SWISH!
Jin put the stilettos back behind his cloak and jumped around, observing his handiwork. The sapling in front of him neatly lost a leaf, the leaf falling due to being severed from the branch.
It bothered him a little bit that everyone was seeing him as easily as they were--getting poked in the back with an arrowhead wasn't his idea of "polite"... generally in a battle, said arrowheads would drive into his back with more force than a poke.
For his next act, he tried moving closer to the ground, his body bending over as he circled around behind his opponent, his eyes fixed on the leaf to cut off next...
"...No, no, no. They could probably still see me, moving around like this."
Jin tapped his foot irritably.
Yes, some people though Assassins were veritable masters of shadows who could literally DISAPPEAR in battle. Actually, only half of that was truth. Assassins mastered shadows, yes, but they were generally not magicians. They blended in the shadows with the right apparel, with silence, with the ability to use light and shadow as camoflage to confuse and befuddle their foes until a weakness could be found.
"Argh! How am I supposed to get back to Eyris like this..."
He grumbled, relearning how to make himself more invisible.

Roy rubbed his eyes for a moment before hearing a male's voice directed to him.
"Hey boy, what are you doing?" He turned to look at the man who was now sitting on his other side, since Ninian and Canas claimed the other side.
"I guess I was resting from that last fight..." he said, feeling a little more awake now.
"What's your name?"
"I'm Roy...son of Eliwood and Ninian." he answered. "And you are...?"
The lord wasn't familiar with the sniper, but it didn't as if he was an enemy. So he could relax a bit.
He then turned his head to look at the female voice that spoke to him. It was his mother.
"Mother...I'm fine. Just a bad dream. What about you? Are you alright? Headaches gone for now?" he asked her softly.
He then took a small pause before looking down. He then looked back up at Ninian, sadness in his eyes.
"I'm sorry...I failed to protect you during that last fight..." he said softly.

"Nice to meet you Roy, I'm Shinon," Shinon got up and looked at Roy again. " You failed to protect..... your mother? But she's still alive right? Be thankful." Shinon twirls an arrow around and shoots a tree. "Bah, this is so gloomy, I'm going to introduce myself to everyone." Shinon then walks off towards some of the other people sitting around and resting.

Roy looked back at Shinon.
"It's nice to meet you too Shinon." he said.
Wow...and here he thought everyone knew. But it seemed that the Sniper didn't realize that Ninian, his mother, was sitting right next to them. He didn't say anything about it though as he watched Shinon leave. He then turned his attention towards Ninian and Canas.

After a moment of actually confirming that they weren't those things he saw earlier. A few faces he recognized and after a little bit, finally moved out of the bushes he hid behind and slowly approached the camp. He was almost scared to approach them but at the same time relieved to know that they were alive at the very least. It sucked more that he had no idea what those things that attacked was and now he was (somewhat) lost in the forest until stumbling upon the flicker of light he saw.
...
Somehow he was expecting a beat down considering he had only gotten away with looking like a ragged doll....well..his cloak for the most part. He still didn't know how he managed out of there but somehow he did. "..Hey" he called quietly to the people that were awake and hoping he didn't interrupt anything at all.
(( Sudden entrance, sorry X_x ))

Leon took a good look around him. The warriors here, and most of them were that; were all tired and weary. He'd guessed that the Nomad Trooper and her companions went to hunt, as they were known to do when not behind castle walls or any walls at all for that matter. They'd have the physical necessities, but they were in the need for morale... terribly.
He'd been so down on it for a while, but with Anri now awake and beside him, the lieutenant felt a new spark of determination ignite in him. Mounting his faithful steed and riding him in the center where everyone could hear him, Leon raised his poleaxe loud and proud. "Mem'bers of Fire Emblem Forever! For those of ye who dunno me, I am Leon! Proud Lieutenant under Watch Cap'n Dan! 'Tis be our duty to watch over ya! 'Tis be what I'm 'ere for! So... do ya wish to join me in watchin' our camp? We be needin' extra eyes out 'ere if ya know what I mean! C'mon! Who's with me?"
In the meantime, Sue had released the first of her arrows that were to be used for hunting Game. It took careful patience for the Buck to get in just the right spot where she could snipe for an instant kill. This kind of accuracy was almost harder than battlefield accuracy... usually in a skirmish, you didn't wait for your enemy. You were both trying to be quicker. Hunting however was a game of patience... you moved too quickly, and you lost dinner.
Sue knew this, and let the arrow fly just as the deer had its back to her. One shot, that's all it took and he was down.

Alihi blinked, staring at Leon for a few moments, trying to think of what to say in response to that. Finally, she gave the lieutenant a firm nod. "Leon, my name is Alihi. I'm a tactician from Elibe." She placed Amara on the ground, making sure she would still be comfortable even if she rolled around a bit. She slowly raised to her feet, brushing off her pants with her hands, resting her right hand on the hilt of her rapier afterwords. "I'd be happy to help you out."

Ninian sighed, relieved. "Don't worry about me; I'm fine," she assured her son. "And . . ." She closed her eyes for a moment. "No, no more headaches." The absence of the pain had her more concerned but . . no, no--it was still there. Just the dull throbbing she'd grown used to, but that was normal; they were exiles, and things were far from normal in Eyris, and probably in all Learania for that matter.
Roy spoke again, his words shocking her.
"No, Roy," she began, reaching gout to take his hand. "I wasn't hurt at all. Just because we were separated doesn't mean you failed at anything. You're a strong person; you living through that battle only proves that true. And I can take care of myself. I am an adult."
Technically that wasn't true; by dragon standards, she was a mere child; by human ones, she should be dead. By half-dragon standards . . . well, the only other half-dragon she knew was Nils, so there weren't really any standards. However, she looked to be eighteen or nineteen in human years, which didn't really count her as an adult. Regardless, she was capable of watching out for herself, and Canas, Nino, and Sue (among others) had been there to protect her and keep everyone in their rag-tag group safe.
"There's nothing to apologize for," she insisted. "If anything, I should apologize for leaving your side. I simply acted without a thought."
A shout from a rider she didn't know caught her attention. Seeing that he seemed to be gathering people together to form a watch rotation to guard their 'camp,' she returned her gaze to Roy, her son the most important thing--person--to her at the moment.

A different shade of darkness moved on Leon's left. Behind the facemask, Jin smiled, wondering if this time he'd finally surprised someone. Heh... I shouldn't try to just appear out of nowhere so many times. Not good for making friends.
"And I am Jin. I also hail from Elibe, though I am a Priest by trade," he said, stepping back so he could address Leon and Alihi at the same time. "However, I can also, ahh... well..."
He felt a bit uncomfortable on this last bit. Alihi was a tactician from Elibe, and he'd heard of a tactician from the same land... the same person? He didn't know. But...
"Alihi... did you by chance cross swords with a group known as the Black Fang?"

Alihi turned to the sound of the voice that seemed to appear out of nowhere that spoke to both Leon and herself and, a moment later, actually addressed solely her. Startled, she took a step back. Wh-Where did he come from?!
A moment later, though, she shook off her shock and gave Jin a slight nod. "I did. And this may sound a bit weird, but there's another person here who also faced the Black Fang, leading the same group as I did..." She scratched the back of her head nervously. "I... don't really understand how that's possible, but whatever." She shrugged her shoulders casually.
"Any reason why you asked, Jin? Not that I mind or anything, but..."

Jin's expression was hard to read. Two tacticians who faced the same group? I was only aware of one. But... that's impossible. There was only one tactician, one who took us and showed that we really weren't as strong as we thought we were. So... could we have been beaten by two or possibly three tacticians while we had similar numbers?
That scenario made Jin just a touch depressed. You'd THINK that with all the people they'd once had, somewhere along the line the tactician would find out firsthand just what sort of odds they faced. It was a foolish depression, though, and he knew it--if the two tacticians faced similar circumstances, fought the same wicked powers...
Bah, this is too confusing. Back to the matter at hand...
"I asked about the former Black Fang because... well... I am one," he said, looking towards the ground and rubbing the back of his head. "I am Jin, Shadow Priest of the Black Fang. I never fought... err... yours or any other tactician's army, however. Bad things were happening all over the Fang. I knew it, but I felt like I couldn't escape anyway... live by the sword, die by the sword, you know? I thought I was doomed, but then... well, I came here," he finished. "Why, I have no clue. But FEF's helped me, and I'd like to help it."
"And for the record," he added, "besides a Priest, I can also... dispatch foes quietly. Like with a bunch of morph Snipers back there."

Alihi nodded slowly. "I... I see." She sighed lightly, shaking her head back and forth. Didn't think I'd see another former Black Fang person again... Her gaze focused down at her shoes for a moment. Takes me back quite a bit.
A small smile came to her face and she looked at Jin. "Well, it's good to know of your other... talents besides healing. I'm sure it'll be useful." The tactician said clearly and confidently, nodding her head again, fiddling with the hilt of the rapier. Dang, that was becoming a habit... "I feel that I can depend on you, Jin."

Whoa, really? Just like that? was Jin's response in his thoughts. To trust your former enemy this way seemed just a bit naive, on the one hand. On the other, what he'd said was true... Rhys had been the one to aid him on his arrival here. Long story short, he had a genuine stake in this matter.
...And he had to admit, if their stories were anything like his own, the tacticians were in the right.
"Heh... thank you, Alihi. I'll do what I can to ensure our success. ...So, are we taking shifts at this watching business?"

"Alihi 'n Jin, eh?" Leon turned to them, even having Anri face them while lowering his tone now to speak to the two who wished to join him in protecting the small congregation under the mountaintops personally. "I got quite a bit 'o trouble in m'own past, so... what happened before our meetin' here ain't a least bit botherin' me. I'm honored to be havin' yer company in the absence of m'squad, ya know? But I know 'tis much to be true... Cap'n Dan 'n the rest of 'em are our allies, but they be trapped in Eyris tryin' to quell them riots. They to their job swell, so now it be m'turn to protect FEF." Somewhere, somehow, Leon was hoping they understood him. He'd forgotten all of his manners of nobility except the introduction, being in Learania for seven years. Sometimes when he spoke in what the townspeople dubbed the "Watch Dialect", he'd receive blank stares of misunderstanding.

Shinon walked up to Leon to introduce himself. " Hello, I'm quite sure we have never met before but, I'm Shinon a master of archery. I'm here to offer my services seeing I'm probably not safe if, I tried to go back, the way I came from." Shinon twirled an arrow around. "So your name is?
