorite one as a young child.
But the stories tell of a time of great strife and destruction that left the land as it is today. As far as we can tell there is only one large piece of land and the rest is just water. The only people there are just like me. That is why I find this place so curious.
Oh, that's terrible!
What do you think, then, of the concept of a "false god"? This came up in an earlier interview, in relation to the demoness Llolth. I'm sure some human fanatics would look down on you and your people for worshipping a mortal-born as such...
*looks confused for a moment* How can a god be false? Isn't it inherent in godhood to not be false...?
When the Goddess steps up, she becomes more. She becomes one with the people and their needs become her needs. It is acutally a very selfless thing to do, because your needs become second to the wellbeing of the people. I actually feel sad for those who live without a living god or goddess. Such indifference and sometimes hate that these distance gods show seem like a cruel joke to me.
It may sound like a silly question, but are there any small cats on Purrwen? What do you think of their domestication here on Gaia?
I've heard stories of the smaller cats, but they are not common on Purrwen. We do keep various birds as pets though! I had a lovely falcon that I used to fly with and have hunt for me. I find these small cat creatures you have here curious. While they seem to be a cat, there is not much to their minds. I tried speaking with one when I arrived and found its thought patterns to be terribly crude.
You seem to get on well with the other felidae of the Order. What are your thoughts on them?
I just recently met them both. It really came as a surprise to me that there were others here! Meta cooks amazing food, but she confounds me with all this talk about cold and snow. I do not know why any person would care for such an environment! As for Gwarn.... Well, there is something about him. *she blushes slightly* At first it was just the overwhelming scent of him that reminded me of home, but there is more to him than meets the eye. He is also not of this place and lost his homeland, I guess that is why I feel it easy to connect to him.
I see, I see. Your thoughts on the instructors? It's my understanding that you feel particularly strongly for the Priestess, but what about the spellcasting master? Your, uh, flirtatious overtones haven't gone unnoticed...
Well, I am attracted to powerful spellcasters, but as for flirtatious undertones....well, what woman does not use them when they seek something from a man. I was disstressed to learn that all my years of magical training came to naught when I ended up here. Panda is a man of great power and who better to learn from. In my homeland seduction is an art that is taught for many reasons, romance only being one of them. One must use all of the tools in their arsenal to get what they desire. Panda is too grumpy for his own good though. I think that someone needs to give him a sense of humor!
As for the Priestess...she is the angel to whom I owe my life. I'd protect her from anything.
Welp, you guessed it - we're on to questions from users! "Have you ever been the subject of an interview/movie/etc. (this interview doesn't count)"
To clarify, I think we can deem "etc" to mean any kind of work of media, be it a book or a poem or anything of the sort.
No. Even though I was in a high position in my homeland, the public was not ever let near me. While I was the next to accesend, there were many more candidates behind me in case I failed at any point in my training. I'm lucky that I ended up here instead of dead.
Bapp Pogum has an armful of questions for you! "How's life in the Order?"
It's interesting. There is way more freedom here than I ever had at home. I do feel lost at times though.
"Would you rather have stayed in your hometown or here?"
*pauses* I was destined for greatness there. I would have helped my whole nation thrive. Here I have freedom. Is freedom worth the price of not achiving your destiny? I'm still trying to figure that out. For the moment, I'm enjoying my time here.
Just how desperate are you to get back? You said you were to ascend in a year, and it's been around six months. What will happen if you don't return? What will happen to the goddess?
There were more candidates in training, but they were very young. My land will not be left without a Goddess if I never return. The current one will just have to remain for longer as the new heir is trained. Because of the death rate of trainiees this could take more than a century.
I'm very torn at this moment. The freedoms I expirience here are almost addicting. I long for my homeland, but I've come to love things about this land that keep pulling me here.
Fulfill your destiny or experience freedom - truly a tough decision. Who knows, maybe you'll find a new purpose here on Gaia?
I would truly like that. *she blushes* I don't know if I ever actually will find a way back.
If you could choose a purpose for yourself here, what do you think it would be? Alternatively, have you ever thought that maybe you were destined to come here to fulfill a different purpose to the one you envisioned?
I've....well....I've actually never thought about it. I have many skills that were of use in the war and now that I'm mastering the magics here I think I could be a great scout. But in peace times I wonder what sort of role I could command. All I know is serving others.
*pauses in thought* That is a very interesting point. I do belive things happen for a reason. Maybe....just maybe that is true.
Back to Bapp's questions - "Is there anyone you like in the Order?"
The Priestess Lorika saved my life! I owe my life to her. I would not say we are friends, but I do like her. I was friends for a moment with the Overseer, but his abandonment of his duites can not be forgiven.
"Is there anyone you dislike/hate in the Order?"
Um....not really.
"Out of all the instructors, which one's your favourite?"
Well, the only instructor I've had so far is Panda, so I guess I'd have to say him. Even though I think he is a little uptight and needs to loosen up a bit!
"Bewbehs?"
*squishes her own* You mean these? I love my boobies! I don't mind taking a peek at others' also. Boobies were meant to be admired!
"What are the color of your panties?"
Panties? I don't believe I gotten any of these since I've been here.
Maborofel has a few more for you, now that he's had a good ol' think. "What's it like to live with wings?"
I couldn't imagine life without them. The rush of taking to the skies is like none other.
"Is there anything you must do to care for them?"
Once a year I do go through a period of moulting which is rather discomforting. I also have to be careful of breaking a bloodfeather. Luckily I've enough magic to keep myself from bleeding to death for the most part. If I were weak and drained though...well mud packs can help, but having the reach to put them on myself is not something I'm equipped with.
Do they make bathing difficult...? Erm, unless... you clean yourself like a small cat does?
Nope. I actually love bathing! I just need to be careful about fluffing the feathers out afterwards so they can fully dry.
"How much would could a woodchuck chuck?"
Does the woodchuck enjoy his current employment as a chucker of wood?
Ohohohoho, Nii Amikasame asks the obligatory question (which shall return to her tenfold, I might add) "What are your feelings for Gwarn?"
Um, well.... I..... you see..... he's kind of, sort of nice and......*blushes* smells good.
*falls into a deeper blush*
What does he smell like...?!
His smell reminds me of my homeland. It's feral in a way that only a feline man can put out.
OKAY, woah, that's sweet in a disgusting animal musk kind of way. Nii... also asks "BANANAS OR PAJAMAS?"
...Is that some sort of euphemism, I wonder?
??? I guess bananas? They taste better than pajamas. *nods knowingly*
So you don't eat solely meat and fish?
I love vegetables and fruit! Meat and fish are good, but I enjoy all kinds of different food. Eating is a passion of mine...now if I could only figure out how to cook without lighting things on fire.
Uh, okay, Bapp is back and... the nonsense continues! "Do you believe in ghosts?"
I believe that spirits don't die when the body dies. I now know that first hand!
"Do you believe in zombies?"
I've never seen one, but talked to plenty of people in the war who did so I'll say yes.
"Do you believe in monsters?"
Do monsters believe they are monsters? I believe in diversity.
"Do you believe in aliens?"
Again, I'll have to say yes, only because people told me stories here during the war...I've not seen one.
"Do you believe in gods?"
Yes....The Overseer was a god, I was to be a goddess....it would be strange if I didn't.
"Do you believe in ninjas?"
Only if ninjas believe in me!
"Do you believe in belief?"
Nope I don't believe in belief, because to believe in belief belief would have to already exist.
"Do you believe in bullshit?"
Bulls do s**t so yes!
"Did you know I just wasted alot of your time asking you questions I didn't really want or need to get an answer of?"
I figured that out... now how are you to know if I didn't just waste your time by giving you silly meaningless answers?
I think more important than any of those is do you believe in yourself?
I do. I'm bred to do great things, but I also know I have a soul that wants to do great things.
Hahaha, good answer. StormDawn asks "If you were to lose your wings... What would you become inside?"
Lose my wings? I have a hard time even comprehending life without wings. I'd still be me, but I would have lost something integral to who I am. I almost want to cry just thinking about it...
Oh look, even though Bapp has basically filled the role of Anon today, the sir himself has turned up. Anon asks "do farts mak u fly faster"
*scrunches up nose in distaste* All I'm going to acknowledge that question with is....No.
Nii Amikasame has more questions for you! "Have you ever considered taking up Spirituality or Combat?"
I've thought about it, but I really want to regain my spellcasting powers before I think about crosstraining.
"What's the least and most rewarding part of being a mage?"
It's great because with my size it allows me to fight and protect myself in a way that is stronger than if I tried to fight with a sword. There is a danger of being vunerable when you are weak. I also have to watch out for power vampires that look for victims to drain.
"How do you like your clams?"
Alive and attached to the head of a naked glowing man!
"What's your opinion on black magic?"
I try to stay away from it. Even when used for good it will leave a dark stain on your energy aura. The more you use it the darker your aura gets and then the negative energies can start to affect you.
"Which spell do you find yourself using most?"
I've found the wind spells to be quite useful when the air is still. It makes taking to the skies a lot easier.
"Do you own a fancy wizard hat? How about a wand?"
*laughs* Nope, none of those. That is a hilarious thought though! I do wish I had access to more augmenting gemstones and crystals though.
"Are mages born or made? In other words, do you think anyone can practice magic?"
In my homeland everyone is born with the spark...some with more than others. I do not know how it is here, but in my experience you have to be born with the ability to control the power.
"How did you take the transition from being the most celebrated sorceress in your land to being a simpleton on Gaia?"
I wouldn't quite call it a simpleton. *huffs slightly* It was hard at first, but I have studied diligently since I've arrived and found my new powers growing satisfactorily.
Oh, speaking of which, what do you think of Cressa, the drow sorceress? (Pretending that they've met.)
I find her boldness envigorating. She is a woman who is impeccable in her control over her magical powers. I'm on the fence as to more of my feelings about her till I get to know her more, but her mischieviousness strikes a familiar chord in me. *smilles sheepishly*
"Given the opportunity to go back to your homeland, the only consequence being that you are never to set foot in Gaia ever again, would you take it?"
*hesitates* When I first got here the answer would have been unequivocally 'Yes'. Too much has happened here now. I don't know if I could ever fully give it up.
"What does it feel like to die? And be given life again?"
It's like being born again. You feel as if you get a new start at life, with the past being wiped out. Maybe that is why I feel more connected to Gaia now.
"Have you met Rufus, the cat from Barton Boutique? What's your opinion on him?"
I've not been into Barton, but I would love to meet this Rufus! I've been pleasantly surprised with all the feline people I've met in Gaia so far.
"Do you have a fondness for fish?"
My city was in the cliffs near a large ocean so I grew up eating all manner of fish. I love fish prepared in all sorts of ways.
"Do canines make you nervous?"
Should they? I think they are cute, if sort of brainless.
Uh oh, Bapp's back again. I think you know what this means... "Are you enviromentally friendly?"
I'm friendly, but I've not tried talking to any trees since I've been here so I don't know how friendly the environment would be to me.
"Suicide?"
*laughs* What?!?! I'd say, 'Don't do it, Bapp, I'm sure you have much to live for.' *nods*
"What do you think about marriage?"
I don't know. It's not something I've ever had to really think about before in my life. I do like the idea of commiting yourself to someone you love very much, but it would have to be after both parties know that they can and want to.
Have you ever had a long-term relationship? Is it at all possible as a goddess?
I had friends as a child before my training started in full, but after that I was not allowed attachments. *winces in memory* They were fairly stict about that one foremost.
"Do you plan on getting married?"
I find myself at a loss with this question. All I can say is that if I had good reason I would consider it!
"Any particular candidate in mind?"
*blushes* Umm well....I don't know if I....*blushes again* Ummm....Hi! *laughs nervously* I'm not sure how he feels for me so.....next question!
"Can you speak bird?"
Umm.....not unless I use translator magic, which I've not yet found an equivalent of here.
*shakes head* Bird?!
"What do you think will happen to the future of mankind?"
It will aways stay ahead of mankind's present.
"Who's your favourite demigod/god/celebrity of Gaia?"
The Overseer. I've not met any others so I'd have to say him.
Metaburo Fanmaker has a few questions to help finish us off! "What's your favorite food?"
Sushi will always stay a favorite, but I've found this remarkable new thing here called spaghetti! Those noodles are awesome!
"When's your birthday?"
I honestly can't say when it is here. My date of arrival in Gaia is right when the war started, so if people felt the need for celebrating, I guess they could then.
"Would you like people the brainstorm you an adapted version of your name?"
I don't mind tasteful nicknames.
And I think that's everything. Oh - but if you could send a message to your home and your family right now for them to hear, what would it be?
That I'm well and I wish peace and prosperity for my people.
Truly a fascinating soiree we've had, wouldn't you agree? Thank you so much for your time!
You're welcome! I've had a fun, if sometimes confusing, time! *waves bye*
See you next time for yet another one-to-one with me, your Interviewer, and one lucky - or unlucky, depending on how you look at it - Order member!
