Butterfly shrugged. "There are always places claiming to hell and evil and demonic and all that... The way I was taught, hell is a place determined by your own sense of guilt, if you have one, and if not, it is actually a place where you are taught that your wrongdoings really were wrong, typically by angels. 'Course, I was also taught that those who go to hell go there to learn something before being spat back into the worlds to live again, and better, and that Heaven was something much more like the concept of Nirvana in terms of why someone ends up there. I suppose it depends at least in part on the world one is based in--you shouldn't see your counterpart from another universe in the same hell as yourself."

She gave Ora a frank, curious look. "That one's up to you. I don't know who we would meet there. All I can promise is that we would return."

Ora laughed, "Aye, school would be hell too. But I always thought the knowledge of wrong doings was precursor to the punishment." She shrugged, "In any case, I'd say hell is personal. Whether it changes for each person, I have no idea. But it's as personal as the lives we've lead."

She stood up, glancing at the door and taking a few steps towards it. "So that hell would be mine, or a hell in generic terms?"

Butterfly blinked in surprise, and the feeling of depression seemed a little lighter for it. "You can do that?" she asked, suddenly feeling much more impatient with her slowness. "Thought... you needed to be there first, or see the place."

Pausing in thought, she added, "It may be strange... but hell would not be my love's absence, I think. It would be if I had to watch him go on without me, making mistakes in love and life and in what he believes... To watch him go through hard times and have no one there to help him, to ...hold..." her voice broke a little and she felt the depression sink back over her. She shook her head, tears coming back to her eyes. "Yes, let's go there." She lifted one arm very, very slowly and pointed in the direction of the light. "I don't know how far it is."

"My power is slightly different from my father's. Or more accurately, I use it differently. Small charms and spells can add a bit of enhancement here and there...though can also have disastrous side-effects if not done correctly."

She glanced back to the area the flicker should be, her head tilting with her own thoughts. "That would be a pain I've not thought of before. Perhaps because it's not one I've experienced." She nodded, "That would be painful indeed. Very painful." She gave a quick nod as if clearing her mind of it, "I can guesstimate, and we can teleport further if need be."

Butterfly considered all this for a moment and replied with a bit of a sigh, "Perhaps I should have said nothing, if hell is no worse than the worst we can imagine, or have already experienced. I'm sorry." Looking towards the flicker, she nodded slowly. "Let's do this. It's..." she closed her eyes partway, then opened wide in surprise. "This is--! Uh," she looked to Ora and revised what she had been about to say. "It's--not one of those endlessly far away tricks. It can actually be reached! I think it would be a very good idea indeed to go that way, yes. Definitely a more hopeful thing than... here."

Ora shook her head, "It's fine. That is likely one hell I won't ever have to face, or so I hope."

Ora tightened her grip on Butterfly's hand before moving off into the distance towards the flicker. The traveling was different from Xeen's blinking, the feeling of pressure change more muffled. It was modified slightly for easier travel and better adjustment after the fact. Ora's eyes blinked open and closed a moment, finally catching sight of the flicker now that they were closer to it.

Butterfly crossed the fingers of her free hand for Ora obligingly, being given to cultural superstition as she was.

Closer to the flicker, she relaxed visibly. The depression and lethargy were still present, but she felt them easier to bear with hope in sight. "Almost there," she breathed. "Awesome, there are people there." Looking sideways at Ora, she asked, "Do you suppose it's... the denizens of hell, or the prisoners? Or perhaps others like ourselves?"

Ora's shoulders rose up in a shrug. "I would think you'd be more acquainted with this world than I. In any case, it looks like it's more tolerable on that side, than it is on this."

Butterfly's eyes crinkled slightly in a grin. "Ohh, I don't know about that... Remember, it's the hell of your world. I wasn't even sure it existed. And aye. Can you blink us the rest of the way, and we'll see what we can find?"

Ora chuckled "I can't honestly even tell you what my world is, but perhaps. Perhaps." Ora took Butterfly's hand again and moved them that last bit of distance, pulling into a white glimmering room filled with various people dressed in what looked to be hospital uniforms.

Ora chuckled "I can't honestly even tell you what my world is, but perhaps. Perhaps." Ora took Butterfly's hand again and moved them that last bit of distance, pulling into a white glimmering room filled with various people dressed in what looked to be hospital uniforms.

It was a crowded Emergency Room, with what looked like war victims--military and civilian alike--shoved into every corner. There seemed a sort of chaos there, with minor cuts being treated slowly and carefully on beds and those with tourniquets and missing limbs, dying of blood loss and shock, relegated to dirty corners next to doors, where the victims were being constantly slammed in the face. There was what looked like an escaped mental patient mopping the floors with blood and bits of gore. Oddly enough, to Butterfly, a few of the nurses looked like angels. There was even-- "Pious!" she cried out in shock, "What are you doing in hell?!""

A harried-looking nurse with unusually pale blond hair and nearly transparent gray eyes dodged a flying scalpel and a screaming, disoriented patient and made her own over to them. Brushing a few strands of hair back into her very loose ponytail--which was strange, when most of the nurses tried to do this same thing constantly and the hair always fell back in their faces immediately--she glanced at Ora and gave Butterfly a pointed look. "Well. What? You knew I had to be here somewhere. My God is not the only god of this world."

Butterfly seemed shocked. "But--but hell?"

The woman just shrugged. "Where better to earn converts? Everyone here is lost in troubles they cannot face, some praying to God falsely and others praying to gods who cannot help them here. Even the atheists start praying, at some point, desperate for any straw..."

The nurse turned to Ora. "Why did you choose to come here, my child? Why do you choose to stay?" In a very reasonable tone, she added, "You have all of your life to learn the lessons here, to bypass this place."
