...Jaime back-tracked. The crazy b*****d had listened to him. How kind! He leaned over the wrought-iron fence of the cemetery and growled. A dismembered head flew toward Carlos and rolled at his feet. It was still seeping blood.
Carlos, that man had been on the news. He was supposed to be in the station pending a new trial. This was his head.
"Tell them what you saw," Jaime said and leaped atop the gate, into a tree, and disappeared in a crashing of leaves.

The cop leaped to his feet. Nothing threw heads except for whoever it was everyone thought was a goddamn vampire.

First the jail cell was checked. Aaron Davies. Someone nobody really cared about. Either way, there was blood everywhere, and someone had pried the bars off the window.
"Ready to show me that head?"
