XWraith_LordX I just bought Almost Human. I'll let you know what I think of it when I get around to listening to it. xd Overall, still my favorite album of his. Boo-Hoo is warming up to me years later, though. I'll probably be seeing Voltaire in Chicago next week, complete with his whole band, and two other acts- Comasoft and Curiosity. There'll also be a magician (a "Dark Illusionist" he calls himself) named Ron Fitzgerald, plus retailers, a masquerade contest, giveaways, and so on.

I adore him! I think he's talented, and I find him witty, charming, and attractive. Plus, he's an animator heart I LOVE animators, probably because I want to be one.

Anyone hear "To the Bottom of the Sea" yet?
I still plan on buying it eventually, but I haven't gotten around to it yet.

GilAskan Anyone hear "To the Bottom of the Sea" yet? I still plan on buying it eventually, but I haven't gotten around to it yet. I have it, It's not as good as the old Voltaire, but it's better than Ooky-Spooky. You can search the songs on YouTube, or anywhere else and listen to them, before buying it.

Gothic Muffin of Doom GilAskan Anyone hear "To the Bottom of the Sea" yet? I still plan on buying it eventually, but I haven't gotten around to it yet. I have it, It's not as good as the old Voltaire, but it's better than Ooky-Spooky. You can search the songs on YouTube, or anywhere else and listen to them, before buying it. Voltaire was my favorite artist for a couple years (some years back, mind you), so I feel like I'm cheating myself by listening to the album before buying it. I know I'll buy it eventually, I'm just not sure how long it'll take me. I've thusfar heard three from the album- Coin Operated Goi, Happy Birthday My Dear Friend, and The Industrial Revolution. Goi is a great song live, but the recorded version lacks the energy of the live performance. Seems like a song that should've stayed off the album and stuck to the stage. Happy Birthday is awful, contrived garbage and very possibly Voltaire's worst song, in my mind. Industrial Revolution is catchy and well written, and one of Voltaire's best since his first few albums; I'm conflicted as to how seriously he wants me to take the message (which I don't entirely agree with), but other than that, good song.

@GilAskan: Well, I agree with you on your opinion of those three songs. I liked the live version of Goi. I wouldn't talk about happy birthday, it is probably the worst Voltaire song, but sometimes, there are some people that I wish would hear it on their birthdays. The industrial revolution reminds me of where I live, I agree a lot with it but not completely. I hope you found them somewhat appealing, I hope you tell me your opinion about the resst of them when you get it.
I must say that Voltaire has had much better songs in the past, I just don't know what happened to him, Most of his older song had some point of view but now I don't know anymore, they don't make them like they used to ...
@Nik Ballion: Brains? I like that song. Cheesy but fun.

I like that song. Cheesy but fun. I actually liked Happy Birthday. sad I also thought Ooky Spooky was a pretty good album. I mean, it has more of his quirky songs, but that's part of what's so great about him. Yeah, Industrial Revolution is a great song. It's a bit under rated it seems. I also really liked Crusade, Blue Eyed Matador, Headless Waltz, Graveyard Picnic, and #1 Fan (I didn't think I would like the last one at first, since I tend to stay away from almost any songs about love, but that one was good). Oh, and Stuck With You. I don't think anyone needs to mention how great brains is.

Almost Human will always be both my favorite song and album from Voltaire.
As far as albums(okay, technically it's an EP...) go second would be Banned on Vulcan. But that's just my nerdom talking.

Eh. Voltaire's alright. I don't like most of his music, but some of it is pretty decent. I've just never really found anything of note. His sense of humor on the other hand happens to be pretty great for the most part.

I like him okay, but I can't listen to his music for too long; far too twangy and "country"-like for my taste.
I'd -love- to see him live, though; I have a feeling he'd be better if seen that way.
