(*snickers* It's her new toy, a gift from a friend. She usually uses blades, but she likes this one. *laughs* And as a side note, Rune met the Morganna child briefly in another dimension - she and three other kids got 'adopted' from there when Rune realized they were being used as experiments. So she's a liiiiittle attached to the kid.)

Dodging the fuzzy dice - she recognized the whizzing noise of lead, thank you, and she'd rather not be slapped with it - Rune raised both eyebrows, stunned. "Wait . . . Fable? She didn't happen to be related to that boy over there, did she?" She pointed after where Taisus had gone. "And give you guys little items to take care of?"

Her face had gone very pale, and she unconsciously touched the amulet hanging around her neck. If this Fable person brought the children to their items, and she was stuck in a box at the bottom of the ocean - Morgan wouldn't come back. She'd never return to the amulet, or to Arthur, Alexander and Valentine.

(('kay, thanks for the note~nyu 3nodding ))

"Yup, that dragon boy was the one who stuffed her in the box and threw her - whooosh~nyu! - over the cliff, into the ocean, downdowndown~nyu. And yup, Fable gave me this~nyu - " Kiarna pointed to her forehead, where the fur was taped -

OH GODS.

"Noooo~nyu!" Kiarna wailed, jumping up. "I forgot to put away the rabbit fur somewhere safe when I jumped into the ocean~nyu!" She raced over to the cliff edge, peering down it anxiously.

(*giggles* Is it bad the first thing I thought of when Kiarna dived off the cliff was "aw crap, there goes the bunny fur!" xd And yay, at last, something Rune can do well! If she doesn't crumble the cliff and drop herself in the ocean. *snickers* For OOC reference, the Pelentaka is a demi-god weapon her cousin has, Earth and Water magic combined. It'd make doing this from the cliff easier.)

Rune muttered a quiet and rather startling selection of words under her breath - at least, startling if one knew several of the Illuzen dialects. When Kiarna headed for the edge and started talking about her rabbit fur, the blue-haired girl followed, looking downward with a fierce intensity. "It was fur on tape, right?"

Without waiting for a reply, she seated herself crosslegged at the farthest point of the cliff, ignoring the height as best she could. Digging through a pouch on the sword belt, she retrieved what looked like a cross between alchemist chalk and a blue marker, etching several symbols into the back of her hands and around both wrists. "What I wouldn't give for the Pelentaka right now." She muttered, returning the tool to her belt and holding both hands at chest level, palms facing each other. Glancing over her shoulder, her mouth twisted in a wry half-smile. "If the cliff starts crumbling, somebody yank me back, okay?"

Facing the sea again, she closed her eyes, apparently concentrating. An orb of blue light slightly larger than a baseball appeared hovering between her hands, circled with swirling wisps of lighter energy like wave foam.

Kiarna wrung her hands with worry. "Yes, it was," she began, but the strange woman had already sat down at the edge of the cliff.

"I'll save you if the cliff breaks or something~nyu," she volunteered.

She desperately wanted to talk, to say something, possibly to scream her head off and start hypreventilating and run off the cliff like in the cartoons she's seen, but she didn't want to disturb the strange person who was on a mission to save her little scrap of fur.

(*laughs* Was going to let someone else reply, but neh, I wanna.)

The energy froze for a moment, then flared even brigher, the sharp increase echoed by the glow of the sigils on her hands and wrists. Anyone listening to the ocean below would have heard the wave's roar lessen, the crash falling to little more than a grumble. And if they looked -

- well, probably best that one didn't look. It was rather disorienting to see the ocean curling back away from the box in a five-foot square, waves splashing up and down or even turning back on themselves to avoid violating that clear space. A second small wave flicked out, carefully settling a soggy patch of fur and sodden tape atop the cube before running off again. In a few minutes, the open area was quite dry.

"Now we get the fun part." Rune muttered under her breath, opening her eyes. Looking at her was almost as creepy as seeing the ocean - instead of green, human irises and black pupils, each eye was filled with pure, shadowed sapphire color that crackled and flicked like slowed lightning. She took a deep breath and let it out slowly, raising one hand and twitching her fingers. A single wave rose high into the air, box and fur balanced on its lip. A moment later, the towering column moved forward and broke over the cliff, depositing its treasure and a healthy spray of water in Rune's lap.

With the items safely ashore, the spell apparently broke, ocean returning to its natural state as the symbols on Rune's arms flickered and vanished. Rune blinked, eyes back to normal, and let out a sigh of relief. "I take it this is your little one?" She asked, carefully peeling the fur and tape away. Digging in her belt pouch once more, she produced a small, clear crystal ball hung on a silk thong, then handed the charm and now-dry Fable to Kiarna. "There's a little clasp on the back of the ball - try putting the fur in there, then hang it around your neck. It's safer."

Kiarna grasped the charm, with the Fable in it, gratefully from the woman. "Thank you so much," she poured out between gasps of relief. As she hung it around her neck, she continued: "I'm so sorry, what's your name~nyu?" Ah. Back to normal now.

"Name's Rune." With a smile, Rune climbed to her feet, swaying just slightly as she gained her footing again. "Rune Traverse. It's nice to meet you." She held the box, cradling it in her arms. "I don't suppose anyone knows how to get this open."

((RAWR. Sorry for semi-late response~nyu. Hmm...I really should wait for Jayoku~nyu...XP Well, just one sentence will do for now...))

Kiarna shook her head, the dice swinging round and the chain holding the Fable artifact around her neck tinkling back and forth - she could be the entire percussion section, at this rate - as she said: "No, I'm sorry, I'm afraid I don't~nyu!"

It was all rather amazing watching Rune with her magical powers summon both box and patch of fur back to dry land. "That was positivetly amazing!" she cooed as she moved a bit closer to Rune. "i am Jayoku. " she said introducing herself after Kiarna.

"The dragon boy said it was sealed forever...but if it could be opened ionce then there must be a way to open it again."

"And if not, we can always break it open." Rune muttered, frowning down at the box. She couldn't help it - the thought that someone had deliberately fixed it so Morganna wouldn't come back was an angry one. The little girl had been through so much, and if Morgan didn't come back, there were at least three other children that would be crushed. Which, if Rune could help it, was SO not going to happen. Even if she had to use the damned Rare-blood powers, there was no way.

Realizing the other girl had introduced herself, Rune looked up and grinned at Jayoku. "Nice to meet you." She commented. "And my element is Water - that helps." Glancing between her and Kiarna, she hefted the box slightly higher. "How on earth did he fit Fable into the box?"

"I dunno~nyu..." Kiarna muttered, poking the box. "Maybe Fable can hear us~nyu? FABLE~nyu? FABLE~nyu?" she shouted, ear pressed against the side of the box just in case Fable answered.

"And if all else fails, maybe Io will catch that dragon boy and force the answers out of him~nyu. That scythe that Fable gave her looks deadly~nyu."

Jayoku's smile waned on her face as she pushed her glasses up onto her face and thus looked to the box. "Though...I do not perform magic i have read up on some forms. Most seals require a percise spell, or sacrafice of some sort. And I would rather not mutter some mumbo jumbo in hopes to get it open...it might make things worse." she said trying to sound informative instead of bossy.

"perhaps a blood token could be accepted?" She questioned looking at the needle still pinned to the cuff of her jacket. She was relieved that it was still there and pulled it out. Pricking her thumb a single red drop welled fromthe small pinprick.

"Perhaps if we all concentrate on the box opening and i run the blood over the sealed edge we could undo it."

Rune rubbed her nose thoughtfully, still holding the box in one arm. "Actually, you're right - I'd rather not make it worse." She nodded to Jayoku, a faint smile on her face at Kiarna's antics. "The blood might work, if you'd like to try." Holding out the box where she supposed the 'top' might be, she watched intently, wishing she could do more to help.

Jayoku looked like she was trying to concentrate really hard, chewing on her lower lip as she drew her tumb across the sealed edges of the box. Her mind desperately wishing that the token would let the Fable be free once more. After she finished she stuck her thumb in her mouth and sucked on it to clean it off, it tasted like blood and sea water, she scoweled a bit at the flavor.

Kiarna shook her head, dead serious. Her face was scary when it was dead serious. "I don't think that will work~nyu...the dragon boy sounded like he didn't ever want Fable to come out again, at any price~nyu...so probably the box won't open without his permission~nyu..." She shrugged helplessly. "You can try, though, ~nyu..."

Kiarna was totally out of her league. She was a normal human, with no magic whatsoever; sure, she was more talented in the arts than other normal humans, and sure she was a little weirder than normal humans, but she had no expertise in magic and sacrifices and whatnot. She had only read about them in adventure stories, and in each novel the details differed...
