From deep within the caves a soft voice could be heard, a strange but beautifully haunting language woven gracefully in the form of a song. The caves of the Mistweavers were many, running along the cliffs that surrounded the valley like a bowl, the lower caves would eventually climb to the higher caves, mouths of the dens were concieled well behind waterfalls further up. Maji was among one of the higher rooms, the one where he had first stirred into self-awareness and the one where he had lived all his life. It was a sacred room- the room of prayer in the old days which was exactally how it was being used then. There was something strange seeping from deep within thecaves, it seemed to be mist but wasn't cool nor damp- especially since the rains had been scarce in days of late. The scent wasn't the refreshing smell of mist either- rather it was much sweeter, thicker, more herbal. The mistweavers had long been considered horribly intelegent, having more capabe paws had helped expand their ability where brute strength had stunted in them. Maji often made herbal incense of some sort, it was crucial for the more devoted prayers to the gods.
The caves were lit with strange gems lining the walls, illuminating paintings of lions, paw prints, and strange markings- writing that only the mistweavers could read. Many were still fresh, additions Maji felt were crucial to the history records.

Tumai's ears perked as the sound of gentle singing reached him. It was hard to tell exactly where it was coming from, as the numerous caves echoed and caused the song to sound as if it was being sung in every cave. Soon after hearing the singing, a sweet scent reached Tumai's nose. "Ah...ah..ahchoo!" Feeling more than a little embarassed by his sneezing, Tumai wrinkled up his nose and lifted his paw up to rub it. The scent had merely caught him by suprise, as it was quite strong but had arrived so suddenly. A strange mist accompanied the scent. Gulping, the young adolescent stepped forward until he was stood at the mouth of one of the lower caves. He didn't feel that it was his right to enter though, so he simply peered inside. "Maji, Sir? Are you there?"

Deep within the caves, Maji sat over three bowls of burning inscense- One was a blessed herb that supposidly called the rains- an herb made from dried grass and ground petals from flowers that blossomed during the raining season. The second was more of an earthy smell, made from ground bark, dried grass from the field, and leaves... this was to bless the land with prosperity. The third was the most sacred of all- ground from flowers that blossomed on the highest boughs of valley's tallest trees during the spring, fine bark, and buds from the earth... a blessing to the pride. Maji had prayed over such herbs nearly every day that season, spending a few sun's passes over the sacred caves praying for forgiveness for whatever sins had brought the drought upon the valley and for the return of the waters. Beside his paws he kept the strike-stone... a strange stone that was able to produce sparks enough to light very dry grasses on fire. Nothing large ever, Maji dared not test how large he could get the flames but it was always enough to simmer the inscense long enough for his prayers.
A voice echoed through the caves, calling his name. His song faded as he lowered his paws back to the ground from where he had them extended over the bowls, turning over a shoulder to listen. The voice wasn't one that he reconized... his brow creased slightly as he got himself up and began down the winding halls. "I am here." He called back.

Tumai moved a couple of steps forward into the cave, welcoming the cool breeze that came from within, and appreciating the shade from the sun. His jade-coloured eyes glowed dimly as they reflected the light of the strange gems that lined the walls, and an excited tingle went down his spine. "I've travelled very far to meet you Sir, and I've heard so many good things about you." He called out deeper into the cave, before the strange pictures on the walls caught his eyes. As hard as he tried, he couldn't understand whatever language everything was written in, but he did enjoy figuring out what the pictures represented.

Maji didn't reconize the voice... how strange, whomever it was had heard about him already. He must have already met with Enki or Ramses... one of the lionesses, or even one of the cubs. To have come so far and gone through the pride without any harm meant that he wasn't a threat. Too many times had Maji come rushing from his cave to address a threat along the boarder.
He emerged from the cave slowly, the light of the crystals playing off of his silvery blue pelt, accenting the runic markings over his body and the silvery mane that lined his face, shoulders, and chest. "Well then you are welcome here." He smiled pleasently to the newcomer, "It's hardly fair now- that you should know my name but I've not had the honor of hearing yours."

Tumai had to fight really hard to stop his jaw from simply dropping to the ground as his eyes set upon Maji. He was huge! Tumai had never seen a lion this big in his life and it was an almost awe-inspiring experience. Eventually, after a few moments of silent admiration, the adolescent finally spoke up. "My..my name is Tumai." After introducing himself he fell silent again, as all the questions he had layed out for Maji in his mind had simply disappeared. "I...hm." An attempt to start out from scratch what he was going to say failed, and so he simply smiled rather sheepishly at the great lion and hoped that he wasn't making a total idiot of himself.

Maji listened quietly, a soft smile gracnig his features as always. He never had seemed judgemental through his growing up and it always seemed as though he had a reason to smile, his eyes held no humor for the poor young lion's situation. It was understandable that he'd be nervious... it was a new land afterall, obviously he had come a ways to be here and it must have been quite nerve-shocking to have come all that way and still not know for certain that one might not be allowed to remain.
"Welcome then, Tumai." He said once the lion seemed to be finished speaking, "I'm flattered that you have come so far to see these lands. Might I ask where it is you've come from and what you wish to accomplish here?" It wasn't a sharp question, more or less to humor his own curiosity.

Tumai felt very comfortable with Maji, but he was still a bit in awe of the whole situation and so it took him a few moments before he finally spoke up. "I have travelled from the Ngorongoro Crater. I live there with my Mother and one of my sisters." Speaking of his mother and Hisani caused him to fall into a little thought bubble, as he wondered how they were doing. He was sure they would be safe within the Crater, so he wasn't as worried about them as he could've been. It then occured to him that he had said 'one of' his sisters. It would be wise to mention Ithi. "My other sister lives here already. Which leads me to why I have come here..."
He trailed off to take in a deep breathe, which he then let out before speaking once again. "I wish to join your Pride, Sir. I've tried my very best to learn as much about the Mistweavers as possible before coming here. Once I had learned all I could about your ways and your history, I set out on my journey. On my travels I met Ramses, Kinyamkela and my sister Ithi, all of whom were incredibly helpful." He watched Maji's face for any signs of his smile faltering as he mentioned Ithi. He was more than willing to come to her defense if needed, after seeing how much she had changed.

"Hmm... I've not heard of that region before." Maji tilted his head to the side thoughfully. It would be nice to sit all the new members of the pride down and have them tell about the lands they were from, explain the paths they had to take to get to the mistweaver lands. Perhaps begin a bit of a map, chart out the different prides and the like. It was exciting to think about just how much could be learned from the outsiders but he managed to keep his excitement to just a simple flick of his tail.
The young lion wished to join them. Maji's expression remained the same- a soft smile with his eyes looking seemingly off into the distance as he thougt on this for a moment. It would be nice to have more about... he knew Ithil, perhaps having him around would help the lioness' attitude a bit. Surely another male in the lands would be an advantage to them... he wasn't nearly as built looking as Ramses, Enki, or even himself having lived on the planes but he would no doubt grow in time. Maji knew he needed to establish some kind of ranks among the pride- it was a tad bit disorganized and with the threat of rogues coming to harm the females and cubs... he had to take some kind of action.
"Well let's see...", Maji said after a long thought, "I will allow you to stay in these lands. If you prove that we can trust you fully then yes, you will be accepted. I'm sorry to have to test you like that- but we've been on high alert since one of our lionesses was wounded... we could use a few more guards to keep an eye on the boarders between these lands and the freelands... if you're up to it that might be just the way to prove your merrit though I've no doubt that you'd not betray us. Your eyes don't seem to have that in them."

Tumai could barely contain himself. He had been accepted, although it was quite forbodeing, he had more or less been accepted. And he knew that he would never do anything to betray the pride and that he would defend it with everything he had. It took all his strength to stop himself from bouncing up and down on the spot with excitement, so he simply let out a huge sign of relief and let his muscles fall fairly limp, allowing him to sit more comfortably before Maji. "I'll not let you down!" If he were able to blush he would've done, as he felt so honoured at that moment, and also pleased that Maji saw no signs of betrayal in his eyes. It did however play on his mind a little that a member of the Pride had been previous attacked. Could it have been that Nyek that hid sister had spoke of that done it? For the moment, it didn't bare thinking about. All he knew was that if the attacker ever returned, he would be there to try and stop him.
Tumai wondered what to do next. His eyes ended up wandering upwards towards the highest caves, and then back down again. "Would it be alright if I did some exploring?"

Maji couldn't help but smile at the young lion's excitement. Well he certainly didn't seem the trecherious or malicious type. That would be good, perhaps he would fit right in afterall. At least Maji hoped so.
He backed up a bit, shaking out his mane once more before glancing back to the caves, "Yes you're free to explore but I will warn you-", he glanced back with a bit more of a grin, "Everyone here is very friendly. It's easy to get lost but if you call out someone will come to your aid. Just announce yourself before going into a room- several of the lionesses are fortunate enough to have been blessed with cubs."

Tumai bowed graciously. "Thank you for everything Maji, I'll not let you down." He nodded lightly as he took into account what Maji said, and then with another low bow of respect towards Maji, he headed into the mouth of the nearest cave, eager to get a closer look at the paintings on the walls.
With his quest finally complete, he felt more at ease than he had ever felt in his life. Now that he was a member of the Pride, perhaps he could convince mother and Hisani to join him, so that they can all be a family again along with Ithi. He was thinking a little far ahead though. First, he wanted to get to know the other Pride members better, and become familiar with the Valley itself and the land that surrounded it. Only then would he venture back into the world outside of the Mistweavers.
