Valthier returned a second time, from his house in the center of Ulorbbath. he strod eto the school once more, too drained to think. he had no thought on his mind at all, only robotic depression. he made it to his office and opened his desk drawer, but when he looked inside it he could not read a damn letter of the writings. he could not even tell what papers were the tests he had to grade and which were attendance sheets. he sighed and fell into his chair, almost falling asleep as soon as he did. he coul not tell if he had sat for a few seconds or a few hours, but he got up and walke dto the window. taking gaseous form he floated to the roof of the room and took shape again, to sit and look out over the city. he forgot how pretty it was, and it seemed intiguing all over again. yet at the same time he hated it, found it ugly and hideous. he couldn't decide. he pondered that for a while, but ended up losing his thoughts again, they dissipated into mindless oblivion. tears fell from his crimson eyes and rolled down his icey-toned skin, falling onto his snakeskin jacket.

The door to the supply closet burst open with a surprisingly loud crashing noise as Rayn seemingly flies out of the supply closet with his cloth set on fire. After hitting the ground he just lay there in what appears to be some kind of dining hall as he lazily picks himself up as though he was not suprised and didn't care that he was on fire. As he picked himself up the bones in his neck and back could be heard cracking as though he had just gotten a chance to rest from whatever heavy labor he just escaped from if indeed it was heavy labor. Once on his feet he finished cracking his neck as he waved his right hand about as a gust of wind blew around him reducing the fire to cinders. And leaving him once again standing in an unfamiliar place where he could feel unfamiliar eye staring at him from the shadows. He takes one long deep breath and then sighs as though to say ["what next?"]

Rayn looked down at his coat as the ripped portions and burnt edges slowly mended themselves. As the guard approached, he looked up and rolled his eyes at the man with a look of annoyance as he heard his words. He had really wished that he could for once be greeted by someone who was more inviting.
After considering this his eyes got fixed on the mans eyes. Rayn stood still and thought to himself about finding a bed and wanting to sleep and figured that where ever this man would be taking him there might be some long awaited rest in his future. slumping his head forward with his eyes to the ground, as if to surrender, he cooperated and did so without saying a word.

The libary seemed endless*. Books bend time and space. One reason little rambling second hand bookshops always seem slightly unearthly is that many of them really are, having strayed into this world after taking a wrong turning in their own bookshops in worlds where it is considered commendable business practise to wear carpet slippers all the time and open your shop only when you feel like it. You stray into L-space at you peril.
Very senior librarians, however, once they have proved themselves worthy by performing some valiant act of librarianship, are accepted into a secret order and are taught the raw arts of survival beyond the the Shelves We Knew. All Libraries everywhere are connected in L-space. All libaries. Everywhere. Which is one of the reasons that if you wish to explore its best to have some string.
