I would say the most random couple I've read about is YumixYahiko. I'm not sure if the fic is still up on Adult FF.net anymore but it was weird...
And SoujirouxKaoru. I don't know. Just doesn't work.

Sure, the age difference is way more reasonable than KenshinxKaoru is, but, no, that'd never work. Soujirou has never even met her, and if he did, I bet she would drive him up the wall, yes, even him. ^ ^" No one can be a couple with Kaoru except for the amazing Kenshin.

Hah. I rememer I was like that when I first saw the summary. It ends up in the story that Yahiko and Sano were somewhere in Tokyo and Yahiko ran into Yumi (I guess this was before the Kyoto arc?) so he found her very attractive and he lied about his age and she spent the day trying to help him find Sano. But in the end, they didn't find him so she took him to this house and said, "I'll help you get your mind off of him."
Yah... I was like "ZOMG!1111one! WTF?!" If I can find the link, I'll PM it to you. Its quite funny.
And I agree, I can't see Kaoru with anyone else. It would just clash and be all awkward. I can see it now:
Kaoru: STOP SMILING!!!
Soujiro: *still smiling* Huh? What?

I think the weirdest pairing that I've ever come across while reading through fanfiction is Misao and Kamatari. I just can't see them together. sweatdrop

Sky~Samurai lol why do you think that kenshin and kaoru are a werid couple? they are a main couple if you want a werid coupel try something like shishio and megumi lol ewww or worse yet anji and misao lol yes i agree

one I've seen is AoshiMegumi. Not at all completely impossible, but I just can't seem to ever accept it.

I'm rather fond of the Soujiro/Misao pairing.. and I'd really love to read a Kenshin/Misao fic (but I still love the Kenshin/Kaoru pairing xD)
I think the Kaoru/Soujiro and Misao/Aoshi ones are too odd. I just can't picture them working.

none of them seem REALLY weird to me but aoshi and misao r so different
misao is all happy and aoshi is so emo and gloomy
