(( Ballroom -- Dining ))
The woman was making an obvious point to brush off David's attention; if only she were so good at blatantly ignoring people, but no. Ebony Shade... interesting name. It held a mysterious air, shadowy. Her name wasn't nearly as interesting. "Anita Bishop," unsure, she held her nearest hand out towards Ebony hoping for at least a short shake.
Afterwards, she cleared her throat and moved her hands back to her front, running one curiously over the handle to a dainty cup of egg nog. They were all aligned in a row, topped with a swirl of whipped cream and nutmeg. Before glancing back over to David, she gently picked it up and held it in front of herself. If she weren't held back by manners, she would have taken a quick sniff but that probably wouldn't be very impressive to this female acquaintance, though perhaps it would put David off... slightly.
"I don't have a hope of a youthful Santa, sir. This just...happened to be the last thing available..." another awkward clearing of her throat and she took a quick sip of the egg nog. Beneath the sweet flavor was the faint taste of... something. It wasn't recognizable, but it wasn't bad, either, and for some reason she felt a little happier from it. Not much, but at least she wasn't as entirely displeased by the situation at hand. How fitting; a jolly time and a drink that actually made you jolly. Anita made a note of getting more once she finished with that glass.

[[ Dining/Ballroom ]]
Balamb looked back and forth. "No, half pep-els.!" He uttered shakily, "No bottoms." He tried to find LuLu and spotted her accross the room. He pointed in that direction.
"See see." He squeezed his eyes shut for a moment and then opened them again looking around with his flighty mind. He picked up the napkin and bounced a little happilly on Graf's lap. Then he tucked it in like a good little boy should, corner bent and hooked around his collar the rest of it hanging down like a lopsided bib.
"Food nao!" He announced. Bridget smiled as she came wandering back with a filled plate.
"Food is now correct," She added to Graf, "If you can - get him to eat the fish and what meat is on here. He doesn't like it for some reason but I'm trying to get him to eat more so he'll be healthier. Clams Casino first perhaps. Oh, and did you know what you'd like?"

Graficcha'd been delightedly listening to the little one's chittering, nodding when he pointed at LuLu, and smiled an complimented him on being such a well-behaved little man when he prepared himself for dinner.
It HAD distracted her from her decision-making though, so when Bridget asked her what she wanted, she didn't find an answer right away. "... well... anything but mushrooms works for me." she eventually chuckled lightly. "Would you mind just getting me bits of whatever you think is tasty?" Heehee, improvisation, it all looked delicious. "Oh, and sure I will...they do need their proteins and fatty acids after all." she agreed, not without a little hidden scepticism. Some species just weren't built for normal human diet. Well, small bits probably wouldn't harm him, and if he could digest it, he'd at least get used to the taste eh.
"He's already very adapt in the fine art of not getting yourself all dirty, can he use cutlery already?" Sure, she'd help little Balamb out with anything he had trouble with, and she'd make sure to cut his fish and meat up really small so he could develop some taste for it.
... still, she had to admit clams and mussels had never appealed to her. Whenever she tried to eat that sort of thing, she found herself testing the tissues with her tongue and in her mind dissecting the creature in question, and somehow that never helped her appetite. Way to go... whu-, was that the stomach? Yup, squick.

Bridget winced. "No, not yet. But I got small bites for him so he should be alright. Mostly figner foods od fruits and such. There's nothing much bigger than the cracker that he can chomp on and grapes." She cocked her head sideways and thought about the plate she was going to make Graf.
"You can actually compliment my sister on that one. She has made him stay with her on tea parties with all her stuffed animals," Bridget chuckled, "Now I'll get you something with no mushrooms."
Balamb smiled at the mention of tea parties. Those were fun! "Tea party time." His face scrunched into a big smile then he folded his hands very ladylike into his lap. Sometimes it was hard for him to concentrate on a single thing for a given moment but with the constant waiting his attention span grew from a gnat's perspective to something more substantial.
"We wait for tea." He still had a big grin on this face.
Bridget loaded up two plates. She got a clam on the halfshell, elegant angel hair pasta and a few other odds and ends for her self, and got nearly the same for Graf but no mushrooms at all or flavoring. She trotted back and placed Grafficcha's plate in her vicinity while Bridget took her seat next to the two.
"Clams are good. But I wasn't sure if you'd like them, so I only got you one." of course she got herself only one but she also got a lot of shrimp too.
"Tea?" Balamb asked tentively.

Graf has already been dividing Balamb's food into smaller bitesized portions already when Bridget came back. "Thanks." she smiled when Bridget came back, surveyed the food the other woman had brought her and found all was well, but quickly got drawn back to the little subject on her lap again.
"Tea you say? Well Balamb, this is no tea-party, it's an other-food party. Maybe after we ate we can have tea together?" she smiled at him. "Anyway, now's the time for this food here. First some good stuffs, nya." she pointed at the little bites she'd prepared for him, trying to mix a few flavours together to make the mix more appealing than the sum of its parts. She's put a little bit of clam together with a small slice of melon there. Apparently it's not bad... So she picked it up, and went on to bring it to his mouth. Here you, oooopen up. oop, it'd been a while since she tried to feed something quite so young, but she was patient in matters like these, so if he made a fuss she wouldn't get annoyed too fast. Actually, there's something quite relaxing about taking your time with food.

Balamb was at first unsure of what to do. This wasn't tea time? Well food was food then! He opened and quickly closed is mouth before Grafficcha could get it in. His face crinkled into a big grin again.
"You know how to eat silly", Bridget said, "Show her that you can eat."
The guardian pushed her pasta around and a few of her tidbits, mostly the spiced shrimp. Eating in silence and Balamb obeying the command. He made a face once or twice when fed the food, usually with the meaty tastes. It it wasn't too bad.
"You're very patient with him. Thanks." She said after a while, "And if you'd like I can hold him for a bit so that you can eat your food." She moved closer so that he could be transfered as easily as possible.

((Ballroom – Dining))
“Anita Bishop…” she repeated slowly, no doubt carefully linking her face and name perfectly together for the sake of memory. It was not always like Ebony to take such careful action to remember one particular person, especially not someone who wasn’t of real consequence to her, yet something told the woman she should remember this girl for future reference if nothing else.
Taking the girl’s hand with a firm shake, “Pleasure to meet you. I so do hope Mister Nao isn’t causing you too much trouble. He seems to have an uncanny need to make himself known to any female within a ten mile radius.” A cocky smirk couldn’t be held as she slide a challenging look towards the man.

Graficcha quite relished in the task of getting this little critter all fed and fixed. Such a dream of a young boy he was.
Upon the suggestion of Balamb switching bases, she nodded. "Ah, yes. That'd be practical indeed. I wouldn't mind keeping him here while I fiddle, but I doubt HE woul enjoy that." she smiled, and gently lifted him to cross the small gap between the two lady-laps.
"You're one very well-behaved young man, Balamb. I'm sure Bridget is very proud of you." she said, quite gleefully, before finally picking up her own cutlery to start nibbling on her own food.

((Outside ~ Dancefloor ))
Josh stretched and stifled a yawn. He peered at the gold pocket watch which was connected smartly to his vest by a dainty chain. It seemed like the event was off to a slow start…. middle… and end. The boy began to walk towards the doors that led outside. He swung them open, then retracted slightly. Josh shivered at the initial burst of cold but soon melted into the inky darkness beyond the chic double doors. He would make this party a bit more interesting.
~~~~~
LuLu seem swept up in the party. Where was she going? And where had Josh disappeared to?! It seemed like very few people were qualified to protect her tonight. LuLu floated hesitantly onto the dance floor and spared a tentative glance at the one couple that was there. She gently floated up and mouthed a few words as if mustering up strength to speak with the strangers.
"Ree-nom have parties. I be good for parties." he chirruped happily once he was deposited safely onto his mom's lap. Bridget smiled and said aside to Graficcha, that me meant Rhiannon, it was still a too long a name for him to pronounce properly.
"I'm quite proud, actually - he doesn't like people. Had a fright at the park. Something, I don't know but I was unaware of it until Rhiannon, pointed it out. She seems to have a knack for understanding others' feelings. Almost like empathy...her and her brother." Bridget shook her head with a half-smile. "This place is quite calmer than I figured it would be. What with the raevans. I had to delve quite a bit to glean knowlege about the Lab."
Balamb eventually cleaned his plate and looked around gazing at different decorations in turn, avoiding eye contact. Bridget cleaned her plate eventually and settled into the moment.
"Want dessert?"
Graficcha nodded understandingly at Bridget's explanations.
"Hmm.. the Laboratory's not as... hectic as one would expect... I believe both the Raevans and their guardians are quite happy to not get extra trouble on their necks. It is hard enough to provide good care for them as it is..." she hummed softly, getting a little lost in shallow pondering. The Lab and those connected to it all had been involved in many a pinch, not least of all Lazarus' little oopsie.
"Oh, dessert? No thanks... I'll be fine. " Aheh, no really. "Maybe Balamb would like something nice though... Say... if you don't mind me asking, what did happen in that park to frighten him so?" she looked at her head-on again, speaking quietly.
[[ Dinning Area --- BTW *MUCH HUGS* thank you sooo much Graf crying You're so awsome! ]]
Wow, she never made any connection like that. It seemed that everything was all hunky dory except for that untraceable and mysterious explosion previously reported from the news. Bridget did surmise that it must have been one of the raevans. Which one she wasn't sure of. But they had rebuilt the place quickly enough she supposed, especially since it didn't seem to have support. Sometimes she would like to make a donation to the place, but it seems fated that she be haning on by a thread sometimes. Admitedly it got worse since the additive of Balamb, but she still adored the tyke and would never admit that.
"Nnnnoah." Balamb said, quite loudly his face creasing, "No." He reiterated his unwillingness about the situation by clapping a hand to Bridget's mouth. "Way'... What's dessert?" His hand droped as he looked up at her questioningly.
"Oh," Bridget was startled by the outburst but settled to relieved disbelief. "No one wants any so maybe later? You don't want it anyway. Too much sugar."
But his mind had already wandered again, tugging at his decorative clothes and then minutely studying Graf's clothing as well. If he had formed his opinion on everyone's clothing in the vicinity he hadn't said anything about it.
"Ahem, anyway, apparently, he had gotten a fright when he was on the slides at the park, which doesn't make too much sense since he was crawling up and down it for at least an hour. It was a quiet day until a few kids came up and thats what I'm assuming scared him. Perhaps it's either new things but then again - everything is almost always new, right? Or it is people. But he's ... I don't know." Bridget fell silent as she looked at the frill that grew from his head.
"He's growing hair stubble. I didn't notice till now." She half smiled.
Graficcha had listened attentively throughout, keeping a keen eye on both Bridget and the little one's actions. Aww, honestly.
At that last notion she let out a soft giggle. Too cute. "Hmm. I suppose it's not easy to get along with people for everyone... I can imagine some may find them.. intimidating, or in the way.. or plain scary... Unpredictable and all..." she mused. Heh, she wasn't exactly a people-person herself, not at all. Again she reminded herself to look at Bridget while talking, as she's again let her twinkling gaze creep over to watch Balamb. He quite bluntly fascinated her.
"... if... Well... I don't want to sound rude or anything, but.. What exactly IS he?" she peeped up. "I'd love to learn more about him." glimmer glimmer, that hint of burning curiosity and scientific interest. As well as ye olde mother-instinct that required her to know as much about them little ones as possible. Knowledge is the best precaution one could take against accidents, she figured.
[[ Dining Area -- I know what you mean. >.>; I suppose one of us could make a new thread, depending who's post it would be after they've locked it. It kinda died. I was hoping to get some Snowman making done too, and wonder about what Iorek was going to do. - Possibly participate in that. ]]
Bridget nodded, completely understanding, since her love - hate relationship with Rhiannon and her twin Eric roves around the back burner.
"Ah, well - one moment," She started, and then she gently placed her hands on the side of his head to cover the ear area. He cocked his head from side to side, his eyebrows crunching down and his lips protruding out into a frown. But the hands stayed where they were and then he decided to play with whatever was left of his food.
"I know he's a smart boy so I don't want him knowing some things. I am a studier of magic, certain kinds. I use my basement and I've put up wards and such. Well. Apparently this littke gecko - lizard thing gets in there. Now - its supposed to keep anything living other than myself and family out. Don't know how it got in there. The twins, (That's what I call Rhiannon and Eric.) thought, oh poor thing we should keep him, his name is Greg."
She took a breath, and knew that her listener may be confused at this point, "Don't worry, I'll get to how Greg connects to this. So Greg keeps on getting out, and the last time he did someone had broke into our house and had set fire to the bedroom. Crazy arsonist. At first is what I think, but then I remembered that we found this guy in my basement full of magical dodads that he might have eaten and triggered the transformation. Balamb is formerly known as Greg. I've had to dump my supplies and order new stuff. I'm not going to let another accident like that happen again." She looked off into the distance and sucked on the inside her her bottom lip before letting them smack open again to continue her shpeal.
"So, I've got this kid here. And I've put my magical studies on the back burner." It ended rather lamely she thought, but that was as close as the truth that it was. Without painting Bridget, herself as mean horrible or otherwise nasty. She remebered having a yell out or several with the two of them through the whole ordeal of Greg/Balamb.
The stalker had listened breathlessly to her tale, nodding occasionally. Ah yes.. there were some gaps in the story she didn't really want to bother with filling up now, so she asked no further.
"A bit of an.. accident you say. Of course it's wrong to ever call a new life an accident hmm." she said softly. "Tell me... you're not just taking care of him out of.. obligation, are you?" a gentle question dropped lightly while she was absent-mindely trying to get a pea on her fork.
