"Awesome!" Kitty smiled and hoped that this would actually work. Jess had seemed calmer lately, but she knew she couldn't have her running the shop and having a voracious night life like usual. Jess had to be awake and ready to help people with their literary quandaries, be they little or small.
"So..." she said, changing the topic completely with her mischievous tone alone. "How's that boy? Is he being good to you? Because mine sure as hell is!"
She just couldn't wait to tell her own story, but she had to make sure Jess was going to be alright, too.

Jess laughed at that.
"He's absolutely wonderful Kitty! He's not just freakishly attractive, but he's such a good listener...he's sweet and gentle, but goofy and amazing...." She sighed a little, just rambling through Alex's various qualities. "You need to meet him soon kitty...I'm thinking this could turn into the real deal..." She had a distant but shy little smile on her face before snapping out of her reverie.
"But now tell me about this guy thats got you in a tizzy! I've never seen you so giddy and full of life!" She laughed spinning her around before plopping onto the edge of the bed.

"Ah! He's amazing!" Kitty danced around in a circle, and immediately delved into the entire night of dancing, richness and fireworks. Every word was repeated, every little nuance, until it seemed Kitty was completely lost in her memories alone.
"...and things got just a little heated on the way home, but I stopped that... I don't know him very well, you know? But we're going out for coffee and pastries soon. Ah, Jess, he's just so gentle and wonderful and... and his accent."
And yet again, none of this seemed suspicious to her at all. Both Jess and her had known their men for nearly the same amount of time, but Alex hadn't done nearly so much in so short a while. Not that he wasn't ambitious, but he had nothing to rush on about like Nathan did.

Jess smiled as she watched her friend. Jess had had many a boyfriend, none like Alex really, but still had known the feeling well. Kitty had been in in a few relationships, but nothing that really made her this happy.
"aw Kit that's fantastic!" Even though she was a bit wary of what she told her about this guy. Something just didnt seem right but she wasnt about to go bursting Kitty's bubble this quick... maybe he was just slightly eccentric. And goodness knows Kitty needed a little shake up in her life.
"You guys going to the cafe? If you do, say hi to Alex for me. He'll be the one with gorgeous purple eyes..." She added, knowing it'd give her friend a chance to meet her man, as well as maybe ask Alex if he noticed anything odd about Kitty's new bou.

Kitty nodded and grinned. "Of course I'll look out for him! I definitely need to see this wonderful guy."
She would probably be too distracted with Nathan to really pay all that attention to Alex, but at least she could try.
"Well... I'll let you get settled in," she said, backing up a bit. "Maybe call your sweetie and let him know you're alright."
Surely if Jess had had a conflict with her parents, the first person she would have gone to was her boyfriend.

"Ahh....well erm...he knows...." She laughed nervously, combing through her hair as she pulled a ba up on the bed. "I...um...spent the night at his place...." Her cheeks were scarlet as she smiled sweetly. "B-but we didnt do anything....honest....we fell asleep watching a movie, and i headed out this morning before he woke up....so hm...I probably should call him..." SHe smiled reaching for her phone.
"I'll give him a heads up that you're coming ok? You go get ready for your date or whatever..." She stood and gave her friend a big hug.

"Oh, well, I'm not getting all fancied up for coffee... Besides... I shouldn't have to, you know?"
Kitty flashed her friend a smile and started backing up to the door. Customers might be down stairs that she needed to help and that book needed to be finished up...
"It's nice to have someone who just likes you for who you are... But you call your boy and I'll go wait for mine, alright?"

"Alright... I'll see you after a bit..." She smiled, pulling out her phone to dial up Alex real quick.
She hadn't talked to him since last night and that was bothering her a bit.

Kitty went downstairs to her store and book restoration with a somewhat heavy heart. It bothered her greatly that Jess' family situation was so unstable that she was now rooming in her apartment... but on the other hand, at least Jess was doing something about her family problems at all. Kitty's family was on the other side of the planet, but at least they were content. She thanked the powers that be for making them functional.
Meanwhile, on the other side of a communicator, Alex was giving an antsy greeting.
"Jess!" he said, nearly dropping a book on his foot just from the shock of hearing her ring tone. "Jess, how're you? I was just on my way to work... are you alright? Do you have a place to stay?"

Jess was loving the sound of his voice right then. "Hey Alex, I'm just fine. Great Really. Yea Kitty is completely cool with me crashing here for a bit. I'm even going to work part time in her bookstore in return for her lettin' me stay.."
She smiled, finding it sweet he was so worried. "By the way I never got to properly thank you for letting me stay last night..." She added softly, her eyes changing with her tone, wishing she could see him now. "I'm sorry I left so early...I didn't want to wake you."

"No, it's alright," he said. What a lie. When he had woken up, he scrambled all over trying to see where she went, until he found the note she had left. He understood not wanting to wake him, but still. Alex couldn't help but feel like he could have been some help to her.
"So, I think I know that book store... want me to stop by after work and see you? Or we could get together on my break or whenever you're free..."
Gosh, he couldn't help but feel so antsy around her, even though she was on the other side of the phone.

She smiled, biting her lip at his tone. "Um whatever's fine. I'm probably going to spend the day trying to get settled and transfer classes to my name payment wise...so how 'bout we meet up tonight?" She suggested, though remembered Kitty.
"OH! I almsot forgot! Kitty, my friend who i'm staying with, is probably going to stop by with some new boy toy of hers. She's a real pretty thing, quiet with brown hair and eyes. The guy I've met once, he's a bit shady but debonair... I told her about you so they might say hi... lemme know what you think of them..." She smiled, really wishing she could introduce Alex to kitty herself.

"Ah, you're sending me on a mission, fair lady?" Alex said, laughing. "It's all good... I can read people pretty well after all that coffee serving. We'll see how this goes."
Though what would happen if he didn't think this guy was good for her friend, one he didn't even really know? Alex felt like he was going to be dragged into something, but couldn't turn Jess down for anything she asked. Well, nearly anything.
"But tonight sounds good. I'll come over when I'm out of work, but you call me, alright? I don't know how Kitty feels about strangers coming to her shop after hours."

"I'll run it by her, but really I could just meet you out...we could grab a quick, fast, cheap dinner or something..." She offered, trying to keep things simple to show she wasnt as high maintenance as she seemed when they first met.
"We'll celebrate my independence and you're amazingness..." She blushed, glad that he couldn't see.

"Sounds like a date to me!" But time was running short. If he didn't get to work soon, he wouldn't get his break that he so badly needed these days. Alex made an exaggerated kissing noise into the speaker and another hasty goodbye before hanging up, and speeding off to work with the lightest, most wonderful feeling he'd had in awhile.
