Cooking is one of my favorite hobbies and I dream of becoming a great chef. I love to experiment and sometimes end up with pretty weird dishes, but at least they taste good, according to the people who have the (mis)fortune to sample my food.
I would love to share some great recipes but I don't really have any as I usually go on a whim when cooking. 4laugh

I envy those who can just through things together without following a recipe and it turns out great. I guess I've done that a few times but it's just as often turned out badly. I'm good at following that recipe though. lol

Peanut sauce is one of my weaknesses. 4laugh i don't really use a recipe. i start with chunky peanut butter, and add apple cider vinegar, soy sauce, sugar, sesame oil, cooking oil, and garam masala, heavy on the turmeric, cumin, and chilli powder. pour in hot/boiling water to soften peanut butter and achieve desired consistency.

Still, it's worth experimenting with. smile

I find I can only creatively cook if I have a good amount of time and certain items on hand. I don't eat a lot of red meat so chicken is always a must... and mushrooms, I must always have mushrooms. I have an excellent recipe for cream of mushroom soup, a breakfast concoction that I haven't actually named yet and a fruity chicken dish I like to refer to as purple chicken.

I'll start with the purple chicken. Don't ask me for exact measurements because this resulted in me throwing stuff in a bowl and trying to get it to taste right after I had just come home from the dentist and half of my face was numb... I was surprised at how good it turned out (after I could taste again, that is)
Purple Chicken Mix together [approximately] 1/2 cup blackberry preserves, 1/2 cup other berry preserves (I had a rhubarb, strawberry, cherry jam on hand), 2Tbs yellow mustard, 1Tbs worcestershire sauce, 2Tbs sugar, 2tsp garlic powder and a touch of salt. Add extra of any to taste. Let chicken sit for about 10 minutes in mix. Preheat pan lightly coated in oil Transfer chicken to pan, allow to cook for approx 7-10 minutes depending on thickness of chicken. After chicken has finished cooking, remove from pan and make gravy from remaining marinade left in pan. To make gravy, add 3Tbs of flour to pan and cook on low heat until incorporated. Bring heat up to high and slowly add in milk, whisking constantly. Add more milk as needed to thin. I recommend adding 1-2Tbs of chicken bouillon for additional flavor. I serve it with couscous and a veggie.

Camwen Soakinwett Ran this in the restaurant today...Seemed to get a great reaction from it so I figured maybe whoever would like to give it a try! Very Summer-y style soup served chilled of course razz Fresh Peach and Yogurt Soup
2 lbs Fresh Peaches 12 fl. oz. Dry white wine 2oz. Honey 1 fl. oz. Lemon Juice 1/8 tsp.Cinnamon 4oz. Plain Nonfat yogurt Heavy cream TT ( or which ever grade milk/cream u would like..but note it will come out slightly thinner which is still fine) *TT- To taste Pistachios finely chopped -As needed 1.Pit and chop peaches with skin on. Place in a nonreactive sauce pan along with the Honey, wine, and lemon juice. Simmer for 30 minutes covered. 2.Puree peach mixture in a blender and after wards strain and chill. 3.Stir in cinnamon, yogurt, and heavy cream. 4.Serve in chilled bowls and garnish with finely chopped pistachios....If u dont like pistachios just dont add them heart Makes 1 quart of chilled soup I made this today and it was a big hit - especially with the kids. My son said it was the best soup he ever had. 4laugh For people like me, you can add apple juice instead of wine. *Toddles off with recipe in hand.*
