Rhian flicked her antennae. "I should at least help more than mess up. . . does growing help, sibling-Zi?" She hoped so; getting to alter was her main goal at the moment since she couldn't seem to get any better as she was right now. All the while, Ellandra stroked the butterfly's head in silence, worried but realizing that Ziazan was doing more for the little one than she could.

Ziazan pondered the question silently, hand idly ruffling Fao's hair where it rested on the man's head. After a moment, it sighed and shook it's head. "I don't really think it does, Rhian. I think growin' has to be done one more levels than just agin'. Think on it some, lass. Crux is still a proto and he's a lot more grown-up at times than I am. You're younger than Lauss, but you understand things better than him. It's all perspective. If one person thinks you're not helpin', that don't mean you're defective, 'cause the same method you use might be just what someone else needs. You're here to help Mama, anyway. I know you like to help me and Fao, but we're alright. You don't have to worry on us."

Rhian tilted her head. "But I don't like to upset anyone- that's all I ever do to you or Ellandra-husband." Exaggerating much, little proto? Perhaps, but she didn't see it that way. And it was hard to have a positive attitude (yes, even she had her bad moods) when she was wrapped up like a mummy.

"I ain't that upset," Faolan said, giving a slight shrug.
Zia nodded in agreement with its owner. "Just because we get moody don't mean we're upset with you."

"Bad feelings are bad feelings," Rhian insisted, starting to try and free herself from her cocoon. Ellandra helps, and soon had the butterfly comfortably nestled in her arms - she was still a bit too damp to fly, but was dry enough for a cuddle, which bother owner-mama and Essentic needed at the moment.

Faolan considered this, then answered, "Because kittens can't poop rainbows." He grinned at the proto.
Zia merely rolled its eyes.

Rhian tilted her head and her owner-mother stifled giggles."I don't get it. What does that have to do with it?"

"It means that everything isn't nice and bright. There's stuff in the world that's bad, and because there is, people have bad moods from time to time," Faolan explained.

"Well, can't we get rid of it?" The butterfly asked seriously, flicking her antennae. Ellandra cuddled Rhian to her and sighed, smiling a little sadly at the innocence of the little proto she held in her arms.
"It's not that simple, flutterby," she said softly, then looked over to Faolan. "Oh, you two go back to your play, you know you want to," she said, smiling brighter now.

Faolan frowned a bit at the dismissal, but figured maybe Elle wanted to talk to Rhian alone. He stood up, effectively dumping Ziazan on the floor, then ran out the front door with the alter chasing after.

Smiling as Faoland and Ziazan raced out the door, and cuddled Rhian to her, rocking her. "Now, flutterby, I need you to listen to me, and listen well. Can you do that, Rhian?" At the proto's hesitant nod, Ellandra started speaking. "I don't know where you fot this idea that you're not a help to me, but I want you to try and forget it, because it's completely untrue. You are helpful to me, and you're very good at your purpose. You're being too hard on yourself, flutterby. Growing up to Ziazan's stage will help you in some areas, but it also makes things more complicated. There's no sense in trying to get there when you're not ready."
When she was sure that Rhian understood, Ellandra rose to her feet, and still cuddling the proto, walked out the door. "Now, stay still and quiet and we'll see if we can find your sibling and Faolan, hmm?"
Rhian nodded. "Okay."

The two didn't have to go far to find Faolan or Ziazan, actually, since they were pretty much right outside wrestling around in a mud puddle, laughing like idiots.
