My dad read Angels & Demons, and I asked him what he thought. He said it was a page-turner, and very interesting, and he liked it in general, but he had a problem with a lot of the discrepencies in the scientific fact, being a Nuclear Physicist himself who used to work with a particle accelerator as a job. He thought a lot of the stuff could have been researched better for accurancy, and when he checked online about it, he found a few sites that said the same thing about discrepencies with facts about the Catholic Church. So he's disappointed on that facet, but he's a stickler about detail.

My fav authors are Terry Pratchett, Robert Rankin and Tom Holt. smile Can you see the link?
Its a close thing between TP and TH. Both are fantastic!! However I've only read a couple of RR's books so I'm still reserving judgement on how good he is, but the books I've read so far are fab. smile

I do not believe I have seen this book or author mentioned, but someday I would love to read and finish my copy of Marion Zimmer Bradley''s "The Mists of Avalon" I would be interested in hearing if anyone has actually read that (seemingly fantastic) ''Arthurian Legend'' fiction. rolleyes

Well, I would say that is enough incentive for me, if the lovely heart lilwhitefawn liked it, I will def have to dig it out and read it through. It seems it must have been in one of the move boxes yet to be unpacked *worries* eh, I need some time before I get into it, anyway... rofl

Miss_Feline_Tenticle Aw, I so wanted my own book club, I think it would have been refreshing, oh well, its been locked. So has anyone read anything by Bryce Courtney? The problem with that is then there would have been far too many thrreads about the same thing if everyone had their own book club or whatever....it's just much easier to keep things all together. Sorry. I personally haven't read Bryce Courtney...Currently reading If Chins Could Kill by Bruce Campbell. Got it at a book signing he did here a couple weeks ago. Being very very careful with it since it's autographed .... Kevin would kill me lol fawN ... that kinda disappoints me that there were discrepencies in A&D...that lessens my faith in the facts in Davinci Code confused You would think an author would be smart enough in this day and age to research facts if they're going to use them. That's what has me stuck in my story.... i have to find a good enough history to use. (you know the one about the window)

I've been meaning to read it again cause it was very good. More detail then the TNT Movie had of course but definitely a great read. Princessgirliepurkle

I've read the Da Vinci code myself. Many of the facts are true and some could be but can't be proven and of course other things are thrown in for storyline purposes. Still for me,someone who is not too strong on organized religion this book was absolutely intriguing to read and really had me pondering. I saw a show on it where they said pretty much the same thing.

magikjaz fawN ... that kinda disappoints me that there were discrepencies in A&D...that lessens my faith in the facts in Davinci Code confused My dad said DaVinci Code was much more precise on its facts. smile I finished Harry Potter 6 last weekend and needed something else to read (wasn't at home, so had to buy) and got Dragonflight, which is the first in Anne McCaffrey's Dragon Riders of Pern series. It was a big change from HP, with all the big words and hints at things without exactly saying them, but I think I'm used to it now, and can see how I'd get intrigued with the other books. My sister agrees, though, that McCaffrey uses bigger words than are necessary. Maybe it's for showing off.

I fell behind years ago and just never re-read, but they were some of my favorite books when i was in high school! As a matter of fact, i just saw some @ a garage sale a couple weeks ago and almost bought them just because! (Those and the Piers Anthony books I could never get enough of as a kid...oh and sweet valley high lol)

magikjaz oh and sweet valley high lol surprised I forgot all about those!! I remember when I was little, Sweet Valley Twins was my absolute FAVORITE, mostly because one of the twins was named Elizabeth and was very much like me! My sister was then reading Sweet Valley High, which I didn't get into until I was a little older. Oh.... *reminisces* (There was also a teen book I read called The Secret, I think, whose main characters were Elizabeth and Carrie, so me and my best Carrie read it together, and drew a picture of the two of us together on a post-it and stuck it inside the cover!) *reminisces more*

jellysundae aw, don't you miss those moments and the closeness you had with your childhood friends? it's so nice to remember though, back to the age of innocence*sigh* I think that's why i like specifically some of Stephen King's books (like IT and Hearts of Atlantis) you never have friends like the ones you had when you were younger.
