I got my period when I was 12, either on or the day after christmas. I didn't notice blood till the day after, but I had cramps the night before when I went to bed. Nobody was home when I got it though, and I was scared for some reason or another, to tell my mother about it (probably because she likes to announce things like that to everyone, and I didn't want anyone to know) . So I didn't tell anybody for six months, but then I got really really really sick and couldn't get out of bed or anything, and got it right in the middle of being sick, and so I pretended to my mom like I'd just gotten it for the first time xd
I basically only use tampons, except at nighttime. I hate pads with a passion. For some reason, they always told us in school that it was 'bad for us' to use tampons before we were 18 or something. But I'm not dead, or injured and I can go swimming during my period biggrin Tampons are Soooo much better than pads.

hmmm.. i was in 8th grade, like, 13 and i just woke up n had to pee.. so i went in the bathroom and bled alot, and screamed. my periods always really heavy and since im really tiny, (4'11" 90 lbs) the pads fold up in the back when i wear them...lol and i cramp so bad i throw up and get diarehha (sp)

I got mine when I was 13 (which ticked me off cause my mom and sisters got theirs at 14), and it was the same night as a pool party for my swim team, and I got it at school. My sister had to stand outside the bathroom and give me instructions on how to get a tampon in, it was so embarassing!

uhhhh...i think september of 7th grade...
i woke up one morning and was getting dressed when i noticed a brownish spot in my underwear...i didn't scream but my mom was away for the week so i snuck into her closet and grabbed a few pads and a tampon. i put one of the pads on and prayed that i wouldn't leak through sweatdrop . i didn't tell my mom until about a year later because her reactions to "me growing up" are usually really weird...i started using tampons when we had swimming in gym and i had my period (i was so happy because i got it in right on the second try)...but now it just seems that i leak right through tampons (even super absorbent ones...but i still have to try OB, which everyone says is really good) so i normally use pads unless i'm swimming/i'm out of pads at the moment/i have a REALLY heavy flow (which happends about 70% of the time). I've always found that pads with wings work better somehow...

MySexual-Lover I got my period when I was 12, the summer before 7th grade, and now I'm 15 and in 10th grade. I honestly don't clearly remember exactly what happened. Thats what happened to me :]. Though I was at a resteruant, and since i'm a messy eatier I thoguht I spilt something on myself so I excuse my self to the bathroom. Then I noticed it was my pareiod, so I texted my mom from the bathroom xD. My brother texted me back and said my mom was in the car and that he would tell her when she got back. I'm still embarrased, though hes 17 so hes no stranger to that kind of stuff.

I got mine the day before new years in 2005.I was 11 and was on christmas break.
I went to go to the bathroom and saw i had bleeded through my jeans.The worst part was that my mom was at work and I had to ask my dad where the pads were and he's all like, "O cangatulation....I think." Then we went to his friends house and one of his kids was all like,"we can go in the hot tub tonight" so i had to tell her.Then I found out my mom told all her coworkers(she works at a lubmer yeard so its mostly guys)

Liera Unullagata I got my period when I was nine years old...fourth grade. I was the only girl with breasts and a period, and I had to use the teacher's restroom because it had a trash can so I could change my pads. It sucked until fifth grade when a couple other girls got their periods, so we suffered together. I wear pads all the time. Tampons give me the worst cramps on the planet, and since my periods are nasty to begin with, I don't want to make it worse. I also take birth control just to regulate my periods, as otherwise I start bleeding and won't stop. The same thing happened to me. And my mom called the school and told my teachers to watch me. It was just so embarrsassing because the teachers kept asking if I needed to go to the bathroom. Then I had became self-concious and I would hold on to my purse for dear life.

I remember I was twelve & it happened the day after I came back from camp (thank god! eek ). The next day I was at my uncle's cousin's house & excused myself to go to the bathroom because I felt weird. I pulled sdown my pants & that was the first time I ever said, "s**t." Then the next day I had to go to Saskatchewan for a week! (I'm from Alberta, Canada)

Every time I look back I laugh because we were learning about that the day I started. You're not alone. I had breasts in fourth grade and started my period in fourth grade.

I got my period on August 12, 2006. I'm 13, going to be 14 in October, and going to be a freshman. ^^
Of course I remember getting it cause it was less than a month ago!
I had to go to the bathroom, so when I sat down to do my business, I saw a brown-looking blood spot. I was nervous/scared because I knew it was period, so I told my mom.
Haha, my mom was so happy/excited.
I had my first period for 10 days. D:

overcastic i got mine when i was 11 and my first peroid..i'll never forget it...i had it for not 5 not 6 not 7 days.....i had my first for 14 days!!!! that was the worst thing ever....my mom thought i had something seruiosly worng it went away that was awful and pianful.... Mine was like the same length. I never had cramps untill like this year though.

Oh, god, yes. Ha! 6th grade, age 12-ish. Yuh, when I had my second boyfriend..
I was in Math class. I felt uncomfortable in my seat. I was always self-cousious I would get my period but it was just..eh..leakin? XD Well, I asked like usualy for the bathroom and I went. I pulled down my pants and gonked at it. I noticed it went through my underwear AND my shorts.Thank god they were black rolleyes Anyway, I tried my best of stayin clean and went back to Math. I noticed my chair had a red-mark on its brown codin. I tried to ignore it. Bad to say, it was my boyfriend's homeroom seat. I told my friend(who's goin out wit him now) and she laughed. Hope she won't tell >.>
I remember goin home and washin it out. Stupid spreadd pink mark! I went on the computer after gettin a clean pair and when I was in the shower she asked me if I had my period. "Y-yeeaahh" I said. She was like, "Is blood comin out of your virgina?" It's so embaressin when a parent says it -.- Then I had to wear one of her jumbo pads(next day I got small ones I wear to this day) I remmeber her aksin me how to have a baby and she's like "You know, the penic inserted into the v****a?" Just made me wnat to hit her. She said she was proud and she asked if I was sad. I said I jsutw anted to get on the computer. Her large pad was annoyin standin.
