Thud-thud-thud.

Though padded as they were the foot steps of the massive T-2 units were undeniablly loud. Seven and a half tons of pure killing machines, designed for a single purpose alone, these titans of battle marched through the streets of the city surrounding the massive tower, Twice Royal. And, of course, they were not alone; beside their eight feet tall counter parts the Z-23 models kept a steady pace within the protective ring of fifty caliber machine guns and Syph laser cannons. Standing at six feet almost to the unit the Z-23 were lithe where the T-2's were bulk, nimble where the T-2's were brutish, and instead of wielding about weapons designed to take down tanks these assassin units wielded blades of metal pulled from the depths of space.

And Rookin led them. Standing six and a half feet with long gray hair, an occassional strand of black still remaining atop his head, and garbed in a suit of armor that glistened as if never knowing the touch of combat. With the weight of a heavy morning star, the spikes protuding form it's stout head more than feircome, weighing down the right side of his belt Rookin looked the warrior he was. An old man, Rookin was, his face seemed perpetually carved of stone, hardly an alteration in appearance. Rugged and dirty he himself seemed, despite the near perfect condition of his armor, as if he had just walked off the battle field, chapped lips slightly bleeding. "Combat mode...disengaged." Rookin said aloud, despite the direct neural link to the members of his squad. Often times he had to remind himself, speak verbally, least insanity slowly creep in on him. He'd seen it happen, more than once, to commanders who never spoke...it was not something he wished for himself.

*Griffin glances out his clear windows. Sighing in aggravation he runs his fingers through his hair and drops the files he was reviewing onto his desk. Looking over at his twin sister he notes her worried look.* I’ll call if there is trouble. *He pats his sister on the head and straightens his suit. Going out on to the balcony, he notes his swat team already is in their formation on the buildings around the royal tower and on top of it. Also on every floor of the grand tower all the windows seem full of dark shadows. Sighing his face appears on a large flat screen above the balcony.* Citizens please remain calm and proceed to the nearest safe zone. This is merely a drill. *Trying to keep hostilities low as always, he glares down at the intruders.* Can I help you? *His voices booms out of the stereos of the flat screen.*

Rookin glanced upwards at the flat screen television projecting the image of a young man. He wanted to snarl, to spit in this undeserving cretin's face and proclaim the glory that is His word, but he lamented. "My name is Rookin," He said to the screen as he relayed a message through his team, "Second Commander Rookin to be more precise. I've been ordered to transmit a message to a woman named Kaiori." Though nothing of note happened so far the Twice Royal was already under seige. Assassin droids they were for they killed not just people but machines. Sophisticated AI programming went to work the moment the face lit up on the screen. Transmitted through small lasers installed behind the eyes the black formed Z-23 units were following the route of the message's origins back as well as locating key points in power, namely that of power plants of key lines of power that - if destroyed - would result in the most damage.

Though the Z-23's seemed innactive it was more than plainly obvious the T-2's were not. Fifty caliber machine guns panned about the streets and rooftops. SWAT was all fine and dandy for tactical insurgances, removal of bioforms or key armor threats, but they were against a whole new level at the moment. Invisible to the eyes of humans a sheen of energy surrounded the six massive battle units, making them near immune to most forms of balistics not injected with plasmic EMP or explosives. Adorning their right arms powerful Syph styled laser cannons hummed an eeiry tune spelling demise to any save the most stout of tanks, and likely not even that would save them from the massive heat being poured forth from the concaved lense that acts as the focus point for the beam. And, if worse came to worse, each T-2 unit was armed stock with a shoulder mounted launcher, or SLM for short, that, when emptied in complete, would likely rend such holes in that tower as to devistate those within their 'safety'.

*Griffin, sighs, His own commander alerting him of the many breaches already in the works.* Kaiori, would be my mother, who’s been classified missing in action for months now. So by all means transmit this message to me. *He had a guess that this message would be a violent one. Looking back at his sister he makes a few signals with his hands behind his back, simple, but enough to get her up and moving. Overall he could care less for his warriors and his buildings, his citizens and his sister meant the most to him. Already she was descending in the elevator that led far below the earths crust, to the safe houses. His mother always seemed to bring this s**t with her, so he had a good guess she was back.*

"Mother?" Rookin responds, his central processing unit accessing the massive data base provided by KB. Griffin, Kai's son, eh? An interesting prediciment, to say the least. His orders held no ties to the boy, though Tegral had said KB wanted all possible to be saved, there was no harm in trying after all. And if the boy refused, well he had some Stinger units on the way to handle that problem. "I take it your Griffin then? Well, disregarding the message for your mother. I also wish to speak with you. Personally, if you feel confident in your safety. May I continue forward?"

The trio of Stingers were breaking into the atmosphere some miles over the horizon, even if Rookin needed them it'd be atleast half an hour before they arrived. This insert at such a long range provided almost complete secrecy to their entry, unless of course Griffin had access to orbital tracking satalites, and if he did the Cradle was likely to blow them to kingdom come at the first activation.

*Griffin, nods, having nothing to lose really. Suddenly a clap of thunder is heard. A cloud of smoke appears half way up the tower, in mid air. A person free falls from the smoke. Kaiori eyes widen as she drops. She probably should have practiced doing this before. She lands with a roll, saving her body any damage with the exception of some major bruises. She stands up regally in front of the door of the tower. Her eyes narrow at the monstrous creations surrounding her.* What the ******** is this!?

*Griffins eyes widen, his hands grabs the railing as he watches his mother fall.* Mom!!? *He slumps forward in relief at her perfect landing.* Mom what the hell!

*Kaiori glares up at her son, but can’t help smiling, he was such a worry wart.* Clean out that mouth of yours son. You haven’t seen enough of the world to be able to use that language. And also what are you doing letting this guy come forward. *She glances around at the SWAT team.* You’re not even using my present to you! *She fakes unhappiness as she pouts her lips.*

*Griffin sighs, the women of his family were such a pain. Running his fingers though his hair he yells down again.* Not the time mother.

Fine but later we’re having a family sit down. *Kaiori turns back to the intruders.* You have balls going after my family like this. *Her blues eyes narrow, calculating. Her white bangs and black hair blow in the wind. Her hands still soft even after years of fighting rest on her hips. Her leather outfit is still shiny and wet from the rain. Her stance is powerful for human without much up her sleeve.* So what do you want?

"Following orders." Rookin replied, his heavily armored boots making half as much noise as the dozen T-2 units that waited a pace before jolting to life and moving forwards with the Z-23's still within the protective box. "Kaiori I presume? Well, I've orders to relay this message to you, and your children as well it now seems." As with Kah the transmission came after a breif pause, Rookin standing at attention with his arms at his side letting the massive silvery tower shield tink against the ground, "Kiaori, on behalf of KB and the residing crew of the Cradle, you are cordially invited to the first anual Sea of Stars Gala abord the recently completed star-station the Cradle. Formal dress, black tie and dress, and you are welcome to bring a date to suit. Firearms are strictly prohibited." The last addition to the message, though it was a near complete duplicate Kah was ordered to distribute among the members she found, was an addition Tegral himself added. It seemed the legacy of Kaiori, whose temper matched the ferociousness of the guns she wielded was not all completely lost on the mechanized admiral.

The message for Griffin was for Griffin alone, the assets he might be able to incorperate into the Cradle's resources seemed a great deal. Molding him into the plan was risky, as Rookin was certain if this boy tried anything stupid the blame would fall on his shoulders, but the devout knight was sure he was doing His work and He would be eternally greatful to the services. Rookin felt like smileing! The joy flowing through his form rivaled that of the runic energy provided by the arcane generator, only disabling the muscles around the face region stopped him from grinning like a food. He would be most impressed indeed.

*Kaiori tilts her head to the side. Being still legally a queen she frowns at the invitation.* If you do not mind my asking, what would be the reason for such an event.*Her mood seems to tip to her more royal persona. She didn’t have a problem with the no firearms approach, knowing a person would probably have to frisk her more then a couple times to find all the ways kaiori managed to keep herself safe. Still, it was KB, the man that always seemed to have an ulterior motive. She was considering herself and her son, but she would never bring Bell. Bell was too much of liability, at least Griffin could hold his own if things got down and dirty.*

*Griffin remains silent, watching. His eyes colder than anything his mother could produce.*

"As a means of celebration of the station's completion the Cradle is opening itself up to the public of the Black Company. A mass drive located at the Grave is available to transport people to and from the station at their whim for the duration of the party. As another means KB and the Admiral hope to use the event as a means to solify relations with the surface of the planet." Rookin replied in all earnesty. He understood the need for a unified state - after all disorder and choas led to destruction, but what he didn't understand was why KB seemed so fixated on such an event, or why the Admiral was using his two most powerful body guards to do such mundane tasks such as delivering party invitations. Rookin himself was the Admiral's Second Commander, ranking him one of the highest members aboard the Cradle, under the Admiral's command of course.

Out in the distance a trio of Stinger attack crafts zip over the foret's tops, specially designed plating made them completely invisible to the effects of radar and since they were powered by an experimental coil-base engine their thermal readings were ziltch as well, all that combined with the AC these units now favored made them, litterally, undetectable at such a range. Even the roar of their engines were lost to the ears.

"Oh," Rookin said, lightly slapping his armor plated fist into his opened hand, "My apollogzies. My name is Rookin, Second Commander to the Admiral of the fleet stationed at the Cradle." Not one for ego, the drive of such an mortal emotion long since lost of the inhuman Rookin, he spoke with the flat neutrality of one simply stating a fact. His name was Rookin and he was the Second Commander. And as for Griffin being ice, Rookin was the heart of a blizzard's storm on the frigged world of Xlarion IV - An uninhabited world so distant from the nearest sun it made the tiny hunk of ice named Pluto look a scortching dessert in comparison. After all, machines needed no emotions.

*Kaiori cocks an eyebrow, in a superior manner.* I’m Kaiori Night, but I’m guessing you already knew that. *She tilts her hips, her more relaxed pose. Her eyes brighten with realization. Her hands trail up her suit and she zips up her collar.* I don’t think the Night family will be attending this event. Send KB my regards. Now if you would please remove yourselves from this city.*She smiles politely with her cherry lips. Her high heels seem to shift into another stance, her leg muscles tensing. Kaiori used to be a recreation of Eve, she now only lacked the curse but kept the perfect body. Kaiori looks up at her son, he seemed angry with her answer. She sends him a glare that just screams that mommy is talking with the adults right now.*

*Griffin eyes widen. His mother always seemed so young and dumb! They were in no position to decline so rudely.*

"My sincerest apollogzies, Miss Night, but you do not seem to realize exactly what it is you're declining. If you'll excuse me." Inclining his head all but an inch, definately not the respect one should show to those of royal blood, Rookin started walking towards the tower, regardess if Kai was in his way or not. "I believe I shall speak to your son instead, mayhaps he has a better enlightenment of what is occuring in the world." At almost that exact instance tripplet sonic booms errupted over head, the Stinger units arriving on the scene more than tipped the favor in Rookin's odd. Armed with four 125mm autoguns apeice these massive weapons in themselves could devistate the Twice Royal, add in addition the Hellion anti-structure missiles - similar in design to that of a bunker buster these weapons hollow themselves into a structure and create an implosion, destroying the building with minimum collateral damage. What seemed like liquid glass fell from the three as the Stinger units dropped the Active Camoflauge, their coil-base engines producing a dull roar as they circled the city's limit. It seemed Rookin boasted quite the force at his command, stretching to even more up in space.

The half dozen T-2 units started marching the same instant Rookin did, along with the four Z-23 units. Each T-2 unit weighing in at nearly seven tons any one of the six could easily crush Kaiori underfoot if she didn't move, that was assumeing of course she wasn't simply moved asside by Rookin's march.

*Kaiori was possibly the most trigger happy woman on this planet and it wasn’t wise to piss her off. Her lips pull into a smirk.* Honey, I don’t think you understand what you’re trying to pull. *Kaiori slips her guns from her hip clasps in one seamless movement. A click is heard as she cocks them back. Knowing kaiori one could only guess what she had loaded in there at the time. Kaiori was also known for doing suicidal things when provoked, though this seemed a little worse than that.*

Mom! *Griffin swings over the railing, landing with a roll and getting to his feet. He shoves her behind him. His eyes directed at Rookin the whole time.* If we don’t understand what we’re declining then what exactly are you offering? *Griffin was a business man and held more practical sense then his mother, but Kaiori had more instinct than her son would ever hope to gain.*

Suicidal was what it would have definately been. Short of a tank nothing could really slow Rookin down. Unlike Kah who was built for tactical and long range combat, or Tegral who was a command unit who utilized heavy weapondry, Rookin was essentially the warrior of the bunch. Armed with heavier strength moduals in replacement of the guns that Tegral boasted he could easily outstrength his commander, and, despite lacking these weapons, he could sit in a clearing while Kah took pot shots at him all day. His armor, a sythiziation of Ombriox, a light weight yet durable substance, and a substance refered to as 'true-silver' that acted as an anti-magic where the Ombriox acted as anti-melee, was the most efficient in dealing with both physical - often times refered to as kinetic - damage and magical. Anything small enough to be loaded into a handgun, even if it was the largest one in existance, wasn't going to be enough to peirce Rookin's outer armor, let alone the ombriox-true silver below the fleshy exterior. "Peace," Rookin said in regards to Griffin's question. "KB offers you peace, a unification of lands divided. I wish not to frighten you, or for you to feel as though you are threatened by me in any way," Despite the fact, of course, he now has the aeral and ground means to reduce the Twice Royal to a flamming pile of slag, "But those who do not attend shall be considered agents of disolution and choas. Their names shall be stricken from the ranks of those allowed into the tranquility by His hand. And all materialistics desires that you own shall be reduced."

Bowing his head slightly, a touch of regret entering Rookin's voice. "Griffin, your organization can help bring about a new age of peace and prosperity, where you yourself can sit beside the greatness residing within the Cradle. Think hard on that." Regret gone a sense of grim finality filtered into Rookin's tone. Obviously it was clear of his message. Those who refuse are destroyed.

*Griffin clamps a hand over his mother's mouth, stopping the river of curses about to flow out.* We accept your offer, and we’ll show up whenever this thing is. Now if you would please put as much distance between yourselves and my mother, that would be for the bes- *His polite words are cut short as a gun is fired, right into his foot. He holds in all emotions as his hands fall away from his mother’s mouth. He turns to her, glaring silently.*

*Kaiori narrows her eyes. She sighs and shrugs her shoulders.* What… you’ll heal in a few seconds, the bullet went clean through. *She shoves him in the shoulder* By the way I’m still your mother and that was really rude! *She turns to Rookin, pointing a finger at him accusingly.* And you! Coming in here swinging your artillery around like a- *Kaiori’s eyes widen and she collapses, Griffin catching her before she hits the ground.*

*Griffin looks up, obviously not wanting to voice the reason for his mother’s condition. He sighs and shifts her more comfortably in his arm, as he bends to pick up her guns.* My apologies, but my word is final. We will accept this invitation; the future is always my deepest concern. *He tucks her guns into his belt and puts forward his free hand, an offering of trust. Griffin would always be more royal and less wild than his mother.*

And like a weight lifted from the shoulders of a strained man the three Stinger made one final loop around the city and departed back to whence they came. "Ah, I'm certain KB will be more pleased with the contribution you and your corperation can provide." Smiling, or rather the corner of his lip pulled up in a smirking smile, Rookin reached out to grasp Griffin's hand in his own metal encased one. Rookin's grip was firm, though just shy of being too much so, and the weathered look on his face was one of relief. The short and simple of it was Rookin was only ordered to relay this message because the Admiral himself knew of Kai's often firey temper and vicious behavior. Kah was excellent at silencing these people, though usually she gave them little chance to become angry in the first place, but Rookin's more armor plated touch was the choice to fit this situation. Capable of taking much more than Kaiori could throw at him Rookin would have been able to decimate most cities with his small force alone, well maybe not a city but likely the forces Griffin could send would have been destroyed.

With a final nod of his head Rookin turned to leave, the vigilance of the T-2's and Z-23's, the later still within the system and poised to destroy key locations of power, hadn't laxed a bit, "Oh, and your sister is invited as well." Griffin hadn't been in his immediate reference guide on Kaiori, information Rookin had to request, but Bell had.
