"Aww. I thought you would cook." Replied Alek before taking the carcass and bowl leaf. His nose wrinkled at the sight of animal blood but he kept it so he could use it while cooking. Tearing the goat into pieces, Alek took the pieces that he figured would be better dried for the trip and placed them into the embers of the fire. Then he went about the rest of the goat and turned it in the fire.
It a small way it still amused Alek how the goat was steadily cooking while the fire just licked him playfully. 'Ah, the advantages of magic.' He thought with a smirk before glancing over to Ashierra, "Wha..." He trailed off and shook his head, knowing her she was going to find something to do with that skin. At least so far Ashierra seemed like a practical one to him. His thoughts drifted until smoke smells grabbed his attention.
"Oh!" The meat was definitely about to burn if he wasn't careful. Pulling back Alek wiggled the cooked carcass pieces and placed them down carefully on a clean yet large stone. "Food is served, madam!" He called out playfully before sitting down with the fire sizzling behind him.

Ashierra was busy cleaning the skin when a slightly smokey smell drifted toward her. Looking up, she repressed the urge to tell him to move the meat. Hopefully he'd notice soon, or learn the hard way. She smiled, pleasantly happy, when he didn't burn the food and chuckled. "Thank you sir." She said, setting the cleaned skin to the side and padding over to the slate of rock. "At least it smells edible." She teased, picking up a piece and taking a large bite. She nodded in approval.

"Of course!" Replied Alek with a faked pout, "I am an amazing cook after all, don't you think?" He chuckled and started to tear into his piece with his hands, stuffing a strip at a time into his mouth. The food tasted delicious in his mouth after all of their running and Alek was glad for their break. Not that he was really tired, but the cattaur did enjoy a chance to eat and relax. 'Can't wear her out either.' Alek mused silently as he swallowed. Pretty soon the rest of his meal of the goat disappeared into his mouth.

Ashierra smirked playfully. "Of course I think. Be rather boring living alone if I couldn't." Stuffing down the rest of her serving she licked her fingers clean and stretched, smiling somewhat contently up at the sky. Little sparks of flame emitted from her tail as it twitched here and there in pleasure. "Shall we get ready to move on then?" She looked up at the mountain with renewed energy now that she had some food inside her.

"Psh." Replied Alek with a sigh before smirking, "Though it t'is a surprise to hear that something does go on up there." He winked playfully before reaching back into the fire so he could take out the drying strips. With quick movement the cattaur wrapped them up into cloth and stuffed them into his traveling satchel.
It was then that Alek looked back up towards the mountain, "Yeah, time to move." He laughed, "But only til we find a good spot to take a break for the night. I really don't feel like risking anyone's neck after all in the dark."

Ashierra stuck her tongue out at him and made a dismissive motion with her hand before getting up. She picked up the goat skin, used her magic to make sure it was completely dry, rolled it tight and stuck it into her own bag. "Sure. It was a new moon last I saw, so tonight would be only a thin crescent. Not much light." She gave the moutain incline they were on a quick scan. "I wonder how many other animals or taur call that spot home?" She said, looking up at a small patch of forest ahead. "Looks like it'd be good protection. We could probably get there by sundown if we hurry."

"Oh jeez thanks for that piece of already known information." Replied Alek as he tied the ends of the satchel together. His mouth twitched despite his curtness as the cattaur mused out loud. "A many might or maybe none." He shrugged, "Who knows what and who lives here and there?"
Shaking his head, Alek saluted Ashierra. "Sounds like a plan, ma'm!" He called out. 'Though I thought I was the leader in this expedition.' He silently pouted though he would've picked that spot probably as well. But his eyes narrowed, "Hopefully we can find high up trees or a cave or something." He murmured imagining what type of beasts could threaten them.

Ashierra rolled her eyes. "Well, I know how hard it is for you to think of anything obvious like that. Glad to help you out." She said tartly. Slinging her bag around her waist she tied it tight so that it wouldn't get caught on anything. If she lost anything on a mountain side, she'd have a long way to get it back. "Hopefully." She repeated in agreement. "Well. Onward and upward." Giving her hair a shake, she turned up and headed on.

Alek refused to reply and instead just nodded at Ashierra. And for once the cattaur allowed her to lead the way. He was too busy observing what was around them to really pay much attention to where they were actually heading.
A small smile flickered over Alek's features as he thought about the greatness of the mountains. 'They loom above as if nothing can harm them and yet look as delicate as flowers at times.' He thought absently looking up towards the snow tipped peaks.

Ashierra allowed the silence to linger, treading on softly without talking. She hadn't been over these mountains before, and though she walked quickly she also observed her surroundings as Alek was. With the return of spring came the sounds of birds, the budding of trees and fresh green sprouts from the ground. Everything was fresh in spring. Being in the mountains, she had forgotten that the sun would be on the other side, so they were cast into shade quicker than she had anticipated. "Lets move it Alek. Don't want to get caught out here." She said, picking up her pace more than before.

"Yes, ma'm!" Replied Alek with a small smirk. His paws barely touched the surface of the ground such was the speed of his pace as he caught back up to Ashierra.
"Hey!" Alek purred as they entered the forest like area and his tail swayed happily behind him. It smelled nice here, like they were in a field of flowers dripping with sweet nectar. "Ashy~!" He pointed towards their left, "I'm thinking that one of those vine covered areas might mean a cave or something."

Ashierra sighed in relief when they reached the forest. She closed her eyes to inhale all the scents. She'd never been to any forest that smelled this sweet. She looked at where Alek pointed. "Then there we shall go." She said with a smile, walking slowly to the vined rocks.

Alek smiled in return before walking through the vines, then his eyes flickered over to a wide gap covered loosely by the dark green tendrils. "Ah-hah." He murmured softly before moving around Ashierra. Looking closely Alek realized that not all of the vine's flowers were actual flowers. A small grin flickered over his features as he looked at Ashierra with a faint purr, "Watch."
With that command, Alek reached in and moved back the doorway of vines startling the colorful insects that had recently hung there. In a great explosion of colors, many butterflies and other insects scattered into the air in graceful flight.

Ashierra tilted her head as she followed Alek, gasping as the bugs scattered. Her eyes were wide, taking in the menagerie of colors and insects. "Cool." She said softly, batting at some of the bugs as they flew by. Then she smirked, seeing the bugs had been covering a crack in the rock she hadn't noticed.

"Indeed." Replied Alek softly as he reached out and caught a straggler. It was a red butterfly with orange spotted wings and he held it in between his hands, "Odd place." He whispered giving the calm butterfly away to Ashierra.
"Let's explore some more!" He called into the silence as he slid into the crack disappearing from view. Alek found himself in a dark tunnel that seemingly lead to a cavern of some sort. With a grin, the cattaur held out his hand and formed a small flame to light the way. "Hurry up, Ashy!"
