Kochikens Don't worry about that, Akina. Got it covered. *thumbs up* As for the rest, I don't really think it was practical before because all the fa'e were kids. But now? Now it's an awesome idea. Because jesus, its a bunch of gods in Gaia. They need some organization. To maybe elect a mayor/leader, or appoint a sheriff and stuff. Oh man. An election and stuff would rock. Maybe instead of the HQ they buy an apartment building and all live in it and theres a janitor or or. Oh. Getting ahead of myself. Anyways, I completely agree that there should be some IC internal organization. Has anyone ever read Fables and are familiar with Fabletown? Something like that, maybe. (Well, except on a far lesser scale.) Agreed, 100%. That would be fun, and also practical; I've wanted something to give the characters more cohesion as a community. >3 (Also, I'm told I should read Fables? Sometime? Hehe.) The other thing I'll say is that I do think allowing for some freedom/retooling of characters would be good, though I want to focus on the big OOC issues first. But I do think that'd be a good option now, since I think things are more... hm, easygoing now, as it were? Re: The rest of the thread - still reading through, it's a lot to check over and mesh together in my brain, but I thought I'd mention in terms of assets for art purchasing, I do have one high-priced item from the mule that we can throw in the pot, whatever we end up doing. Sorry about my slowness on this, work has been very hectic (tutoring center + midterms = OHGOD) and when I get home my brain is pretty squishy and mushy.

Think Aki has some awesome ideas there. I agree too that having an LC there haven't been many answers for my character ICly. I'm lucky that Iarla fell in with Dusty early because he got a great foundation there. Otherwise I'm sure he still be roaming around trying to figure out what the point of being a Fa'e actually was. I still wanted Iarla to meet Airi, although that was impossible. I just read the GMFC hiring thread too; it's another avenue to consider with how to do staff artists (as most people did seem to want some staff artists while allowing commissioned art too). This is the thread. Here's what they're talking about summed up: Quote: In plain english, this means that future appointments will be done by a team of floating artists. You do as much or as little art as you are capable of (But please, be reasonable), and you are paid for the art that you do. If you need a break, take a break. If, for some reason, you are unable to continue with the shop, it's okay to resign. And what this means for PARENTS is that there will hopefully ALWAYS be someone to complete your growths in a timely fashion. This is just a general overview; we'll be happy to clarify any points and answer questions either in the shop, or in this thread. This does of course mean that, concerning staff art, stages are likely not to be done by the same artist. I'd want mine done by the same person (I think everybody would) but this is a good option. It helps to eliminate the potential flaking out of one artist screwing an entire set of Fa'e over. Just something else to consider. Sosi, I do have the list of people who filled out the survey that expressed interest in artwork, but it was pretty limited. Just so you know. I can email that to you if that's best.

I don't know how comfortable I am with the idea of their being a "Fa'e government" or the notion of all the Fa'e being thrust together into an apartment building. While I'm sure Aadil would appreciate digs better than the ones he currently occupies, I feel like it would be almost... awkward? Stifling to RP? "Hey Roth where were you last evening? We didn't see you at communal dinner." "Oh I was totally questing LAWL" or something. I don't know. It's not the worst idea but something about it doesn't sit right with me.
The idea of Fa'e ambassadors is intriguing however. I don't think it'd be terribly unlikely for a Fa'e to realize that there's all these LCs running about and just kind of take up integrating them into society. It'd be kind of hilarious and would probably lead to some interesting group roleplays.

It would be optional, Puchiko. Just a suggestion, and nobody would be forced into it, obviously.

Yes, I mainly just wanted some kind of order to the Fa'e... ness. There are certain Fa'e who ICly would probably be into that kind of thing. I think of Shina, for example, though I know Eirnae isn't around. The nurturing ones who don't mind answering questions, helping set people up with homes and jobs, introducing them to people, etc. In general, I think that the Fa'e HQ should be a little more function-y. Fa'e mixers. Annual Fa'e barbecue. It's like being part of a club, you know? You get all the junk mail, and some people are really into it. Some people thumb their nose at it. Of course, I don't mean for it to be super official or anything, but it would be nice if introduced in a loose way.
Especially with Airi MIA, I think that some of the older Fa'e would step up to lead the brood, so to speak. They would recognize the need for some kind of leader -- at the very least we need someone to be the House Mom/Dad for the HQ. Who is living there nowadays? The LCs pass through there, but there is probably a permanent caretaker. Airi was the one answering questions (on occasion), and now, someone else needs to look out for the best interests of the Fa'e. ICly that makes sense, especially for older Fa'e who interacted frequently with Airi. Think of the Watchmen -- someone is killing off masked heroes! Except this time, the threat is against the Fa'e. So they have to stick together.
That sounds a bit metaplot-y, but it doesn't have to be. I just know that I would dig it if someone was ICly kind of running the HQ. It could lead to a lot of interesting RP, even if other Youth Fa'e get pissed at whoever is voted in to keep the ship moving.
Anyway. Those are my thoughts... again.

Taking into consideration how disembodied this all has become and how much improv and cohesion and teamwork needs to take place - not to mention how much we're all going to have to be contributing to really get this off the ground in any kind of a significant way in any permanent capacity - doesn't anybody feel like some of this ought to be, or to have been, put to a vote?
I would like to second the notion that the metaplot, in the past, has veered mightily in the direction of those who are controlling it, and that makes it awfully difficult to maintain interest, frankly. In the past "including everyone" generally meant a handful of characters, not coincidentally those controlled by those coming up with the plot itself, would be free to make actions that really impacted the storyline, and the rest of our involvement sort of began and ended with the freedom to note our characters reactions, gape politely, and step back out. I'm not feeling that and I'm not really interested in continuing to act out someone else's storyline with no sense of impact or control. I'm not here to play a linear RPG, I'm here to develop my character in her direction and read avidly while others do the same.
I don't like the idea of our not being allowed to even discuss the metaplot here. I appreciate the fact that a great deal of work has gone into it, but if the rest of us will be playing along we will also be contributing a great deal of work. In the past I have felt strongly that the plot was being held with a real iron hand and that it was very difficult to break in with any new ideas or innovations because the crowd at the top was too attached to their own ideas, and really, to me, that seems to entirely defeat the purpose of what we're doing here.
Things were a bit different in the past, but now we are all improvising, and I would like to see a little more freedom and a little more openness to new ideas and a bit more of a sense of group planning or at least cooperation that would make this truly a combined effort. Those of us who have put the same time and love and life into our characters should not be relegated to the backdrops when we're not needed, and I really strongly feel we need to avoid the exclusive cliqueyness and stagnant blood that dominated us before and alienated those of us without privilege. It seems to me any hint of discussion is already being very quickly and firmly stifled and that doesn't bode well.

Just speaking regarding the metaplot (since...apparently this isn't something that's being dropped, uh), I can generally assure everyone that Kochi and I have worked REALLY hard to make it ultra accessible by everyone who wants to participate and the shape of it largely relies on what you guys do with your characters. I know for my part if I wanted to keep a story under an iron grip I'd just write...a book. A group roleplay should be fun with about a million different paths to take depending on what the group does both as cohesive units AND as individuals and we've spent a long time sitting down and making sure we can tell a coherent story while giving you guys literally all the freedom in making decisions. I don't really want to say anything more because we're not supposed to be talking about it in the larger context of this thread, but... *shrug* : x

The feeling I'm getting is that the no-metaplot-discussion is less of "you have no say, none, we've already done it all", and more of a "we have more important priorities before getting into the RP/metaplot". But even still, I don't see why we shouldn't be able to discuss it, even if the organising things is more important and needs to be done first.
I like the idea of Fa'e ambassadors. I think it would be very IC for some fa'e. ... And Roth would likely come up with a plot to try and disrupt it, or balance out all this lovey-dovey crap going on ^_~
An optional fa'e dormitory might be an idea, particularly for the current or possibly future LC / new fa'e. New guardians might want somewhere to settle while getting used to it all. I certainly don't see the older fa'e all being forced to move in, though. For one, there would be riots. For another, would you really want to live next door to Roth, or Dil, or Silver?
And yes, shouldn't there be votes of some kind by now? At least some beginning to steps to ensure the majority are all for sub-bosses to Sosi who are in charge of large areas, like plots, growth, etc.? Otherwise we'll be here chatting and discussing for months...

Well, really, I think the point is more that "there will be no more metaplot after this one last event", so arguing about how bad it might have been is kind of a waste of energy.
I'm more interested in where we will go from here, how collaboration on future plots can take place. I've already made my suggestions, though, so we'll see. I do agree that things should be put to a vote, though, and that changes need to happen asap.

The Fa'e HQ already has rooms for Fa'e to live in, doesn't it? I was kind of surprised that so few characters took advantage of that; mostly LCs, as I recall. I don't know if we need an outright dorm at this point, but maybe a more systematic approach for what we do have, so we know who's living at the HQ?
Fa'e ambassadors = very very good thing. I've wound up just assuming some knowledge for Dusty based on what his Guardian would have told him, but there's never really been a good chance to let him get sat down and told "this is what a Fa'e is", and I'm sure it's the same for a lot of the younger/newer Fa'e.

Sosi might be able to clarify this, but when Caoimhe moved into the HQ, I -think- she was told by Conrad that it was a "temporary" spot to stay until she got on her feet. I can't remember clearly, but I vaguely recall someone mentioning that no one actually could live in the HQ permanently. When Caoimhe ICly moved into the HQ, I know that I was aware I would have to figure out a way to her out relatively soon. I wish my memory weren't so foggy.
I agree though. It makes sense that some Fa'e might live in the HQ, especially those who are just moving away from their guardians or who are LCs.

Re: House "mother" or whatever
You know, I think Yani would be interested in maybe hanging out at HQ and being a helping hand...His temperament is pretty good for that sort of thing. I just feel SO LOST to what is going on with the metaplot that it just kills my urge right now.

Fabletown was more Fables living the lives of everyday people, and the central government there didn't have secondary concerns like, idk, discovering their past lives/selves/powers. I don't think it would be wise, for example, to have a mayor--or a sheriff, or a deputy mayor--who won't always be around because they're off on some quest or another. Love the idea though, of course. heart (And Sosi, you should absolutely read Fables, yes!) biggrin
