Haruko nodded and turned to face Rei, "Go stand by Kenji-san Rei, I don't think I'll be asking for you assistance in this one." Rei nodded and flew over to Kenji's left, poking him on the shoulder with his beak to see if he was still consious. "Hey, you okay Kenji-sama? Not dead now are we?"
Motioning for Kasai to follow her, Haruko moved a fair distance away from Rei and Kenji before she stopped and turned to face him. "Alright, whenever you're ready Kasai-san. You have the first move." Haruko stood with her knees bent a little and her kusarigama in both hands ready to start.

Kasai followed Haruko-sensei to a place further away from the apparently unconscience Kenji-sensei. Having been directed to make the first move, Kasai took a deep breath and moved in a circle analyzing Haruko-sensei and looking for a weakness, but had no luck spotting any. "Well, as long as she is just standing there," he thought, "Might as well go for a head on attack."
Kasai took a kunai out of the pouch on his leg and, wielding it with his left hand, ran towards Haruko-sensei ready to attack or dodge.

Haruko watched as Kasai circled around her possibly looking for a weakness of some sorts, 'Impressive, he knows that it isn't good to charge at your opponant right away and that one should first look for an opening if possible.' she smiled, this was going to a enjoyable fight. Haruko kept her eyes on Kasai's movement and the moment he charged, Haruko slid her right hand along the chain of her kusarigama until her hand was pressed under the spearhead part of it and charged. Aiming to clash the head of her kusarigama to Kasai's kunai before going in for a left kick to his waist.

Kasai was surprised when she charged back. The normal ninja met the attack and dodged, he though. Her kusarigama met his kunai with striking power. Once the blades met, Haruko swung her left leg around, aiming for Kasai's waist. "Crap," he thought, "Her attack is too high to jump, but too low to duck. My left hand is the only thing holding off her attack, too." Quickly, concentrating his chakra, Kasai muttered, "Kawarimi no Jutsu."
Having replaced himself with a log, Kasai layed low in the flowers and grass, hidden from view. "Shoot," he thought, "I didn't control my chakra very well, I apparently can't use that jutsu yet, it takes too much of my chakra. That's going to be the only time I can use that. I'll have to be more careful."

Haruko was surprised, yet not surprised to see Kasai replace himself with a log in order to avoid her attack. 'Well, I kinda did trap him and blocking my kick with his right hand is a risky move that might cause injury. And to get injured so early on into the fight isn't the best course of action expecially against an enemy you know nothing about. Good plan.' Haruko tried to stop her kick but she was already to far into the kick to pull out of it so she unwilling followed through with the kick and connected with the log with the front part of her foot. 'Tsk, that log weighted more than it seems...' Haruko stretched out her ankle while scanning the area for Kasai. After a quick scan of the area, Haruko couldn't spot Kasai anywhere and proceeded to close her eyes, 'If I can't find him by sight, I'll just have to find him by sound.' keeping her eyes closed, Haruko listened intently for any sounds that might indicate where Kasai was hiding.

Kasai layed low, trying to figure out a plan. "Okay," he thought, "She is fast, and her kusarigama allows for short and medium range. Who knows what her jutsu is, though. It could be long range. I don't have any long range jutsu, though. Besides the Substitution Jutsu I only have one other Jutsu. Darn, looks like my ninja tools are my only chance. Even though I don't actually have a chance...."
Kasai fumbled around in his ninja tool bag looking for a few flash bombs. In the process, though, one of his scrolls fell out and landed on a leaf, making a crunching noice. He froze. "Shoot," he thought, "I just blew it."

Haruko tried to concentrate on finding Kasai by the sound of his breathing but the sounds of the nearby barrier river and constent breeze made it difficult to locate. Just when she was about to try something else, she heard a crunching noise coming from the tall grass a short distance away. 'There,' Her eyes immediately snapped open as she reached into her kunai pouch with her right hand. Swiftly taking out three kunai, she threw them in the direction of where the sound originated.

Kasai hadn't realized Haruko-sensei had noticed him until three kunai hit where he was hidden. One embedded itself in the scroll that fell out of his pocket. "Jeez, that's good aim.....," Kasai thought, but his thought was interupted by a searing pain in his left arm. Holding back a cry of pain he looked back and through blurry eyes he saw one of the kunai burried in his upper arm. Grabbing his scroll by the handle of Haruko-sensei's kunai and pulling the kunai out his arm, Kasai lept up and threw the scoll-less kunai back at Haruko-sensei not actually believing it would hit, but it was worth a try. Stabbing pains came from Kasai's left arm forcing him to drop the scroll-kebab. "This is going to be hard," Kasai thought.

Haruko watched as her kunai pierce through the tall grass and waited for any signs of movement. 'Could I've guessed wrong?' Risking a few steps forward, Haruko walked towards the tall grass to check when suddenly Kasai leapt up and throw a kunai at her. Stunned by the sudden movement, Haruko reacted a second too late and the kunai scrapped across her right arm. 'Shoot, I was careless, got to remain focus.' Jumping back, Haruko thought about her next move, 'The difference in levels is apparent and if I go ahead and use that jutsu it wouldn't be right. But it's the best long range jutsu I have, *sigh* no choice, guess I'll have to stick with my kusarigama.'
Passing the extra chains from her left hand to her right, Haruko let about a third of it dangle from her left hand before whipping it across from her horizontally. From her action, a blade of wind was created and aimed at Kasai's current location.

Kasai was shocked when the kunai actually connected. Well, not really connected. Scrapped or grazed would have been a batter word, but Kasai's short lived victory didn't last long, because Haruko-sensei sent her own attack flying at him. Kasai couldn't be sure it was an attack at first. All she did as swing her kusarigama at him with no apparent effect. Kasai was quickly informed that it was an attack, though, when a series of cuts appeared all over his torso and he was sent flying back. "Holy crap," he screamed in his head, and apparently out loud, too, because he heard a yell and knew it was himself.
Kasai landed on the ground with a thud and, although conscience, had pretty much no motivation to get up. "I have to keep fighting, though," he thought, "Maybe if I just lay here for a second, I'll get a chance to think and maybe she'll even come over and then I can attack." Not moving, Kasai peered through his eyelashes and watched for Haruko-sensei's next move.

Haruko watched as her attacked connected with Kasai's torso and cringed when she heard Kasai scream and land on the ground with a thud. Staring at Kasai's unmoving figure, Haruko wondered if he was alright. 'I didn't think that my attack would do that much damage, I hope he's alright.' Relaxing her stance, Haruko walked over to where Kasai was currently laying and stopped about a feet away. Looking down at him, Haruko began assessing the situation, 'The wound doesn't look that bad except for the many cuts he should still be able to stand. I wonder what's wrong?' "Kasai-san, are you alright? Do you want to stop or would you like to keep going? If you like, I can give you a few minutes to gather your barings?"

Soryuu KenjiNameless Village | Nature's Guard | GeninAfter being pecked for a few minutes, Kenji finally came to his senses and pushed himself up from the ground, grumbling at the pain from Haruko's surprise attack and from the ensuing headache. After coming to, he looked up to find Kasai already down on the ground and Haruko rushing to help him. It was unclear whether or not the fight had already ended...nor did he know how long he had been knocked out, but Kenji decided just to stay put and see what would happen next.
"Always to protect...never to harm."

Kasai almost laughed with success when he saw Haruko-sensei walking over to him. His plan was working! He almost felt bad about his plan when she asked him if he was okay and actually offered him a chance to catch his bearings. Out of the corner of his eye he was aware that Kenji-sensei had come to his senses. "Well, at least he isn't dead," Kasai thought.
Quickly, Kasai opened his eyes all the way and blurted out, "Nah, I'm okay. Thanks, though." Instantly, he pushed up with his right arm, sending quite a bit of chakra to it and spun hoping to connect with Haruko-sensei's ankles and knock her down.

'S***! Haruko thought as she quickly performed a backflip in an attempt to evade Kasai's attack. She felt the chakra emiting from Kasai's arm brush right beneath her feet as they lifted off the ground. 'Tsk, that was a close call. Argh, this is the second time I've let my guard down around him, what kind of teacher am I if I'm constantly allowing him to see me letting my guard down. That's it, no more sympathy, I've got to remain focus on the battle.' Landing on both feet a fair distance away, Haruko spun her kusarigama a few times before whipping it at Kasai hoping to hit him right across the chest.

Kasai was almost heartbroken when he missed. Sending a jolt of chakra to his arm, he pushed up and launched himself to his feet. The jolt of the landing reminded Kasai of the cuts all over him. "Jeez," he thought, "This isn't going well at all."
Focusing again, Kasai saw Haruko-sensei spin her kusarigama a few times and fling it towards him. Kasai shoved his right hand in his ninja tool bag and pulled out three flash bombs. Haruko-sensei's kusarigama had reached him, so he ducked and pulled three kunai out of his pouch, attached the bombs, and threw them towards her, making a show of the fact that they weren't supposed to hit her.
