Ew, the Joker. But at least you changed back to your awesome avatar heart You know, I just read Queen's mini synopsis, Roki. And I think you just worded my doubts precisely. I'm getting a bit tired of Beka now. Her series might go to the bottom of my list of favorites...though all my hopes are riding on Mastiff. By the way, what is an elkhound? I know Mastiffs are powerful and big dogs, so maybe Beka will be beating rushers left and right...but what would she be if the book were called elkhound. I think I'll be checking wikipedia.

Thankies about the avi. It was the hair that got to me...I've had this hair since I had enough gold to get it on Gaia except for two cosplays (not including that Joker one). My friend Duckie says that it's an impossible hair to work with, but I love it.
And back on topic: I'm a "really negative person with a screwed up moral compass" (my parents words) so I usually and quicker to notice what I don't like about someone. I guess too many things both me about Beka that I really don't like her...Hopefully something will happen in Mastiff to change my mind, but after two books, I'm getting doubtful.

I feel the same. I also didn't really like Achoo that much. The whole animal treatment things pops up a lot (naturally, since Mrs. Pierce adores animals). But it seemed a tad unprofessional for her to suddenly transition to handling hounds. Maybe she should have been more seasoned before they sent her to Port Caynn - an exam, even. Then again, it is a diary. Maybe Beka didn't elaborate on it. Why did they send her to work as a spy? The Provost did trust her, but it seemed so weird to me. Un-Doglike. Also, flirty Goodwin disturbed me. I even miss Terrier's Goodwin. Good thing Tunstall hasn't changed much. Yet.

Goodwin did freak me out. I thought everyone except Rosto and Aniki probably were OOC possibly Ersken. Kora's a horrible healer in Terrier yet all of a sudden she's a wonderful animal healer? I was a bit annoyed at how Sabine was portrayed it was like she was just a mot not a knight in the way she acted. Maybe that was just me. Terrier will always be my favorite Pierce book but Bloodhound will always be my least favorite. At least until Mastiff comes out and we see what it's like.
On an earlier note I talked to my mom about the whole Mastiff Elkhound thing and she said that Mastiff's are well known for being protective and if something under their protection was taken they would hunt down whoever was responsible. When I said the crown prince would be kidnapped she said that Mastiff is what you would want going to retrieve him not an Elkhound. I believe her as my mom is a walking encyclopedia about Dogs and Cats.

Awesome. That's good insight, Queen. Also, I didn't notice the Kora thing. Wow.

Well Lioness and I spent a lot of time after I finished dissecting Bloodhound so I noticed these things. I hope everyone's back in Character in Mastiff. I wish it was already out so we could decide if it's better than or worse than Bloodhound and to see if our fangirl fantasies come true. I want Beka and Rosto to get together in Mastiff even though I know it's super unlikely.
I was curious about why she had changed the name so I talked to my mom about the qualities and she told me all about that which is why I have an idea of why Tammy changed the title. I still think Elkhound flows better than Mastiff.

You have to remember that this would be right around the time that women stopped being allowed to be knights. Maybe the way she acts, and probably other Lady Knights act, is the reason they had the privilege taken away.

Maybe but actually there's still like another 100 years to go before Lady Knights weren't allowed if I remember. Also from what I saw of Sabine's personality she would still have that temper and wouldn't be nervous about Tunstall getting mad if anything she'd scold him or be amused. I just looked it up and there was still a 100 years left before becoming a Lady Knight was Illegal so that's not a good reason for Sabine being ooc.

LOL Maybe who knows. Maybe it was a result of an injury or a Dare about being able to act feminine.
