The speed of the rain stung against my bare back. I had been gone for quite sometime now. My ideas of leaving school hadn't been the most brilliant of thoughts; I wish I realized it sooner. It took a few days to finally decide to show up. O just prayed they all weren't together, they'd maul me. If anything, I'd rather have Tess with them. That way they'd be less likely to kill me, especially in front of such a fragile girl.
I took a short break, pulling a pack of Luckies out and slipping one between my lips. I quickly lit, taking it in deeply. A small black car that reminded me of Kimi's flowed in the distance, gradually growing larger as it got closer. I reached out my hand and extended my thumb in hopes they could give me a lift

"Oh," I responded and got up. "Is there anywhere to...um...go around here?" It really was a simple campus from what I had seen, and the chances of one of them opening a golden door with brass cheribs inscripted on the corners was highly unlikely, but perhaps by bringing it up I could get a tour of the place and, who knows, maybe I'd be surprised.

I rolled back onto the bed. "Not really, but we could show you around a little." I suggested, leaning my head back to bellow a drawn out yawn. I sprung back up and showed her to the door. "Won't be long, Gab, don't eat Tess outta house and home while we're gone," I looked back at the boy taking a swig of something and waved childishly. We stepped outside. "Fiiiiirst stop on our tour," I began, simpered down at her tiny face, we have the boooooys bathroom! Exciting." I chuckled.
"I was hoping we could look outside," I giggled. "Unless there was some infamous water fountain that you were dying to show me," I felt better. It was always a process with me, getting used to being around something that, for the time being, was permanent.

Kimi slowed as she approached a boy trying to hitch hike in the middle of no where in the rain. She came to a stop right in front of the boy only to look at his face and see... "That little b***h..." She hissed though her teeth and unbuckled jumping out of the car. She stormed around to the other side and swiftly grabbed the boy's shirt and slammed her fist into his gut. "You lying! Selfish! Basterd!" Rain water streaked down her face and body. Her thin white dress shirt was quickly soaked through and her light blue bra shown though. Her fist took one more swipe at his ribs and she dropped her raising her arms over her head. “What the hell man!” She yelled. “Have you no Idea what you’ve done to me!?” Her voice cracked.

I nodded and showed her the courtyard nearest our location. "This is Tess's spot, really. It's open to others but...you know," I shrugged and thought for a moment about Tess. Last night, this morning, everything. I was the reason she suffered, but too coward to do anything about it. I could have followed her out of the room. I could have made sure she was alright. But I didn't. I looked around the shrubbery and floral decor of the courtyard. "Tess?" I cooed, praying there would not be a response. I couldn't see her in the condition she was in, knowing that it was my fault.

"I don't think she's here," I began, "she probably went off with...er...Kimi." It felt weird to say that name. I didn't know the girl at all, except the fact that she seemed decently mannered but had a habit that would be the death of her some day, which was a dear shame. Smoking was something that went around when touring with the circus. It was natural, considering the stress on the road. I looked back up into his eyes. Funny, I failed to previously note how complex they were. They popped like balloons, but also had a very mellow feel to them. Comfortable, I guess that was the word. "Oh," he replied and smirked a little, embaressed I guess. I also noticed the brightness of his smile, which was hard to miss. I stopped myself and looked down at my shoes, ashamed. He was in bed with Tess this morning, he was her's. How could I be so dumb as to think...nevermind. I realized then that I was absolutely helpless.

Once the car came to a complete stop, I realized it not only reminded me of Kimi, it was Kimi. Crap. I backed up a few paces but it was useless. Her fist collided with my stomach twice while shouting at me before she collapsed to the ground. I kneeled down clutching my stomach; for a girl she was tough. I wanted to put my hand on her shoulder to calm her down but was frightened she'd break my hand, finger by finger. Keeping a good amount of distance I spoke, "You have no idea how sorry I am about leaving. I realized that I made a mistake and never should have left you guys without a single good-bye. If you let me, I'll try my best to explain everything. If not, that's fine; I knew I'd hurt you all and yet I left...I f**ked up." I moved a bit closer, unsure of how she'd react. If Tess was in the car, I'm sure she wouldn't want to make her worry but watching the two of us quarrel.

I kept my head between my knees as the car came to a halt. I didn't bother asking why, anything Kimi said was nothing but a whisper; my cries preventing from me hearing. I stumbled with my phone and texted Demmy a quick but simple message.

"Hey. We need to talk l8er"

I wasn't sure if I should have made the message more personal but my eyes stung far too much to keep them open long. Plus, it'd be better if we spoke in person and privately about the whole thing. I pulled open the glove compartment and took out a few tissues to wipe my eyes with, removing any left over eyeliner or mascara.

Kimi straightened up her face stone cold and showing exactly how much he had hurt her. "Hell yes you ******** up. " She spat at the ground and ran a ran though her wet hair. "Give me... Give me an excuse, a reason, anything just so I don't want to strangle you so badly." She balled her strong musician’s hands into fits at her sides. "Before Tess hears that you've come back." Kimi wiped the rain from her face as more fell onto it, She could not help but worry about Tess even more now. The rain was only falling harder now and it pained her to know in the back of her mind that her hair and makeup, not to mention her shoes where totally messed up. "If you ever... ever... leave like that again I swear to all that is holy and good, that you will never be found, and the people who have known you will have to satisfy themselves with old photographs and memorabilia at you pitifully funeral..." She let one small sob escape her lips before regaining control of herself.

I took a small scoot forward and looked into her eyes so she'd know I wasn't lying. " We both know I dropped out because I found it pointless, but that's not why I left." I let out a sigh before continuing."I received a call from my father," he hoped she remembered the horrible past him and his father shared. Only would something drastic happen for him to call his own son. "He informed me that my mother was in the hospital and was diagnosed with cancer. It was her wish to see me before it was too late." My eyes moved downward, feeling uncomfortable with sharing private information with someone who I never really confided in. "I left that night. Trust me, I wanted to leave a note, something but I had to go. I stayed with her, sleeping in the waiting room each night until she would be let out. Then, the doctor told us she had three days. On the morning of the third day she passed. At first I was going to stay for the funeral but chose to come back since I didn't want to have to deal with my father again."

Kimi nodded solemnly and put a hand onto his shoulder. "I'm sorry..." She said and took a moment to listen to the rain hit the pathment, then sighed. "We can talk about it more later, But don't tell Tess... Say something dumb, let her hate you... she needs to." Kimi led the boy over to the back passenger's door and helped him in before walking around and getting back in the car. Her hair dripped and she hated herself for not bringing an umbrella out with her. She dried her hands and face on a sweatshirt then took out her last smoke, lit it and breathed a sigh of relief, now ready for what would surely come. "We are going out for coffee, Trace." She informed him loud enough for Tess to hear.

I nodded in agreement to not informing Tess about the actual reason knowing that later it would only make things more complicated. I climbed into the back seat, sitting behind Kimi. I glanced over to Tess, who seemed to stay still.

Instantly, I froze in place. My hands stayed tied together and my posture remained hunched over. I tried to move my mouth to say something but nothing came out. The only thing I could do was try to sort through the now racing thoughts that scattered my mind. This was too much. I wanted to get out the of the car that very instant and walk back. I'd rather be with Demmy, Gab and the new girl, who's name I still hadn't known, than being in this car at this moment in time. The salty solution ran down my face much more than it had now. Finally, I moved my arms and covered the side of my head with them. I needed to scream.

Kimi hit the lock button and turned around heading back towards town. She stopped at a corner store just as she finished her cigg. "Five minutes, okay?" She got out and left them walking inside, Kimi needed a few things and didn't have anyplace else to buy them. She bought six packs of cigarettes, one menthol for Gab, and a diet cola. Within three minutes she was back in the car, a brand new light in her lips. "Man, guess what Trace?" She said getting ready to start letting him know the goings on since he had left. There where a few things he needed to know. Kimi was feeling a lot better now, and a lot more easy.

"What?" I couldn't help but look over at Tess every few seconds. Her silence worried me. But like Kimi said, she needs to hate me. Hopefully, she'll forgive me eventually. I couldn't even begin to imagine what she's going through with me, someone she trusted with everything for the past year or so, leaving unexpectedly and then randomly showing back up when she was already having a hard time. I pulled out a new cig and lit it, the previous one hadn't lasted long in the pouring rain.

Kimi drove in silence for a few minutes before turning on the radio, it was set to the local collage station and It's out time now played loudly. With a smile Kimi sped down the wet road nodding to the music. She stopped in front of a small cafe and unbuckled. "Come on ladies." She said kindly and got out of the car. She closed her door gently careful not to hurt the paint. The rain had let up a little and she finished her cigg before dropping it to the moist ground and stepping on it. This would start her life back up. Trace was back and life could move on...

A tall lanky figure stood before three men in a dark, secluded alleyway, cracking his knuckles. The three men were muttering amongst themselves, casting the occasional horrified glance at the lanky one to see if he was going to attack. Finally they all looked at the lanky one, each with worry in their face.
"Listen, we don't have the money, but-"
He was interrupted by a knee to his nose, and fell back against the wall behind him. The lanky one calmly put his foot back down, cold eyes fixated on the one who had spoken. The cigarette hanging from his lip moved as he spoke to him in a gravelly tone, disgust hanging on every word.
"You each owe me 50 G's. That's a lot of money, man. This ain't a charity, neither. How it happens, is I give you money, you do your thing, then after a fixated time, you give me my money back, plus interest. Now, what would happen if I don't get my money? Business goes bad. I no longer get money. That doesn't make me happy. Does that make you happy?"
All three men hurriedly shook their heads, horrified in how this conversation was going. Yes, it was horribly cliche, but considering who was speaking, it was all the more horrifying. The lanky one lifted up his white pants and crouched, careful not to get them dirty. After all, everything was already wet.
"Now that we've got some common ground, where's my money?"
The men each started blabbering about how they didn't have money, so the lanky one threw blows at the two men still standing to get them to quiet. They all fell and became silent, watching in horror.
"Man, please Marcus, just give us some time..."
Marcus started walking away, stopping before the alley revealed itself to the street. He turned back, eyes locking with theirs. He spoke, venom hanging on his words.
"You've got till next week."
Marcus walked off, wiping the blood from his knuckles. He placed the expensive DJ headphones onto his ears, and let the relentless pulsating beat of Rammstein beat his eardrums senseless. Marcus finished his cigarette and flicked it away, then entered a cafe. It was a small place, but it had good coffee. Marcus ordered a cup, then sat off to the side, relaxing after his criminal endeavors. These idiots. They shouldn't borrow money they couldn't pay back.

I sang along with the song stupidly until we arrived at our destination. I followed Kimi out of the car. Once out I tossed my cig on the ground and put it out with the heel of my jacked converse."Y'know, you never did tell me what I had to guess, Kim. I'm still waiting for an answer."

As the car pulled to a stop once more, I stayed statuesque while Trace and Kimi exited the car. This time however, I could move I just didn't want to. I didn't want to see his face, hear his voice, nothing. There was no way I was getting out of this spot unless I was yanked from it if someone else retrieved me.

"Never mind..." Kimi shook her head. She walked back to the car and opened Tess’s door. She put a hand on the girl's arm gently. "Tess, honey..." She said softly. "Do you want to come in or stay in the car?" She brushed a strand on hair out of the girl's face and tilted her head up to look at her. "I'm going to leave you here, Come in when you are ready okay?" She took out her keys and placed them in the girl's lap so that she could listen to the radio and keep the heat on while Kimi got coffee inside and relaxed. She closed the door and walked into the coffee shop, sashaying straight up to the counter and ordering a Large house roast. She filled the cup herself and put in a large amount of cream, then two packets of splenda before stirring and topping her cup. She took a sip and burned her lip, but didn't drop it. She sighed and walked over to a seat next to the fireplace and settled down onto the couch.
