Malcholar hadn't considered his own price. Escort work wasn't something that he had considered, ever, but he did need money. He put on his nearly-exaggerated thinking look and started pacing in front of the bench. He would need his ammo paid for, food, compensation for any injuries he would sustain. He had finally thought of a price when Rothmet spoke.
"I wouldn't force you to pay us for protection. We shall do it for free."
Malcholar froze in his tracks, and looked over at his companion. It was a rarity for him to get angry, but he was nearly furious. His companions chivalry had gone too far.
"Free?! you can walk around swinging your sword and protecting her all you want like a knight in shining armor while starving the entire time! I on the other hand prefer a full stomach and compensation!"
Malcholar shouted this at Rothmet as if Rhia wasn't there. He knew his companion wouldn't argue, because Rothmet couldn't speak for the both of them. Malcholar was not going to act as an escort without pay though. Sighing, he sat down and took a couple of seconds to calm his anger. After it had dissipated he looked at Rhia.
"He may escort you for nothing if he wants. I however will decide my price when we arrive at our destination. It could be low or high depending on what I have to fight along the way."
Malcholar believed this to be a rational enough decision. At least he wouldn't starve to death after the escorting was completed. Unlike his companion.
"Oh, and call me Edane, Macholar can be a strain on the tongue sometimes."
He added this as an afterthought, remembering that she had referred to him by his first name.

Klepto_Kit Smiling slightly, Enya held out her hands to Karoku, the both of them glowing with a blue light that resembled light reflecting off of water. "If you'll allow me to I'll heal you, it's the least I can do..." She offered, calmly ignoring the cursing, raging Fenrir behind her. "I'm really sorry about the way Fenrir is acting, but..." She laughed lightly, "He has a very interesting way of communicating with people." She explained; she was used to Fenrir so the growling curses behind her didn't phase her in the least. 'I can definately see the family resemblance... They're a lot alike...' She thought to herself, and when she realized that she could have fainted, 'Oh gods... just what the world needs, two of them!' Karoku pulled his arm away, not allowing her to heal him. "I'm sorry, thank you, but I'd rather not have the wounds from our battle be healed. Thank you again though." he smiled at her, hoping she understood, snorting slightly as she spoke of his communication problem. "I'm his br-" He stopped himself short and glanced back at the others, hoping they hadn't figured out what he was about to say. "I know Fenrir, so I know how he acts." He chuckled a bit, ignoring the random obscenities Fenrir was shouting out behind Enya. He leaned forward and set a hand under her chin. "You're pretty cute, ya know. How did my brother get a girl like you?" He smirked, knowing just how much it would piss Fenrir off that he had done that. He wasn't lying though, she was pretty beautiful. He removed his hand, apoligized for it, and laughed a little.

Blushing slightly, Enya glanced down at her boots, 'Great, they really are a lot alike... Fenrir doesn't respect personal boundaries either...' She thought to herself, and with a slight laugh she looked back up and was about to reply, but Fenrir had apparently decided enough was enough. Quite roughly Fenrir picked Enya up and spun her around, clutching her up against him while glaring violently at Karoku. "You..." He growled out, murder glinting in his eyes. "Don't be inappropriate with Enya." He warned; it was hard to believe that Fenrir hadn't admitted his feelings yet the way he was acting, what was harder to believe though was the fact that Enya was completely oblivious.
A bit annoyed, she turned to shoot him a very hostile glare, but she placed a hand on his cheek and healed him regardless of weither or not he wanted it. "The only one being inappropriate here is you." She said, her voice flat and obviously upset. Fenrir turned his head from where he was glaring at Karoku so he could look at her, and then he put his face way too close to her own and started stroking the tattoos at the corners of her eyes. "I'm only trying to protect you." He replied, but the glare on Enya's face was only increasing. "See, you're doing it right now." She sighed, and with a growl Fenrir set her down and turned away, crossing his arms and grumbling to himself.
Embarrassed and annoyed, Enya turned back to Karoku and looked at him apologetically. "I swear he's not normally this childish. I think he's just upset about the fight being a tie..." Fenrir turned, glaring, ready to reply, when Enya gasped and covered her mouth. "You didn't want them to know Fenrir was your brother... but you said so yourself..." She whispered at Karoku.

It had slipped and the hair on Karo's neck stood on end as he felt the stares at his back. He turned slowly and looked at them, his face soon becoming upset. He had meant to hide that from them, but it had been said unintentionally. He was beating the hell out of himself inside. He quickly thought of something, hoping it would work. He rubbed the back of his head and chuckled nervously. "My brother is in a small village near the capitol. He's told me quite a bit about this girl." He lowered his hand and smiled at them, seeing them think about it, then laugh, thinking it was ridiculous that they had started to think Karoku was royalty. Karo turned back to Enya and wiped some sweat from his brow, sighing in relief.

Her smile a little forced, Enya laughed slightly, embarassed for Karoku for slipping. "I seem to be a pretty popular girl lately," She sighed, trying to change the subject, and also trying to ignore the fact that Fenrir was quite litterally looming behind her, glaring violently at Karoku. "Who would think that just because of some tattoos I'd get so much attention?" She asked, and at that she pulled open one side of the cloak, flashing the entire right side of her body and the many coiling tattoos she had. Growling, Fenrir snatched the cloak from her hand and pulled it back over her, "You're still wearing that wet dress, remember?" He hissed at her, and Enya laughed nervously, blushing a bit.

Karoku got a nice view, but he pretended not to notice. He did however, grin up at Fenrir in an attempt to irritate him even further. Yes, it was quite immature, and he knew this, but it was something he just HAD to do. He was a little perplexed on why some woman had so many tattoos about her body. He shouldn't have been confused on them, tattoos were normal after all, but he couldn't help but think something was odd. Karoku sat down on the ground, feeling the eyes of his pack on him, and yawned. He brought his hand to the side and a dark orb formed. Soon, many wolves of darkness appeared all around the group. Karo looked at one of them, giving him a telepathic message, then all of the wolves scattered. "We will be eating soon. Would you two like to join us?" He raised a brow as he spoke towards Fenrir and Enya.

Smiling, Enya replied with, "Yes, thank you.", at the exact same moment that a scowling Fenrir replied, "Hell no." He froze and looked down at her, frowning, as she turned to look up at him expectantly. "We are not staying here." He growled at her, narrowing his eyes; he didn't like how Karoku kept paying attention to Enya... or how she was paying attention to Karoku, for that matter. "Why not?" She replied almost instantly, a slightly devious sparkle in her eye; she knew Fenrir wasn't comfortable around his family in general, and since he was showing such anger with this particular brother... she supposed she might as well milk the moment. After all, not only did she fairly like Karoku, she enjoyed seeing Fenrir knocked off his high horse and off balance.
Growling to himself, Fenrir replied, "Because I said so, and because I have better things to do." Enya only blinked at him, and then she sank in one easy motion to the ground, folding her hands onto her lap. "Well, I don't, so you go do what you need to do: I'll catch up later." She explained, her smile increasing as Fenrir became visably unnerved. "I'm not leaving you alone with strangers." He replied rapidly, trying to come up with a good excuse. "Fenrir," Enya sighed in exasperation, "I highly doubt they would do anything to me on purpose that's more inappropriate than things you've done by accident," Fenrir visably blushed at those words, "And besides, I really shouldn't be going anywhere in these wet clothes." She finished, arching a brow at him.
There wasn't a thing he could say in response, so instead he practically threw himself down next to her, which made her blink at him in confusion. "What? You're staying, so I will." He said by way of explanation, and Enya shook her head sadly. "Fenrir, go. I know you want to." She sighed, but he only crossed his arms and looked particularly stubborn; she let out a really long sigh and shot Karoku a look that asked for help.

Karoku saw the look and shrugged. He wasn't sure on what to do. Him and Fenrir had never actually gotten along. They both cared for eachother, they were brothers after all, not monsters, but they held more of a rivalry. Karo's ears twitched as he his pack began to move and sit down to the sides of Karoku, but he paid no mind to them. "Fenrir, how have things been?" He wanted to ask about their family, but it wasn't wise to speak about things like that in front of his pack, for fear of being discovered. They were probably already a little puzzled that he would talk to the prince of wolf Maolna in such a tone. It didn't take long for the shadow wolves to return with a fresh dear carcass and a couple rabbits. Auso, the other male in Karo's pack, grabbed the meat and took it off into the forest, Yuna following suit. The wolf was skinning the animals and preparing them for a feast while Yuna collected firewood and the sort. Once everything was set up, the food was placed on a spit over the fire. With Karo's control of his Ki, he let the his internal aura become visible and move off of his body, coil around the spit end, and begin to rotate it. Karo's eyes stayed locked on Enya, wondering just who this woman was. His tail wagged a little and his ears twitched, but he kept a blank expression.

Comfortable and relaxed, Enya settled into her new enviroment and smiled peacefully to herself, looking deep in thought, and completely ignoring the extreamly tense Fenrir beside her. "Well..." He began, then frowned, looking uncomfortable. "I've become leader of the army since I returned home... Father forced it onto me... after o-my youngest brother became possessed by one of the crystals," He glanced at Enya before he looked back to Karoku. "Enya here managed to save him, though..." He slowed down, glanced at her again, and started to feel sick; he was about to say some very cruel things regarding Enya, and though she would most likely not show it he knew he was about to hurt her. "It's the reason why she's so important. Somehow she can kill the crystals and remove them from Maolna, she managed to do the same thing to me..." He trailed off, not wanting to remember that time. "I was under the crystals's control for a few years after I left Khonsalach."

Karoku simply blinked, making no clear expression on his face. After all, he'd known about the events of their brother and him becoming possessed by the crystals. He hadn't really been thinking about it when he saw him though and things began to link up. He looked towards Enya once again and bowed his head, thanking her without words. He was glad that his brothers had been saved, even if they resented eachother sometimes. "I see..." A spark flew up from the fire, making a loud cracking noise. Karo's eyes looked towards the flame, watching events play out before them. Karo's ki soon returned to his body and the food was removed from the spit. They divided the meat up, giving each being a decent portion of meat. The rest would be saved for later. Karo bit down into the meat, letting his fangs tear it apart and consumed it like the wolf he was. He smiled a little at Enya and wiped his mouth, feeling a little embarassed for showing such a rude way to eat. He started to eat slower, looking atleast a bit more formal. "Well, how doest he meat taste. I suppose you will be leaving soon, so if you wish to have more, you may take some." Karoku offered kindly to Enya and Fenrir, showing no signs of hostility towards his elder brother for once in a long time. It would be sad seeing the beautiful woman known as Enya leave, but things happened and there was nothing Karoku could do about it.

Fenrir had been wolfing down his portion until Karoku slowed down, then he too forced himself to slow down; no need to be out done by his younger sibling. Eating at an incredibly slow pace compaired to Fenrir, Enya seemed completely lost in her thoughts, though she was more or less lost in the constant humming of the Crystal Goddess. "It's good, better than the rations we've eaten recently..." She replied, one hand in front of her mouth as she swallowed. "Sure, we'll gladly take some." Fenrir replied, flashing a grin at his brother, shocking Enya. 'Huh... Is he happier when he's full?' She wondered to herself before she glanced back to Karoku. "Have you heard anything about any possessed Maolna nearby?" She asked, "Since it's really the only thing I'm good for, I suppose I should free them before we move on." She explained, not sounding the least bit bitter, only content and happy, though she was certinaly feeling that way. She couldn't help but wonder why Fenrir had to bring up the fact that he was only protective of her because she was useful so often when she thought of him as her closest friend. Fenrir shot her a brief, hurt, look, but didn't protest what she said, after all, it was what he wanted her and everyone else to believe.

Karoko tilted his head back and lifted a finger to his chin as he thought about it. It was his profession to know these things, but he hadn't been paying much attention towards the subject of crystal corruption. He looked back at Enya and snapped his fingers as a lightbulb lit up in his head. "There's a den of 'em a few kilometers south-east of here. I think there were four in the report." Karo placed his hands on his thighs and pushed, setting his torso erect and standing up. His pack stood up behind him and he nodded, ordering the others to divide the meat up between the two groups. Soon, there was a whole pouch of cooked meat and some extra raw meat. With Yuna's power, they were preserved as well, so they wouldn't rot. Karoku stepped up to Enya and set her hand in his, lifted it up, and kissed it gently. He lowered it and smirked at her. "Corny? Yes, but probably a nice formality to give such a woman." He laughed a bit, getting the feeling of daggers in his back from someone in his pack. He turned to see an upset look on Cyrille's face before she turned her head. What the...? Karo turned back to Enya and leaned forward, kissed her cheek, then walked away, telling his pack to follow. He lifted a hand and his index fingers for a wave without looking back. "We'll probably meet again really soon. Good luck, Fenrir, Enya." he laughed a bit, still without looking, and stepped into the forest, soon being vieled by the forests trees.

Laughing, face red, Enya waved goodbye at the group as the departed, "Good luck!" She called after them, and then she turned to Fenrir, who was so enraged he wasn't moving at all. "I'll kill him. I'll kill him." He was muttering to himself, his hands clenching and unclenching as he glared violently after his brother. Enya raised a brow at Fenrir and tilted her head slightly, "Are you now? I'll kill you if you do. He's very nice." She told him, which snapped Fenrir out of his angry trance, only to see Enya retreating off in the direction Karoku had pointed out. "Nice? Nice?! That whelp?! He was only being nice to piss me off!" He yelled as he followed after her.
At her sides, Enya's hands clenched, "Mmm, because it's a complete improbability that someone might be nice to me with out ulterior motives..." She murmured quietly, frustrating Fenrir in the process. "That's not what I meant and you know it! Karoku... Karoku... UGH!" He roared, crossing his arms over his chest. "Moon above, there's nothing I can do, is there?" He demanded in his anger. Enya shook her head from side to side and tucked her hands behind her back, remaining silent. With a sigh, Fenrir continued, "Would it help if I said he's only seventeen?" He asked, sounding resigned to having her mad at him. "Yes, actually," Enya replied, and Fenrir's ears perked up at that, only to drop when she finished with, "I happen to like younger men." She shook slightly with held in laughter, smiling brightly to herself.

Karoku slowly turned into his wolf form, not traveling in this form for a long time. Fighting against Fenrir had only made him realize just how rusty he was in his wolf form. The other's in his pack transformed after he had and readied to dash through the forest. Karo stepped over to a yipping Iio and grabbed a portion of it's skin on the back of Iio's neck. With that, he began to dash off into the forest, the others following close behind. When he said that they would meet again soon, he meant it. By the time Fenrir and Enya could reach the cave, Karoku would be sitting down on a rock within the cave, with four corrupted wolves lying unconscious around him. Karo smirked as he thought about it, laughing when he actually made this thought come true.
Karoku sat down on a rock, just as he'd thought of doing, getting odd glares from Cyrille, unable to determine why. He hadn't done anything wrong, or so that's what he believed. Karo began to hum and let his tail wag back and forth in happiness. He took a piece of meat from the pouch, not caring that it was raw, then bit into it, savoring the taste in his mouth.

After a short, awkward, silence between the two, Fenrir let out a long sigh and moved so that he was closer to Enya and next to her. "What happened to your other clothes, anyway?" He asked her, trying desperately to change the subject. He didn't do small talk, normally any conversation between Enya and himself began on her half, and since she hardly talked unless it was important... 'No, that's not true. She was more talkative than I've ever seen her since Karoku showed up...' He growled slightly at that, but there wasn't anything he could do to make her less talkative. "They're in your bag." She replied simply, as if it didn't bother her at all.
Annoyed, Fenrir jammed it at her. "Change back then. The sooner you change, the faster we can get there; I'm not carrying you if you're dressed like that." He snapped at her, and he immediately felt bad, his ears slicking back as Enya whirled on him, looking more angry than he had ever seen her before; but then she took a breath and let it out slowly, nodded, and took the bag. "Just... Stay here, then..." She sighed, and of course Fenrir had to dig himself deeper, "What for? It's not like I haven't seen you naked before." This was, of course, referring to when he had been in wolf form constantly, before Enya knew he wasn't just an oversized wolf.
Fenrir wouldn't have even known how much he had pissed Enya off if it hadn't been for the fact that she was suddenly, and quite litterally, engulfed in a dark aura. Teal eyes glowing, she shot him a glare that in all rights should have killed him, and then stormed off to find a place to change. "I really hate you right now, brother... We had been getting along so well before you showed up..." He mumbled to himself.
