"Avenger" is more of a mental status than a fighting technique anyway. sweatdrop And we certainly don't want licence for the inevitable Sasuke clones around here, do we? sweatdrop sweatdrop
Itachi was only thirteen or fourteen when he killed his clan, so it's not unlikely he'd have issues thinking things through, especially with such a heinous ordeal. Plus it's kind of obvious Kishimoto wasn't thinking either. xd
Itachi seemed to just want Sasuke to have a motive to keep living after the death of their clan and hoped that by the time Sasuke would be powerful enough to kill Itachi (thus helping him atone for the initial genocide) that Sasuke would have found something else to live for afterwards, like friends or something. Only Sasuke was so single-minded... that didn't exactly pan out.
At least I can kind of follow Itachi and Sasuke's thought patterns, which is why I'm still reading the manga. xd It's just the right level of logic and WTF-ness to stay interesting. xd xd

Yeah- I get that. I one thing I really kinda liked was they just kinda stopped giving Sauske his own little emo panic attacks, maned him up and gave him some balls... they made him over powered... but they manned the crap out of him. He has a goal now- it's not as emo (it's misguided and whatever...) and he wants to accomplish it.
Like I thought his motivation for running off- joining Sound and being a general puss was kinda weak. Like Leaf was the strongest nation in the world... people trust you... ect.
I mean it was KINDA a tragic turn that he was seduced by power, but it was kinda weaksause at the same time...
...and...
Yeah, that's why I didn't use it. I was gonna make it along a "Slayer" character concept- but it didn't seem to help enough. They would have gained a crazy advantage against ONE person or ONE small group of people. Like Focus but on a person/group and in combat instead of while learning. That and like you said- I HATE emo Sauske clones. Hakubo is really the only character I've seen successfully pull off that card even a little bit. And Zaiten did that 100% IN CHARACTER, it wasn't some emo dead-clan background thing. It wasn't like he was trying to play that card- that's why he was successful. -Van

Well, Sasuke was seduced by power because he was weaksauce weaksauce. He saw that even Naruto was passing him up on multiple occasions and then Itachi and Kisame came into the picture for Naruto and kicked the crap out of him. All the pre-timeskip events left him essentially mind-raped before Itachi mangekyou'd his a**.
Sasuke's gone through some solid character development. Even if he's developed into a misguided, morally-corrupt jackass, it's at least reasonable.
I liked Sasuke up until he donned the stupid, black jumpsuit. It all just went downhill from there.
For most characters, I believe developing moments should stick to working on a personal level. Like, the death of the Uchiha was really pushing it. It was made WAY too obvious that THIS. WILL. SCAR. SASUKE. While realistic development would be a series of small moments that build up on themselves. Anime tends to use the former way too much.
Gaara's douchebag uncle, Kakashi losing Obito, everyone Tsunade ever met died, Sasori lost his parents, etc. It's a pretty interesting coincidence that everyone has ONE, SINGULAR MOMENT that influences or changes the entire basis on which they live their lives.
Oh, and most of the time, Naruto is the one to give them a counter moment to set them back on the straight-and-narrow. (Or they die.) There Are No Therapists

Yeah- well that's drama for you. It wasn't written for an older audience, those normally involve more subtle plots. (Wanna watch a GOOD one that does that REALLY WELL. Watch the new Battlestar... dear god.)
However Naruto is not entirely without it's subtleties (and by that I mean "light" sledgehammer hits). For example:
We see Gaara develop as a character after he looses to Naruto and kinda accepts his "siblings". We see that extend even more when he become the Kazekage and he opens up to his entire village and has to learn to show compassion to people he isn't even familiar with on a personal level.
Kakashi has that whole thing with his father who was so great and powerful but had a bad rep. and his whole coming into his own as a mentor. He starts off as a kinda uninterested teacher and you see him grow attached to the team and even mentor Sauske because he sees some of himself in him.
Tsunade became Hokage and she's had to deal with responsibility dispute a carefree life.
My favorite character to watch develop was Jiraiya hands down! We get to see him go from lazy a*****e to responsible, (almost enlightened) teacher. I think my favorite part of the entire series was his backstory.
Even Naruto, as much as I hated that filler, has his progression. I mean all that filler was to me from a developmental point of view was showing him earning people's respect. He felt the need to do that because of the way he was treated growing up. Sure it was written by a 6 year old with the same anime mad-libs page just erasing the blank spots and filling it in- but the collective effect was him going though all the motions that earned him the respect of others regardless of their affiliation to him prior to it. -Van

I find Danzo's arm-sharingan to be slightly imposible. I would think that it would take too much chakra one, two that the Sharingan should only be in the eye's normal position (in the skull), third (and quite possibly the most important) how the heck did he get them in the first place?

They're probably the left-over sharingan from Itachi's Uchiha massacre.
Sharingan have a questionable amount of chakra necessary to work them. *glares at Sasuke for his bullshit fight against Deidara* But all of Danzo's Sharingan only seem able to work once--hence the way they close after being used/separated from his body

They've said this: If you are an Uchiha- it's a slight drain. Itachi keeps them active almost constantly. If you don't have Uchiha bloood- when it is open, it's a HUGE drain. (Kakashi)
Denzo is kage level, we don't know how much chakra he has but it's probably a sizable amount. It looks like he kept his arm all sealed and locked up so they wouldn't be active though. So it wasn't much of a drain to just "have" them I'd guess.

The other problem I have is why have them if you can't / don't use them. Having them sealed / wrapped constantly is quite a hinderance, even with the known / unknown drain of chakra. Also, wouldn't the Sharingan in the arm be rejected?

No it was good. You pulled off a character other people can't and made him interesting.
And possibly? He might exercise it in private -Van

So... Yeah... Danzo is what we call a "God-Modder" "Hay guys, I'm the Hokage, with 10 Sharingans, and the First Hokage's Wood Element" If I ever received a profile like that I'd slap whoever submitted it.
Does any of the crew recall that first character I submitted post-time skip? He totally scalped my jutsu name... Izangi.
And does the Uchiha clan need ANOTHER hidden/forbidden jutsu! There are like 20 Techniques that use the Sharingan now! (+ A bunch of unlisted abilities...)

Yeah well Sharingan is the elite haxor power in Naruto. It apparently can do "anything". (ie-an unending fire, impenetrable force field, a gate to other dimensions, able to become there but not there(Madara) and the list could go on) It's getting to the point where every character either has to have a Biju, Earth element, or a Sharingan to pose any powerful threat anymore. Oh, and Sasuke's Susanoo changed! Yet again!(big surprise) And to tie it up, Kishimoto has to keep people interested with yet another Sharingan technique no ones thought to mention before-Izanagi. It's almost as if Kishimoto could sense that people were getting bored of this fight and felt he needed to add something else to make it interesting again. On a side note, believe it or not, Karin actually did something this time! *Crowd hisses*

Yay, Karin did something! :'D *gets pelted by tomatoes*
...It would be one thing if the Sharingan techniques even made any sense.
They can see through illusions, comprehend and learn any technique create unstoppable, black flames of death trap people in illusions of torture for days whatever the hell Susanoo is
and now Izangi?
What do any of these have to do with anything!? Not even eyes!
This cannot end well...

I like the plot- hate the Sharingan. This is getting to be ******** retarded... Apparently all the great eye-techniques where descended from the sages right? Why is the Uchiha the one that retains the most? Like at this point- the Sharingan is probably more powerful than the Rinnegan abilities that we have seen I'd wager. -Van
