Lumi shrugged the best she could, she'd never been very good at gossiping, she'd never really been around the older girls enough to know how to do it properly, but her Guardian alway's seemed to be listening to the local gossip and telling her about it.
"Well..." she said a little uncertainly "you know, I've never heard anything bad about the wives or sons... just that they're all gorgeous and 'quite the catch', but you know... i have heard that the youngest is supposed to be a 'confirmed bachelor'... But the father, there's A LOT of talk about him. He's supposed to be quite the tyrant. All the elders were always thankful he never payed any attention to our little community."

Lumi raised an eyebrow and looked in the direction of Balin. Brushing the chuckle off she shook her head. "You know, i don't actually know if there were people that were going to rebel against the duke.. But i left the mountains when i was fairly young... plus my mother was deeply troubled by the talk of the Duke, he'd sent my father and a group of other's on a scouting trip. She'd called it a death trap at the time, maybe it was...." Lumi frowned as she thought about it, not that she hadn't had the same thought herself a few times... "I hope someone rebels against him, Herla's like that don't deserve their powers."

Concern crossed Lumi's face as she hesitantly walked up to Heret and nuzzled him comfortinlgy. "Don't be, it's not your fault, it's no ones fault, my father knew what he was getting into." She stopped actually nuzzling but stil kept the contact. She didn't blame Heret, why should she? In fact, Lumi didn't even blame the Duke, she only really blamed her father.
She looked up at Balin and nodded her head in agreement. "I know, that's why I've always wondered why the eldest son never pushed the Duke out of power, that would probably have the least blood shed."

Lumi pulled her head back and looked at Heret with a confused look on her face. "what do you mean Heret? what do you mean?" She looked from Heret to Balin trying to comprehend the statement. "What does he mean?" If Lumi had been looking at the situation from an outsiders perspective she would have figured it out lickety split, but she wasn't... This was her Heret they were talking about. She couldn't even fathom that he was a part of the family she'd just been talking about.

Lumi's eyes widened and her mouth dropped as she looked in horror at Heret's face, how could ANYONE ever do something that horrible to someone like Heret? She coudn't even fathom it! "Oh Heret!" she exclaimed burying her face into the side of his neck. "I'm so sorry!" she mumbled, even though she wasn't sure if her words were muffled."I shouldn't have said anything, I should know better then to talk about others! I'm so sorry" Her gut wrenched as she thought about the fact that not even half an hour ago, she'd been planning to leave him on his own again. Not only that, but she'd called him gay!
"oh god..." she whispered mortally embarrassed, she gave a strained laugh "Heret, why didn't you tell me you were gay?" It had been her Guardian's idea to say that, it was her attempt at making this situation a little less, depressing.

Lumi laughed and rolled her eyes, with a flp of her hair she looked over at Balin. "I don't know Heret, you're a nice, sensitive SINGLE guy. Not only that, but you're into decorating and you used to paint." She giggled in good nature and nudged at the side of Heret's neck. "correct me if I'm wrong Balin, but don't most Herla's consider that to be the characteristics of a Gay herla?"

Lumi smiled slyly, and nipped at Heret's ear playfully. "Don't worry sweetie, i know you're not, it's just fun to pick on you~" She giggled and looks over at Balin. "So you're a playboy huh?" She rolled her eyes and smiles some more at Heret. "I'm up to your standards?" she asked, a genuinely sweet smile and tone to her voice.She couldn't help the smile that stretched from ear to ear.
"WEll isn't HE a charmer?" Her Guardian chimed approvingly.

Lumi's heart sstopped and the breath caught in her throat. She looked over to Balin, slight panic in her eyes, an alomst 'help me' look in them. She didn't want to leave Heret, not now, not ever. But when she heard the words "the rest of my life" she began to panic again, and the thought of flight kept coming up. At that moment for the first time, she was happy that Heret was blind becuase that way he wouldn't be able to see her expression. She didn't say anything, she just stayed close to him, feeling like a horrible person all the while.
