The Faun was sorely tempted to reply 'is it?' to Emma's greeting, but kept her comment to herself. Kaok glanced at the book in her hands, but figured it was probably something written in an ancient Human language. Then what she assumed was the bartender approached her. The fact that it was a vampire set her on edge-one of her greatest military losses was suffered at the hands of a small rogue vampire army. It took her a second, but she cast those feelings aside. After all, how could she expect people not to generalize her for being a Faun if she generalized other species?
"I wouldn't know of your physical abilities, my good sir," Lt. Jayim said quite seriously, "I've never met you before."

Upon noticing the glance directed towards her book, Emma held up the cover. One would have expected a grimoire, or poetry, or a series of essays, written in Latin or Greek, Old English perhaps.
The elven enchantress was reading Harry Potter, and enjoying every page of it.

I see the angels, I'll lead them to your door... Lightning frowned as Question left once again. She looked over at Vii and sighed, seeing that the vampire was now in her own little world, oblivious to all. She went back to the bar area and took a bite of her biscotti, which was still sitting on the counter. Turning, she observed the others as they spoke of some duck. A duck. A useful duck, but still a duck. ...There's no escape now, no mercy no more.

Hearing that Emma didn't have the duck, whom he trusted more than this vampire, he returned to the bar. Question downed the rest of the coffee with a single gulp and glared at the vampire. "I think we know how this is going to turn out. Why don't you give me the duck before someone gets hurt."

Vii found herself alone on the floor again and resolved to return to the bar and help everyone in their protest of sobriety. Behind the bar she poured a dozen shots of a very delicious and tasty concoction, sure to be enjoyed by all. Setting one in front of the ice Angel and another for Dr. Question and piling the remainder on a tray she proclaimed. "Free drinks compliments of the house."

Mort smiled at Vii's attempt to quell the building tension with booze, and waved a dismissal hand at the Doctor.
Turning his head back to Kaokie, Mort said, "Nor I you, but I was more asking towards the effect of a drink?"
"We have a fully stocked bar with water, whiskey, juice or even some of the more exotic beverages."
Hearing the Doctor's footsteps approach from behind, Mort adds, "If you would, give me one moment."
Spinning on his heel, Mortimer shifts his focus to the duck enthusiast, "Listen Doc, I told you once, I don't have it."
"If you want to leave here alive, I suggest your tone change immediately, as I don't tolerate disrespect."

Question continued to stare at him, before turning and going towards the door. "I can feel that rubber ducky's essence from miles away. I will get that duck back!" He exited the building, formulating a plan in his mind.

I see the angels, I'll lead them to your door... Raising an eyebrow at the shot of liquid, Lightning asked, "Is this, um, safe for me to drink?" She held it an arm's length away from her face, as if it was poisonous. ...There's no escape now, no mercy no more.

... Were they talking about a duck made of rubber? Kaok was confused, in any case she stood there until she was quite sure that the other two were done. The Lieutenant wasn't one to interrupt personal conversations, not with people she didn't know.
"Alcohol's a no, I'm afraid. Do you have... mango juice?"
It was a sort of humiliating favorite drink, for her at least. For all of the criticisms she had of her people's culture, she sure loved to drink their favorite type of juice. (Of course, in the village that she'd come from... it was more of what the children drank instead of the wine and booze, perhaps this added to the humiliation.)

Flitting over to Skutz she pulled him to the seat next to Lightning and plopped down two shots for him.
"This is what I like to call the nectar of the Gods, and it might be the most delicious thing you have ever tasted, so hurry up and try it so I can give you another." Vii smiled and winked at the minor, contemplating briefly what her nature was exactly, before turning her attention to Skutz, again wondering how he was able to resume the control and hopping the alcohol would lead to another generous donation on his part.
"Yes, we've been slightly busy, but nothing we can't handle. Where have you been hiding?"
Mort was attending to his irritant, and Vii was unsure who to side with having no previous knowledge of a duck exchange. Finally Dr. Question left, and Vii hoped that he would return.

"Umm, I've been.....away," Skutz stammered, kinda intimidated from Vii, "and no drink for me, but Bastion does wanna talk some...I'll still have control though...it's awkward to explain." Skutz had a horrible time piecing his sentences together.

It was enjoyable, at the very least. She turned to Skutz. "Hello," she murmured, her eyelids beginning to droop. In a flash of dark leather Mort went to retrieve the juice.
After tossing a couple of fresh mango's into a blender and straining the pulp, he returned to the Lieutenant.
"Here you are," he said without the least bit of judgment. "Now, down to business, please follow me?"
Confident that Vii could handle the bar for the next few minutes, Mort led Kaokie to the booth he had "slept" in earlier.
"So, if you don't mind me asking, what are you?" This was an odd question, especially coming from a vampire.
Mortimer wasn't like others however, and waited patiently for the response, hoping to understand her nature.
