I'd have a hard time living without modern refridgerators, sinks, toilets, ect. Other than that, I think I could adapt...

I will have to say my computer XD. Personally, I can care less about the internet not being around in the Victorian Era because I would be surrounding myself with crowds of High and Working Class, let along I would be more of a social individual than I am now. There is even a touch of sleaze that I'd expect in this time frame, just only more "discreet" and "modest."

I was thinking about this the other night... If we're talking about a Steampunk Victorian era, then I wouldn't miss anything except the specific creative properties that have come into existence over the past 100+ years. Specific bands, songs, movies, plays, books, etc. Other than that, pretty much any modern amenity could theoretically be reproduced on a low-tech scale with steampunk technology. We could still have air conditioning, cars, TV, "ethernet," feminine hygiene products, and convenient mechanical music players.
But if we're talking about the historical Victorian era.... Well, I would miss EVERYTHING. I would probably be sick, sweaty, tired, uneducated, and miserable.

well in a neo-victorian steampunk era I'm pretty sure something similar to cell phones would be achievable, I've read about little...video boxes that act like radios between people upon entering a code.
and....air conditioning would be very possible, like the air conditioning of a car, water with fans over it...although it wouldn't be SUPER cold like we have now.
buuuuuut.....it depends. I mean, in florida...without AC...you die >_> like...even with AC...I'm sweating in my house.
._. but airships....dowant, yes.

My iPod, and the computer (And internet). That's probably the main toy.
It would also be hard to adjust to a world were my basic rights are limited due to my gender, but I would imagine a steampunk world would be at least a bit more equal. After all, it's a futuristic society.

I would miss videogames and computers, but so long as I had an airship to fly around in, I'd be ok.

Tampons. Seriously, even if your male, you do not want to see an entire population of females suddenly deprived of tampons. Though if this is a individual event, if just I was going back in time, I'd say penicillin. I can live without mobility for a fourth of my life, so long as I don't catch anything from the rest of you grimy little corset wearing FREAKS.
As for who I'd like to meet? Fridtjof Nansen. Or, as a second, Henrietta Swan Leavitt.

Xander_Telmis Actually, a steam powered air conditioner is completely possible. Just replace the internal electric motor with an external steam engine and you're done. And the new thing in the major thing in the steampunk community is finding a way to make modern items work in a Victorian setting. A steam generator can be used to make electricity for any thing that can't run on steam, so the iPod, the computer, and many other modern conveniences are possible. You just have to look at the bigger picture. I would have to say video games. While higher technology would be possible, it would probably be relegated to military-use or only be affordable by the rich. I would hate having to give them up. Alternatively, servants.
