My school does it so that the senior violinists get the first violin parts usually. I'm a senior, so I'm a first violin... But I'm also third stand which is pretty nice. Though... I think I'm better than one or two people ahead of me, but the way we do it is that we generally stick with the stand partners we've always been with. Haha! So first violin, third stand.

i am a part of two different orchestras and the one for my school i am first chair cello and the other i am also first chair cello and i have only been playing a year and am already on Suzuki book 3

used to be first, but i got lazy and stopped practicing, so now im second chair first violin (i actually prefer second chair to first tho)

Because I am a lone Contra-bass clarinet, I am both first and last seat. We'll see my rankings in youth orchestra and all state this year, and I guess I'll base my standings off of that.

First violin, first row. biggrin We usually alternate 1st and 2nd chair...I got it for the last 3 concerts though.. rolleyes
