Awakening IOh no. Ohhh no. Ohnoohno. An egregious squeak interrupted the constant rhythm of the television as Sevilin gaped at his guardian’s video game controller crumbling in his hands. An unpleasant knot in the back of his throat swelled while he watched the game reset and replay the title screen. With the visual splendor of the big screen TV no longer available to him, the sea fairy began to scrunch back into the couch, worrying his bottom lip over the accident. We`rika had introduced him to the magical life-sucking world of video games to relieve the jittery nerves of moving as Chloe had put it and to keep him out of trouble while his guardian was at work. Now after a few weeks, he barely let go of the controller, wooing We`rika with big clear blue puppy dog eyes to stay on a bit longer. It always worked. But now… We`rika poked his head out from the kitchen as the microwave binged. He had said he was baking, but that just meant warming up a frozen family-sized dinner. “Whas wro—OH SWEET JESUS! Maus!” We`rika named his controllers, and number two was now no more. “It… I broke it,” Sevilin said quickly, holding up his guardian’s virtual life line. We`rika just sort of gaped wide-eyed like a fish as the frei plopped the leftovers into his frozen hands. The shaman looked like he was holding the last of his mother’s remains. During a moment of silence for the loyal controller, he looked up at Sevilin. His frei was already using his patent goo-goo eyes that could melt any cold heart, let alone We`rika’s yielding heart strings. He was completely like putty in Sevilin’s hands and so all the Huichol could do was simply cracked a toothy smile. “Y’boob!” How did ya break i’?” “I was just… like holding it and—“ The little sea fairy stopped as he watched We`rika examine the broken pieces, long claws rubbing at the curiously smooth fissures. The splits were spackled with a strange white spray. “Jesus… Is a sal’ stain…” The shaman mumbled, licking his fingers in complete shock, “Sev’lin… Ya corroded Maus…” “… Co… corroded?” The frei floated closer, concern for We`rika’s possessions forgotten in favor of this new word. “Ya know like… like uhh! When ya ea’ a san’wich! Every bi’e makes i’ a lil smaller and smaller… yer hand a’e away th’controller…” We`rika grabbed one of Sevilin’s arms, pulled back his bracelet and stroked the delicate palm with and interested thumb. It was moist as usual, but the more friction he added, the grittier the soft skin became. “How did it do that?”“Yer hands… They... Well I dunno why, bu’ yer hands are producin’ a salty residue. On top of th’water ya produce, i’ jes deteriorated th’controller. No’ surprised, ya haven’ dropped i’ since I gave i’ ta ya…” Sevilin withdrew his hand and We`rika put up no fight, watching him with a furrowed brow as the frei studied his own hands. The shaman was surprised that his gentle sea fairy could accomplish something so destructive. He couldn’t tell from Sevilin’s soft expression if this harsh ability upset him. But he always took the good with the bad, always smiled; something the Huichol should learn and duplicate. “C’mere…” We`rika pulled his frei closer and pinched his cheeks, forming his cherry red lips into a dilapidated smile. “I’lla buy another one tomorrow so dun worry abou’ i’… I’lla ge’ ya some gloves too… Nice ones, ya? I dun wan’ ya meltin’ my face off…” The guardian pulled back, expecting to be slapped for his comment (it wouldn’t be the first time), but instead Sevilin wrapped his arms around We`rika’s dark neck and the man rested his chin atop the frei’s azure crown. “Thanks,”“Yer welcome,” We`rika hadn't really noticed Sevilin had squeezed out of apologizing.

Trust pt. 1"Kay, 'm goin'!" We`rika bellowed out as if Sevilin wasn't just five feet away from him. Though with Sevilin enveloped in his big headphones, mashing away at Maus II, he couldn't be heard over his son's video game no matter how loud he roared. "Yer gonna damage yer ears................. fin........... thingies like da'..." But the little frei was paying him no attention so he quickly exited the apartment and locked the door behind him. It wasn't until he heard the click of the lock that Sevilin slipped his muted headphones off his little head to rest around his neck, ever so slowly turning his head to the door to listen for the sound of receding footsteps. Poifect. He rose from the couch and turned off the gaming console, placing the controller on top of the console and wiping his rough palms on his undershirt before turning off the television for better entertainment elsewhere. With We`rika gone the sea nymph could finally get to more interesting adventures outside. not that he was supposed to, of course. He was strictly forbid to leave the apartment when his guardian was gone, but this place got soooo boring after sooo long being here! He finally figured out how to open the window and well.... he never looked back since. Not like anything BAD ever happened to him. In fact, he made quite a few friends in the park and met another Raevan, Eiry! We`rika was just a big paranoid rat. He had never met anyone who was not his friend! He was pretty sure We`rika just took out his horrible social skills on Sevilin. No one would honestly ever want to harm him, he was too nice! Too cute! You didn't hurt cute things, no siree. Unlatching the glass pane of the window, Sevilin hefted it up with a heavy grunt. Where would he go today? Probably the park, he usually found someone nice enough to talk to there. Floating through the makeshift exit, the blue Raevan mindfully pulled it back low so nothing could get in and floated slowly down to the streets. The apartment stayed quiet into the early morning and drifted into the late afternoon with no new occupants. It wasn't until the rattle of keys that broke the silence of the space. "Hey, Sev--........................... Sev'lin?"

Trust pt. 2It was a surprisingly cool morning despite it being late April, but it wasn't uncomfortable. Even more surprising was the small population of people in the park. He passed a few joggers whom he said hello to, but with their headphones on Sevilin didn't receive much of a response. And with pout in place, the sea nymph kept floating on down the track, eventually cutting through the park in search of something more exciting. He heard the bark of a dog and the faded laughter of a few children, but couldn't find them. "Well, poop..." He sighed bluntly yet still so cutely. Where was everyone? Maybe it was a holiday or like a football game or something. Was it the season for football? As if he knew really. He did other things while We`rika was glued to the television for sports. The little sea fairy took another look around and found someone staring at him. He'd seen the man before actually-- a bit of an overweight man, short and balding-- where he sat around the playground frequently with the kids. Maybe he had a child of his own. "Hello..." Sevilin smiled courteously at the man, looking for any attention he could get at this point. "You're here alone again?" The little fairy's face twitched at the somewhat odd question. Apparently he wasn't the only one that took note of the daily flow of this place. "Do you not have parents?" "Well, I have a dad, but he's at work so I come here...""How long does he stay at work...?" The man shuffled closer to Sevilin, watching the rest of the quite park with wary beady eyes. "Uhh.... uhmmm...." He looked up at the sun, his cherry-red lips rubbing together in musing. "Not for a long while I guess..." The man smiled oddly and one pale hand moved to rest on Sevilin's slender shoulder. His palm was clammy against his warm skin, but Sevilin didn't want to shy away from him rudely. "Why?""W-Well... I thought that... we could have fun together.... you and I--u-until your dad comes home of course..." "..... Okay!"

Trust pt. 3Goddamnit, another voice message. "H-Hey! Is We`rika, have you seen Sevilin?! I--he's not at home like he should be and th'door was still locked--give me a call back if you hear anythin' please!" Hanging up, he dialed another and another until he was out of his lab list. "********' shi'!" If he didn't need his phone so much it would have been mashed into the drywall until his hand was numb and bleeding. The frantic guardian almost stepped on the puppy scampering obliviously between his legs before running off to yelp in fright. "Holy shi' holy shi' h'omigod... H'omigod...." We`rika sat on his couch with his head between his legs trying not to hyperventilate. What was he supposed to do now? He already called the police, but to file a runaway report 72 hours had to go by. How compassionate was that? Right, as if a kid was still alive after the first 12. But this dark cyclone he found himself sinking into was not helping either. Sevilin was smart, he ********, who was We`rika kidding? Sevilin was dumber than a bag of rocks when it came to street smarts. How many <********> times had he told Sevilin not to leave this apartment, not to talk to strangers, not to wander off without him? Why couldn't he ******** listen?! What the ******** was he supposed to say to Dr. Kyou about this? Or his parole officer? He'd probably go back to jail for child neglect or some s**t like that. "H'omigod!" The shaman was pretty sure he was about to throw up. He wasn't sure how long he sat their in woe, waiting. Waiting for a phone call or the police or anything to give him hope. When he finally lifted his head up from his hands it was dark outside. God, my poor baby... "......... r.............ika........"The huichol almost choked in his own surprise as two little hands climbed up the window and pressed themselves against the glass. We`rika's mouth dropped open but only a harsh panicked breath would come out. He lunged of the window and fumbled with the lock to let his Sevilin in. And We`rika remembered the English language. Grabbing the sea fairy with an iron grip, he flung him around and pulled him tight against his chest. "You <********> idio'! How could ya do tha' ta me ya sonuvabitch! I was so ********' worried! How could ya do tha' ta me?! How could ya do tha'...?!" When his voice finally broke, he just held Sevilin against him and listened to him cry until he tired out. He pulled the little Raevan away from him to give him a look over. His round face was flushed red and his eyes were puffy from his flowing tears. His pretty red lips were swollen no doubt from biting them when he was scared. Nothing looked out of place, except he was missing one of his gloves. "Wha' happened?" Sevilin face fell as he tried to think of where to start. --- "P-Please! I... I wanna g-go home now..." His small voice cracked through shivering lips, his big blue eyes wide with a fear he had never felt before. He never knew someone could make him feel like this and, oh gosh, he wanted to take it all back. He believed We`rika now so please make this all go away. He wanted to go home! And We`rika. We`rika was probably home or out looking for him and he would never find him this far away at this man's house. "M-My dad's gonna be l-looking for me. So please... please I--" Sevilin quieted when the man came toward him. "No! No... no... I haven't used that pretty mouth of yours yet..." Backing Sevilin up in a corner, the large man began to fumble with the zipperon his pants. --- We`rika stood there with an astounded look on his face, not sure where to begin. "You............ dissolved his d**k off........ with yer hands.................." He had to stop himself form laughing. Because this was a serious matter! But the literal idea of lil Sevilin dissolving d**k? Oh my ******** God. Ha hahahaha!! "Well like--! He..... pushed it at me and I... I was so scared! M..... My hands were sweating so much it it hurt! So.... so I grabbed..... 'it' and... he started screaming and......." He didn't want to talk about it anymore. He just wanted We`rika. Trembling, he wiped at his eyes and buried his face into his guardian's chest, happy to smell his familiar sweaty disgusting scent. "I'm.... I'm s-so sorry...""Dun ever do tha' again, I was so scared..." The shaman confessed breathlessly. "No' everyone is yer friend, baby, ya can' jes do these things! Somethin'... s-somethin' could have really happened ta ya..." He didn't even want to think about it if Sevilin couldn't have defended himself. "And I'd never see ya again and--" He couldn't go on. His throat tightened at the idea of never seeing Sevilin again. "I'm sorry!" Sevilin sobbed and just let his guardian hold him.

Back in the Day...We`rika's bare feet padded quietly across the hardwood and into the kitchen for another can of beer. Grunting, he opened a new can and pulled his arm back to scratch a funny itch right between his shoulder blades. Ho'God right in that spot where the hand could just NOT reach! The shaman's shoulder popped in spite and he had to stop himself from rubbing his back against the nearest wall like a bear. When did he get so goddamn inflexible?! He could twist himself into pretzel when he was a kid. Key word, kid. The huichol huffed and padded back into the kitchen with stubborn retarded determination. Giving a dramatic stretch, he slowly placed his flat palm to the ground in a large arc and pushed himself through a slow one-handed cartwheel. His feet stood back on the floor and he stood straight. See? He still had it in him. He was still as flexible as ever goddamnit! Turning to the side, he pulled his legs straight together, stretches his arms to the sky and bent back like a bow until his hands hit the hardwood in a simple bridge. "Aha!" Easy peas--Oh God... Ho's**t! OH ********! He couldn't move. We`rika wasn't strong enough to pull his weight back the way it came. "********' shiiii'....." How was he going to get out of this?! He tried to just bend and lower himself to the ground, but he kept slipping and almost impaling his face into the floor. ******** ******** ********/>"..... S.... Sev'lin!" What else could he do? "Yeah wh--" The Frei couldn't even get his question out before holding his sides and laughing at his guardian. "Wh-What are you d-doing?! Hahaha!""N-Nothin'! Jes... jes push me back up! I can' move!" He glared at his son as he came closer without any signs of a helpful smile. "H-Hey... Hey wha' are ya d-- DUN YA ********' DARE!" "Hurr hurr hurr..." Sevilin stood back with We`rika's cell phone open in front of him, and with a quick snap, We`rika was yowling. "S-SEV'LIN!! Y--WH--!! SEV'LIN!!!" "Hang on, hang on I gotta send this to everyone...." Thankfully We`rika only had about 10 contacts. "If ya send tha' so help me I am gonna tear yer hair ou'!!! Sev'lin... N--COME BACK HERE!! S--" Sighing, We`rika lost sight of his son when he went back into his room. Owww. This was starting to ******** cramp! "......................... Haaalp! HAAALP!"

Beauty is a PainWe`rika rolled over to escape the harsh light of the morning that poured into his bedroom. One arm grabbed for the sheets while the other flopped uselessly across the cold side of his queen mattress. It was a nice slow Saturday with no work and plenty of time to just laze around in-- "JESUS Chris'!" He shot up like a bullet at the high-pitched cry of a helpless maiden. "Sev'lin!!" The shaman flailed out of bed, trapped in the covers, and hit the hardwood floor below before crawling to his drawers to get some pants on so he didn't scandalize his son's eyes. "I'mma comin' I'mma comin'!" With both feet in the pant legs, he opened his door and found the bathroom light on. "Sev'lin wha--.... whas wrong?! Ya scared th'shi' outta me..." We`rika sagged against the door frame, his adrenaline wasted for nothing as the sea fairy floated perfectly intact. "Muh..." Loitering beside the bathtub, brush clutched in both hands, the little frei looked back at his guardian with large distraught eyes. His hair was damp and dripping across the tiled floor. "My h-hair.... it's... falling out!" "Wha'?" Tsking, We`rika walked over, slipped across the wet floor and collected himself over the porcelain lip of the bathtub. We`rika saw a few long blue hairs across the tub. ".... Is only like two! Sev'lin! Yer fiine--" "No! No, it's never come out like that before!""Well... Maybe yer jes brushin' too hard. Ugh, I'mma goin' back ta bed, yer fine--" As the Mexican turned to walk out, Sevilin grabbed him by the arm frantically. "Ow! .... Jesus wha' th--was on yer hand?!" We`rika took one of his son's hands in his and scrunched his nose. "Yer hands are really rough, wha' have ya been doin' in here?" "Nothing! It's just salt. They're always like this...""Well, yeah bu' no' this bad..." Frowning,We`rika pulled the blue Raevan close and placed a hand on his soft crown, well, usually soft crown. "Wh--Ah, Sev, yer hair smells..." Which was weird since he washed his hair religiously to keep it pristine. "It feels really... gritty... Wha' ********?" Was this salt residue? Pulling Sevilin away, he looked down at his startled eyes. "I'm sure is nothin'. Jes.... les.... think abou' this for a sec. Maybe... Mmmnn maybe we should call tha' one doctor--Tsu! I'll call Tsu, he migh' know better than me... Jes uhmm... go lay on my bed okay? And I'lla be righ' back. I' will be okay..." Hopefully. Leaving Sevilin, he walked into the living room to get his phone and dial the doctor to make an appointment.
